  • I wish my cats were so easy going about getting their nails clipped! Not at all :( that's why their fighting is so bad at times (we have 4) they hurt each other & today my oldest cat has to get stitches in his eye because they tore out a membrane during a bad fight today. They were home alone. I wonder if these soft claws would help with that. It won't cure their occasional aggressiveness but at least maybe stop them from hurting each other?

  • @Anneris yes, I would definitely give them a try!

  • why american and british's cuting the pet claws or give him a bath...for what ??? this have not to be...there are crazy

  • @Wrenchcool clearly you can see that the claws are not being removed.. just simply covered which does no harm to the cat and they can still use their claws in every way as before. Cutting the claws is, as a matter of fact, good for the claw.. Baths> what are you talking about? not sure..

  • @Wrenchcool Because the pet stays inside with them. Baths really aren't necessary for cats, but dogs have to be cleaned. They cut the claws so the pet doesn't cause damage to furniture.

  • Thank you for posting this. Very helpful!

  • LOL at 2:30, Maia is like," Done yet?.." XD

  • Where do you buy them?

  • @MoonEevee30

At any pet store but try PetSmart cause I found them there :)

  • Thanks a lot. We just applied "soft claws" to our cat and it was much less of a struggle with this advice.

  • The cat has a favorite color?! Right and my pelican has a favorite scent.

  • @Shmuck60 Jupiter's favorite color is Pink and Kona red. I put a bunch of toys in different colors, and they choose that color of the toy every time! its crazy!

  • @snowbirdy6 wow how do you get your cat to be so calm and not hiss i had a cat it took me 3 people just to cut her nail i used to get bitten alot but then after a few months she bonded with me she followed me every where but still bites me when i try to clip her nails rip.zoey

  • @TheMasterFerrets well, I started cutting Konas and Maia nails when they were just kittens so they would become used to it.. you just have to keep doing it..

  • @Shmuck60 oh, and good luck with that pelican.. hopefully he doesn't find your scent the most attractive and decide to eat meat

  • @snowbirdy6 Did I say scent? I meant cent... i.e. penny, pence, centavo.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE HUMANE than declawing!! come on people! what would you prefer? think about it!!! getting all your nails pulled out of ger fake nails? I would go for the fake nails all the way!!

  • the cat's face speaks for itself! haha so funny!!! pretty cat!!

  • @snowbirdy6 No need, I have a way to get the footage off YouTube, but thanks!

  • This is great! Would you object to our local Humane Society using this video? We're considering making a DVD of how-to guides for declawing alternatives - we'd probably give it to all our adopters.

  • @lorelome sure, send me a message so I can get you the footage. :D

  • @lorelome I can also make you a new one.. ;D

  • How long do they last until they fall out?

  • @azncutie1627 they take anywhere from 2-5 weeks to fall off

  • awwwww maia is such a cutie.

  • I'm sort of worried about any adverse effects but I obsess over this little guy so if he has ingrown issues I think I'd figure out asap and discontinue the use right away.

  • @objectionablechione ingrown issues? what?

  • I'm thinking of getting some of these for my kitty. He does have lots of good places to scratch (multiple scratching posts/trees) but he plays very rough (lots of scratches on my arms and legs from him jumping up on me/playing with me). In addition, he claws the underside of chairs/mattresses which is bad because my furniture came with the apartment and I have to cover any damages. I keep them well trimmed atm but it just doesn't seem to be enough :/

  • Thanks for showing, after watching your kitties, I decided my demon of a cutie is going to be getting them since I refuse declawing. Lol.. she's going to hate me.. she likes to scratch.. hehehee

  • @PhotoFanatic1989 lol, she can still scratch and use a scratching post and everything! it just doesnt pull the carpet or cut your hand anymore..

  • @snowbirdy6 Lol a scratching post.. ohh I wish.. Should see her.. yes.. i said her.. only she uses it.. chair in my room.. Spoiled her yesterday, was inspired by all of your videos of your cute kitties.. So I'm sure she thanks you :). maybe if I can get her the caps.. the recliner, couch, chair, carpet, walls, and my skin will be safer :)

  • you are very beautiful

  • Maia is so calm. Capping my kitties nails is a two person job.

