  • Love this

  • You know it just makes me sick to my stomach to know that band Nine Inch Nails covered this song without Johnny Cash's permission. Immoral bands like Nine Inch Nails should never do covers of music written by a god fearing man such as Johnny Cash. This is the lord's music. Not devil music. Yall can spam my channel as much as you want to and post all the negative comments you want, but ain't nothing going to change the fact that what Trent Reznor did was wrong. Plain and simple. Leave me alone.

  • @DeliveryManBoy loldevilmusic

  • @DeliveryManBoy This song was written by Trent Reznor and then covered by Johnny Cash, not the other way around. Just like the Devil created God and not the other way around!

  • Ain't there anyone listening?????????????????

  • @mrswamprat1952 Yes, there is, for sure! on February 2012!

  • Johnny got the last laugh, got his self respect back, joined his wife in eternity, and showed those stuck up jerks in the Music City that he would never be shunned again.

  • i love this cover so much <3

  • RIP Johnny !

  • I wonder what compelled him to cover this song. Like was he a NIN fan and heard it and thought, that really speaks to me, I think I'll cover it? I guess I'll never know.

  • @JakedelXcour actually trent reznor (nine inch nails guy) had been covering johnny cahs's songs for a while by this time. then johnny cash that it would be funny to get back at him and cover one of his songs. so he picked hurt. and trent reznor said that cash's version was so good that hurt was no longer trents song anymore

  • this song is soo powerful it make me think of everything and anything it sounds soo peacefull

  • i love this song sooooooooooo much love you jhoney cash 3:

  • :-) I am still right here ... :-)

  • <3 I grew up to Johnny's music... always loved it. always will <3

  • Johnny Cash I did not know you for a long time when you was alive, but I always remember hearing rumours of a great musician called Johnny Cash now for the first time I watch this video it almost made me cry. I am now a fan and i will not stop checking your other related music videos..... God bless you Johnny Cash when i come to heaven i will tell you how much this beautiful song meant to me.

  • I can say now that this is surely the best song that I've ever heard, I'm totally addicted. So full of emotions, makes me sad and yet in another hand happy because we had honor to have such awsome guy in this world to sing it for us, I couldn't imagine better version. Good job, Mr. Cash, good job. :')

  • loved the NIN version but Mr.Cash did awsome on this cover ... changed a cpl lyrics but it still rocks ...

  • Amazing... :'(

  • look at his eyes, you can see his whole life, and it seems that a tear is falling, there is suffering in his eyes and the fear of death,,,, but now he has conquered death you will surely be in heaven , in heaven, RIP Johnny.(FROM AN ITALIAN FAN).......

  • Now THAT'S how to put emotion into a song. I can't hear it without getting watery eyes.

  • this song makes me cry.

  • Listening to this song, reveals a naked feeling of truth about what hurting really is, thinking of all the mistakes done in life.., that so many of us realized too late.. Oh, so great performed, straight aimed into the heart. Rest in peace, Dear Mr Cash. Thank you for your testimony in tunes. /Maria

  • Beautiful song. He's only celebrity that I've known that stayed with his wife from young, till the day both of them died<3 A few months after his wife died, Johnny cash died. Breaks my heart to see someone's true honesty of pain before they died. R.I.P Johnny Cash.

  • @Demineralize except that he met her while cheating on his first wife. and this is coming huge fan of Mr J.R. Cash. this is still a wonderful cover and you arer right it is really said because you can see real pain in his eyes

  • @Demineralize um, correct me if im wrong but didnt Johnny have kids with an ex wife before June? he wasnt all that young when him and June got together..

  • All my tears.

  • to tell you the truth this version of hurt sounds better than nine inch nails version

  • Even Trent Reznor said that the Man in Black Johnny Cash did this song more justice than he did and he wrote the thing and to the both of them i say Thank You no matter how many times i hear this song i still get a tear in my eye.

