I like this tactic, it's obvious where weak points are, but besides that why does nearly everyone in the comments say use more pea shooters or snow peas when gloom shrooms are much better then them?

This is a fair strategy. You failed only in that you put the garlic too close to the zombies. Each one tooke one bite before being diverted, so it wasn't effective forever. Also, you should always have at least one of those peashooters that shoots backwards in each row, and the very back row should have a pumpkin each. That way, you're safe from digger zombies.

@gravisamurai89 Actually pumpkins only temporaily stop diggers, the only way to stop them is with split peas, explosives, or star-fruits. Back on topic, why... I repeat why, would you not replace the garlic, pick spikeweed, or pick patato mines? Still if you would've focused a bit more on defense this tactic would be almost flawless.

@Mrgame32ftw First off, I said you would need split peas, I just forgot the name at the time, so I said "peashooters that shoot backwards" instead. And the pumpkin is only a stalling tactic. And you need the garlic because it lasts longer. However, I found in my own version of this strategy that they always take a bite of the garlic, so you have to monitor it and replace the garlic every so often. By the way, I find Starfruits useless for the most part.

Anyways I agree starfruit are rediculously useless, but I like using garlic when I'm playing on last stand to get money, but every other time I try to use it I screw up placing it. I actually just used my survival day easy tactic to beat this. (give or take a few plants due to more special zombies.)

@Mrgame32ftw Well, I saw excellent use of this basic strategy earlier, and I do believe that it just needs a bit of fine-tuning. With some Three-Peaters, Split-Peas, and Spikeweed, I can make an unstoppable defence. What you do is Garlic off the top and bottom row with two Garlic's each, then have a bunch of Sunflowers along the rest. The middle is all Marigolds. After that, just Spikeweed everywhere, place the Three-Peaters and Split-Peas, and you're good-to-go! Also, throw in a Goldshroom

the answer is yes and no

it applies to different types of zombies

a faster moving zombie (say football or pole-vaulter) will move diagonally forward into the next lane after eating the garlic and will pass the garlic it eats right afterwards

slower moving zombies however will not move forward as much switching lanes and may take up to 5 bites out of the row of garlic before passing it

of course the garlic will all eventually die and you will have no more defenses