  • @Bessameculo yes it can be. I have been doing all my kitties since they were kittens, so they are used to it,.

  • aaww u give them whole names! wats jupeys? i kno konas now i just thought it was his name and not a first and last

  • @mossclaw55 Jupiter's name is Jupiter Axel, Kona's name is actually Kona Houdini.. lol.. then the last name.. ha ha ha

  • I wish they had these in the UK. I havent seen any around

Least declawing is illegal in the UK :D

  • Hello their, by the way Maia is very adorable, i do have a question, my friend has a cat and she has Placed Soft claws on his feet i recomended it insted of Declawing. My question is, is their any possible way to take the Soft Claws off of the nail, My friend wants to replace the color (I dont understand why). But yes is it possible to remove the covering from the nail? It would realy help, Thanks.

  • @Quaxosjellicle not really.. once they grow out to a certain point, you can trim the tip of the cap and nail and then it will fall off faster, but you cant really remove them.

  • this is so well done and informative RE: what to do,not to do and what to expect afterwards!! SA mist have for cat folks!! Had I only known before I dumped the couch :-)

  • Thanks for doing this video. I'm trying to decide whether 2 of my cats are going to get their nails done. It really helps to see how they are applied. Now I just have to find them locally.

  • @silverpoint16 all pet stores have them now.. :) they are great!

  • maia looks like she seen a ghost! :(

  • Is this a fact? I seriously have 24 hours to talk my landlord into letting me have this cat. I have the cat "on hold" at a shelter and tomorrow's my last day. Can you possibly send me a link somewhere stating that this is illegal to require such a thing in Missouri if you can find it?

  • @lcs43b you need to call your local humane society or aspca and they will help you. It is inhumane to require a cat to be declawed in order to have it as a pet and they can help you with all the information you need. They may direct you to the BBB.. I am not sure. But please, call the aspca/humane society and they can help guide you on what to do.

  • It is funny how established societies "own" animals, like cats. Then domesticate them and when the animal behaves in a biological manner- like oh, say use their nails; we oppress them and look for ways to stop it. Then we justify why one concept/ product is superior to the other (declawing vs. silicone nail mittens) I will agree that it is a more humane approach then snapping nails off. Good video.

  • @ChloeCarbon I agree in every way. I want to get a cat but my landlord requires that they get declawed. That's not going to happen. If I can talk him into letting me use these instead i'll be very happy. Otherwise I won't get a cat until I own a house. I agree that cats should be allowed to use their nails

  • @lcs43b WHAT!? REPORT your landlord to the better business bureau and the ASPCA. They are NOT allowed to put a restriction on having a cat unless it is declawed, that is just assanine!

  • @ChloeCarbon well, while I want to agree with you on every aspect of your comment, I sorta can't. I am going to play devil's advocate and say, first of all.. there were no house cats before man created them.. we created them from as early as 350 B.C. by breeding traits from African wildcats down to what we currently have today, house cats. IN fact, in 1758, Carolus Linnaeus classified the house cat into its own species because of the traits a house cat possesses that other wild cats do not.

  • @ChloeCarbon therefore, my point is that, if we created them, why shouldn't we 'own' them and take care of them? House cats are not meant to be feral on the street, they are meant to be eating tuna dinners by the fire. With declawing, we (menaing humans) only decided how cruel it is oh say, roughly 10-15 years ago even though it has been being done for almost 100 years. I would like to think these claw caps are preserving the 'wild' in cats, but in all reality, a house cat has its own

  • @ChloeCarbon domesticated wild side where claws come in handy with mousing for us humans and protecting themselves fro other cats. SO. I am unbelievebly glad that humans have decided that declawing is inhumane, because it is, but capping a cats nails.. well.. nothing wrong with that. If you have house cats, they are still able to use their claws to bat at what they need to, pick up things they need to pick up, show other cats agression in the house, and still give their owner a good whack when

  • @ChloeCarbon they deserve it. Nail caps only last about 1-3 months and then fall off. So it is easy if you don't want to use them anymore, well, you just don't. By far better than declawing, but again, my point is, if man created the house cat, then why can't we cover up their nails so they don't ruin our furniture and rugs as long as they can still use them to do everything they want to? (ok, they can't fight with them, but like I said, they shouldn't be outside anyways). so that's my peace. ;)

  • Do you cap the back paws too, are just the front?