  • This song cuts right through you...Cash clearly covered it because he felt some sort of attachment to it, never a fan of his type of music but this is something else. One of the most powerful things I've listened to in my life

  • sad is extreamly sad but it does make you think. very good song and vey emotional.. RIP mr cash

  • 1:20 "My empire of derp."

  • @DAMN3DxSOUL my empire of dirt.... just sayin

  • AMAZING

  • RAW EMOTION!

  • This song is amazing..

  • So sad, what a legend.

    Great song Trent Reznor.

  • this vid is sooo good-the song sung this way by Johnny Cash-amazing! But I really think that this video really makes it that much more powerful. So here is to the maker of the video--from wikki--

"The music video was directed by former NIN-collaborator Mark Romanek"

    great job Mark!!

  • @bkelleher91

    Fuck Simon Cowell.

    .

  • wow this is sad

  • I cry like a baby every single time I hear this.

    Beautiful :)

    .

  • Incredible

  • I could listen and watch this for hours and still cry.

  • love this song... makes the tears drop down every time.

  • Johnny Cash. i do not need to say anymore. he is just that Awesome.

  • what a tribute you can see and hear the hurt in his heart and soul he died shortly after and went to meet his sweet June

  • @lyds2000 i love the feeling he had for june with all his faults there was still that deep love i really know how that feels as i have lost my husband 2005 but i can't see my future without him but i have to go on

  • Jews

  • In my culture we honor the elder and prize them like a gift. Many western culture do not agree nor can fatom why they should waste their time with elderly but this song comes close to why we should embrace the knowledge that they could offer to us. Though we can only bi-curiously imagine what he means when he sings this song but we can all agree that it feels powerful; a power that carry's experiences of guilt, passion, joy, regret, and sense of past duty.

  • @tkoizumi I am from a western culture and I agree entirely. I love my boyfriend who is Filipino because he is respectful and treats my parents like jems. It's just the way it should be :)

  • trent and johnny should have done a duet to this song... that is... before johnny died....;(

  • love it....

  • great sing and tghose who don;t beleive so has no soul

  • i cry when i wee

  • Great Song

  • the 10 people who disliked this must not be able to hear

  • @PicnicHikeMusic this isnt country he was a country star but this is a accoustic rock, dark amibient

  • waaay better than NIN

  • I dont care who made this song first, it was MADE for him.

  • this is the only song i knew by him, and now i love most of his songs. I miss him. I love his voice. <3 and this song, is most of my past, I love it <3

  • shame i discovered him 7 years after his demise, i wish i was around to see him in his prime but he died when i was 8

  • those 10 who didnt like are suffiring of retardation disorder

  • sad to see how he was forced by his record company to keep recording when he was ill, bastards!!

  • @mowgli19601 why would you such a thing? it's sad and gladly it's not true. From "The Independent": « "Hurt" – a song on Nine Inch Nails' 1994 release The Downward Spiral – came to the attention of the country legend Johnny Cash in 2002, through a mutual friend, the producer Rick Rubin. Cash listened to Trent Reznor's song more than 100 times, hailing it as "the best anti-drug song I ever heard", before recording it. » ...So don't be upset :)

  • brilliant.. really

  • He was at the height of perspective, looking back at his life and forwards to the unknown oblivion. Too weak from age for bullshit, he saw his life for what it was. To me he's a hero among poets.

  • Even until the end, Johnny still had it. Goddamn what a legend.

  • One of the best songs i've heard in the past decade

  • johnny is a legend period. this song (even though its newer) is just as good as his first.

  • @mmafinatic This is a cover

  • @dioguloku i realize that iguess i shouldve worded it dif. i was talkin bout his singing later in life

  • What is the meaning of Hurt? Almost every explanation i heard was different.

  • why dislike this??? Fuck you if you've disliked this! Seriously, this is a masterpiece, video and song.