  • @kml609 only the front.

  • i see..your cat LOVES you for doing this...thats why she tries to get off....

why do you do this to your cat!?

  • @Kuschelgangrel Like she said, her cats 'fight' with her other cats so in order to prevent them from hurting each other, she applies soft claws for her cats.

  • @Kuschelgangrel dragongirl is correct, this is done for protection of my other cats and prevention of damages and infection

  • what size do you use, my cats about the same size and id liek to know between small or medium...? im thinking medium but shes considered a small because shes 8 pounds...hmm

  • I wish my evil cat would stay still long enough for me to do that. >.<

  • Thanks for that, and ALL your GREAT videos!! I've thought of using nail caps but I don't think any of my cats will put up with the application process as I can rarely - if ever - get to clip their nails without them throwing an impossible fit. Maybe some day, I'll be able to make it work. Maia is amazingly patient (and adorable, obviously). Did you start her on them when she was a young kitten?

  • @MDKE114 yes.. I started her with them when she was 6 months old

  • good luck getting my cat to sit still. even for the nail clipping.

  • Jesus Christ....I had cats all my life, none of them had ever been de clawed ! I have VERY NICE furniture and a multimillion $ home ! They never ruined any of my stuff, they have the're own jungle room and outdoor enclosure with a waterfall.I LOVE my feline friends !! TRAIN, don't complain....and if all fails, get a fucking hamster !! Seriously !!!

  • @DucatiQueen are you talking to me? or the people complaiing about soft claws?

  • @DucatiQueen O, so you're poor?

  • Oh i wish i would have known about these before i got my cat declawed ill be getting another cat in about a year when i move out so mine can have a friend and i will probley try this with my new cat or i will try it with my cats back feet he scraches alot

  • 1st time i see her!!! awww shes cute seems like a sweetheart ^_^

  • This is great! I should get some for my evil cat.

  • Remember people, soft claws are NOT for accessorizing your cat!(Well, yeah maybe some people think soft claws are accessories) Its for PROTECTION!! Jeez, can't you guys think twice before posting? >_>

  • @DragonGirl48 i dont need to protect my cat. he doesn't hurt me, or himself or the furniture. A healthy happy cat doesn't need this shit

  • @Kuschelgangrel But not all cats are the same, right? Some may claw on furniture, some don't. If they don't, then fine, they need not wear soft claws but some cats do, right?

  • Question for you. Can Maia still retract her claws with the soft tips on? She is sooo cute. She looks just like our cat!

  • @Tishieism yes they can. They only cover the part of the claw that is out.

  • Why is people saying its animal abuse? If it is, why do the company even sell these things. There is nothing wrong with putting soft claws on.

  • Awwww, purple matches with my nails!!!!!

  • For everyone who can't really accept this and understand.

Those softclaws are for there own safety if there are many cats, that and even their owners safety cause cat's claws are razorsharp.

  • I dont find anything cruel about this, the cats dont feel pain, she even telling you what not to do which would result in hurting your cat. And seriously if this is the alterative to RIPPING a cats nail off with declawing then soft paws sounds like a great idea. I know most animal like dogs to small pet rodents need there nails clip now and again, and besides Nails grow back there nothing painful about this alterative.

  • this is sad, poor cat

  • @jewelzzz6 so you think it isnt sad to declaw a cat!!?? Whats wrong with you!?

  • @snowbirdy6 How about just leaving the poor cat alone?

Obviously glueing stuff over the claws is better than ripping them out (and there's something very wrong with countries where this is an accepted practice) and declawing is rightfully considered animal cruelty in many EU countries.

Cats have claws - who'd have thought?

  • @SushiPineapple because I cant leave the cats alone. They sleep with me at night and they kneed my face and it hurts like mad if they dont have nail caps on, plus Maia beats up Loki and requires nail caps so she doesnt rip him apart. There actually are reasons for everything.

  • @SushiPineapple and furniture lol? MY parents want my cats BACK CLAWS declawed because when they jump off of the nice new furniture they leave little scratches. I hope these work.....

  • @BiollanteSpawn Well, how about not having cats, if your parents are so bothered by the claws? Cats have claws - if you can't deal with that, you should get a fish tank, instead of mutilating the animal.

I agree that these soft claws are better than declawing, who could say anything else? But I also think that personal comfort and egocentrism (especially in a petty context like scratch marks on the furniture, your parents are horrible!) do not outweigh the physical integrity of an animal.

  • @snowbirdy6 1- I love this video. My husband and I currently rent an apartment that we don't even care much for just because they won't make us declaw our baby girl - female cat :-) I hate it how popular this practice is here in America. I've recently been told about soft claws but did not want to take her to the vet so they can induce her just to do that. You make it seem pretty doable at home! Thank you so much for those videos.

2- I have that skirt! LOL

  • @jewelzzz6 How is this sad? It's not hurting the cat. It's a better alternative than declawing.

  • @Iluvmusicandsugar how about LET THE CLAWS LIKE THEY ARE?!

and if your cat scratchs's you or destroyes your furniture then i would think about WHY my cat does that! Cat's doesn't needed this nonsense for 2000 years and suddenly a human think "oh my cat need a claw protect and i will make millions of dollars" If you need this stuff, you shouldn't have a cat

  • @Kuschelgangrel How about you shut your mouth? First of all, I wasn't talking to you. Second, I don't even have a cat. And third, even if I did, I would not use them. So go take a nap or something rather than picking online fights. Go find something better to do.

  • @jewelzzz6 Which is more sad-- a cat having the ends of his toes forcefully amputated or someone putting plastic caps on them? I opt for the plastic caps. They don't harm the cat. They are a humane alternative to declawing. Most cats don't even notice them after a while. The caps will shed off in time and you can either replace them or not. Declawing can and has disfigured cats from either severe infections or botched surgery.

  • The are awesome! Harley has taken to clawing carpets at the baseboard and he wore a hole in the carpet at my old apartment, depspite all the scratchers I have for them. I've used the "soft claw" brand and capped 4 toes on each front paw and only trimmed the dewclaws. He shook his paws for maybe 30 seconds and got over it. Hopefully, these combined with boundry spray and scold/praise will break him of this habit. :-/

  • i dont understand this...what u show on this video and what u call "declawing" is not even allowed in my country..how can u "declaw" a cat...or soft claw or whatever u call it..and let them go outside??..even if they dont go outside..its a cats nature to scratch..thats what "cattrees" are there for..im my country if u do that to ur cat..u get put in jail or pay a lot of money of somebody find out..over her its called animal-abuse..u love ur cats and i see that..but i dont understand this,

  • @ujustdontknow This is an alternative to declawing. Declawing is an awful practice. With soft claws, cats are able to do all the normal things, scratch with them, etc. When the nail sheds, the soft claw falls off. It is no permanent solution. And my cats don't go outside. They are indoor cats. Outdoor cats are known to only live to possibly age 5, whereas indoor cats an live up to and possibly over 20 !!

  • Can they still retract their claws when wearing the soft claws?

  • @Banquo85 yes they can..

  • Thnx this helped a lot my friend has a cat that constantly scratches the furniture and i put the claws on and now she scrtches and doesnt damage anything so again thnx

  • what are they used for again? where can you by these Snow? and how early can you start putting soft paws on? like age wise or say nail length?(sry dnt know ur name)

  • @weaslefeets they are used to not scratch your other kitties,or you, or furnitire, or anything else.. you can get them at petsmart, petco, or ebay..etc. We put them on Lucy when she was 3 Months.. but it depends on their nail length..you can look on the package to see...

  • @snowbirdy6 again, you rock. Thank you <3

  • Superglue is not poisonous in small quantities and not at all when dry. Octyl cyanoacrylate is used by hospitals to stick small cuts back together instead of stitches. Also my buddy is a vet med student, they use superglue and paper to close incisions on animals. Once the incision heals, the whole thing just peels off.