  • @connorschanks gtfo pussy

  • It was the perfect song for him to do on his departing from this planet that caused him to be happy and sad, like us all......I wish it would have been as long as "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin, a long grueling 7 minutes to express the sadness he felt...but, you know radio, the shorter the song, the better for commercials to be applied. That is why I got to play it three or four times in a row......Miss you, Mr. Cash and so do we all on the east coast of the U.S.A.

  • I miss him to....way too much...What a loss to the music industry and THE PLANET......Hank Love, Annapolis Md. ( musician in the field )

  • HAIL JOHNNY CASH!! WHAT A SONG!!

  • I MISS YOU CASH!! :'(

  • Guys ur being bitches his wife died and right after this he died so fuck off this guy had a hard life

  • @blackmurder5

YUP, I was playing Games on Pogo.com the day she died... I posted her death, and someone said it was going to hurt him, I said It was gonna Kill him. 3 months later he died as well. They say you can't die from a broken heart. But you can!

  • @CallMeStroker i wish i could but i cant it only works for some people!

  • Pure music, gentleman! RIP Johnny :(

  • This song distills in me emotions no other song, or person has replicated.. He not only did this song justice, but made it even more powerful in another way.

  • Legend.

  • Just... wow.

  • this song is a complete master peace, props to the nine inch nails for righting the lyrics, but Johnny Cash steals this song. R.I.P you are missed deeply. i love you and your music greatly.

  • Jhonny cash we miss you man oh and what you became is a legend

  • Trent and Cash. Beautiful.

  • I mostly hate this kind of music but this reminds me of someone special. A heartbreaking video that breaks your heart!

  • Guess 8 people dont like the cover, well go fuck yourselfs, because both are great.

  • what the hell 8 dislikes? fuck those 8 douchebags. R.I.P Johnny Cash you are FOREVER THE MAN

  • why 8 dislikes r the kids today that fucking retardid this man is a legend he will live on rip johnny cash

  • those mother fuckers deserve to be burned inside their houses with the suckers responsable for bringing them to this world

BURN THEM FUCKING BURN THEM ALIVE!!!!!!

maybe i overeacted but johnny is dead and he made a master piece before his time ended

and he deserves all the respect in the world just for being brave enough to make music so intense after his wife died

    R.I.P. johnny cash

  • Wow! I hate 99.99 % of country music. But this is obviously something very different from Mr. Cash. His brilliance comes through here. This is utter sincerity from a man who is taking stock of life and seeing only the truth near the end. Hats off to Mr. Reznor as well.

  • @PicnicHikeMusic His brilliance comes through on every song he's ever bothered to create. Idiot.

  • @PicnicHikeMusic this is nothing like country

  • @PicnicHikeMusic I don't see how you can hate 99.99% of a genre, I don't personally like country but hate, damn. It's just hard for me to say I hate any kind of music.

  • Can any of you imagine the world without this LEGEND of a man.

Johnny Cash is ALIVE today and forever through the LOVE we all feel for the man and HIS music

  • ...so poignant....

  • RIP johnny true love from saudi arabia

  • 8 years come Monday, each a tear in my heart, You could not have left a more powerfull departing gift. I miss you my friend, rest in peace, your burden laid down finally.

  • I'm hurting

  • I cry everytime with this song! Johnny Cash is a legend

  • One of the most powerful songs made for me :)

  • A legend!!

  • y'know why this version is so much better than NIN's? It fits so much better for Johnny Cash. Now, i'm not saying NIN's version isn't good, but Johnny Cash had a hard life, and a song like this kind of sums it all up. Not to mention the fact that some songs, especially songs like this just sound better from an older person's voice, and Cash had that way of slowing things down, which puts a lot of emphasis on the emotion of it. A FANTASTIC song sung by a FANTASTIC man. RIP Johnny Cash!

  • Extremely powerful lyrics especially when sung by an old legend like Cash

    RIP CASH

  • I hate country. Absolutely hate it. But this song is such a great farewell to Johhny and his legacy. It's really sad too see him, at the end of his life, regretting all the things he's done wrong, and realizing that everyone he knew, everything that meant something too him, was gone, and him and his music were the only things he had left. Now he's in a much better place though.

  • Stop your life during 3:52 and analize these lyrics

  • IDOLOOOOOOOOOO TUS CANCIONES VAN A SEGUIR DE GENERACION EN GENERACION,.DE ESO NO HAY DUDAS.

  • It's so ominous that he released this cover, along with critical acclaim, very soon before his death. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

  • @Cytus I'm not 100% sure, but I'm also pretty sure he recorded it after Junes death. I think, after the life he lived, that he was ready.

  • 6 ARE CRAZY

  • Haunting video too!!!

  • @Ddub23chillwill why?

  • The 6 dislikes must have let the needle tear a hole or something. Brillant cover!

  • Why embedding is disabled?

  • i think mr.cash drew for his personal experiences and emotions and put it all into his voice when he cut this song....he was a master of his art!!!

  • It's incredible how such a charismathic (hope I spelled it right, i'm latino) old man as Johnny Cash died alone... It's sad... His music is just dramatic, beautiful... Awesome

  • @juandhmps he didn't die alone. His family was by his side and he was in the thoughts and prayers of millions.

  • @guir43 His family was dead. This whole seong was bout him having nothing, him being the only one left, the only thing left which truly mattered to him was gone. It was just him and his music.

  • I can't listen/watch this without getting goosebumps. Amazing cover.

  • i want this song to be played in my funreal

  • This cover version is way better

  • Whoever Disliked this Video.....I hope you all Burn in Hell!!!!

  • this songs makes to cry chuck norris and undertaker

  • Didn't June die first?

What a heartbreaking performance. What a heartbreaking song.

I want to have it played at my burial.

  • @Sharoney June died from complications from heart valve surgery on May 15, 2003. Johnny died September 12 of the same year of complications from diabetes. I sometimes wonder if June's recent passing somehow contributed to his death, perhaps losing his will to live without her. What I always admired about him is that although he had flaws, he was always honest about it in his life and his music. The lyrics of "Hurt" strongly reflect his life, even though he didn't write the song. Perfect choice.

  • 4 people are Hurt

  • what for assholes disliked this video!

  • Who are these 4 idiot fuckers that disliked this? I can't understand that. Whoever they are, I hope they suffer unimaginable deaths. That's right. I said it.

  • @RichardMontalban

If you don't like it, then you don't... Whats the fkin problem kid?

  • Rest in Peace, Johnny. Thank you also for this music played in memory to all whom died in the worlds worst ever air crash.. JAL 123 (Japanese Air Lines)

  • I miss Johnny Cash :-(

  • 4 people have no soul. They must be gingers.

  • @alexloganjames Laaame.

  • @alexloganjames lol, good one...

  • @alexloganjames I'm a ginger, and I find this song to be one of the most emotionally moving songs I have ever heard. God rest Johnny's soul.

  • We miss this giant in country music! What an awesome song, from an awesome man.

  • JC is the only man I know that can do this song proper justice. You'd have to live as long as he did to put the proper feeling into it. I don't know how TR managed to pull this song out of his soul at such an early age to share with us.

  • 3 people way to fuck it up!

  • If I live to bury my son I will have this song played at his funeral. He would sing this song if he could hiself, just to say"I'm sorry Mom" for all the wrong he has done.

  • the only reason somebody pressed dislike is because they miss Johnny Cash, so don't think they are saying the song is bad; to them it brings back memories

those who like: likes the song and memories

those who dislikes: misses Johnny Cash and can not stand to not cry during this video, hence they dislike

nothing is negativ with this video :)

  • @akuam209

Their eyes were so laden with tears they couldn't differentiate like from dislike.

  • @fingerpupet god youre gay

  • @connorschanks What are you, a robot? This is a masterful performance.

  • @browca04 yea it is, but youre a fucking faggot

  • Man What is with all the negative comments here??

    Everyone has to ruin it..

The world is full of assholes mr.cash pay no mind to these idiots i still think your music is awesome.:)