  • I can't believe how many people are offended by soft claws. Its so much more humane than declawing. Some cats really need their scratching to be controlled. They should go help out in Haiti or something instead of bitch about cat claw covers. I saw the pink and white french kitty nail covers and thought it was hilarious!

  • Great video! I use Softpaws on one of my 2 very happy and healthy kitties, and think they're a great invention. I can't believe all the people harrassing you for this! They clearly have no clue what they're talking about. Folks -- this is an awesome and humane alternative to declawing. Vets highly recommend claw covers like this. And cutting cats' nails is also not only humane, but important whether or not you use Softpaws, as untrimmed nails can split and break, causing injury.

  • You sound a lot different than when you do talking to Jupiter. I guess it's "baby-talk"

  • i'd never expected that humans do such weird things to their pets... oh my gosh im just shocked. fake nails for cats. wtf?! tell me the sense of this, please.

  • i cant believe people actually use these.

  • I can't declaw my cat. He's an outdoor kitty, if I did that he'd probably die.

  • I think these are a great idea and I think that people need to quit giving you such crap for it. It seems like a lot of people have "perfect" cats that NEVER scratch where they shouldn't.....yea....ok. I believe that! My cat doesn't scratch the couch and rugs when we are around....but I know she does when we aren't because there are claw marks on the couch.

Do people know what happens when a cat is declawed? This is a much more humane answer! Props to you!

  • You shouldn't have cats if yor are not able to raise them.

My cats don't scratch my furniture, but they tried when they were young. There are other ways than manipulate their claws.

I can imagine that many women will think it's "cute" somehow, but I think it's cruel and needless. Superglue is poisonous by the way.

  • @shototsu ok, this is not superglue.. for crying out loud.. this is not poisnous.. do you really think that a cat company will sell something to put ON A CAT that is POISONOUS????????? i dont think so.

  • @snowbirdy6 Well, did you ever smell on cat toys, or do you know "Frontline", the most common anti-flea medicine? Most of the toys are made of cheap, poisonous plastics and Frontline is made of Fipronil, a very agressive poison, used against insects, but not licenced in Europe as a pesticide, but as a medicine for cats and dogs. :/ Well, just 2 examples...But if you think the industry is trustful, then go on.

What is the glue made of? I'm just interested.

  • @shototsu first of all, i don't use any flea repellants because my cats are indoor cats. It reads on the labels that it is poisonous, that's why you have to put it on the back of their necks where they can not reach.... this is a non-poisonous glue that is going on their feet where they are capable of licking and the makers know that. NO one is forcing you to use it on your cats, so if you have a problem with this, I suggest you take it up with the company Soft Paws, not me.

  • I have 2 cats and the male one (Chocolate) is, sadly, declawed. We adopted him that way. His first owners were really horrid. I mean, they were cat breeders but they had all their cats declawed the moment they started ignoring the scratching posts. Our female (Mittens) has claw caps but she doesn't like me, so I stay away =L

  • I get to start doing this soon. Right now I have 3 cats- one is declawed ( I was forced into it) the other two aren't but I'm moving into an apartment and I don't want them to claw the carpet. I trim religiously now but will need to start soft pawing them.

Hordur92- it doesn't hurt them I promise. I'm a vet tech and all 6 of the vets I work for and many others approve of these. As snowbirdy said its just like fake nails on people.

Snow- its nice to see the face behind the voice.

  • I've never heard of this before! It's a smart idea, and so much better then declawing! Although Maia doesn't seem to be the biggest fan haha

  • I think that this soft claws buisness is a great idea. Declawing cats is just cruel in every way possible. 5 stars :3

  • why would you do this to your cat ? i mean i loves my two cats but i just let them do what they do.. i dont paint there nails or whatever just let them be free,,, jheezz

  • @xSoOSeRiOuSx because not everyone can afford to replace rugs all the time. three of my cats are trained to scratch scratching posts, but Loki just refuses and will scratch anything he pleases, therefore.. soft paws!!!

  • @snowbirdy6 u are not serious, are you? u seriously want to tell that u cant afford rugs and furniture? sorry but then u have to buy a rabbit or... softtoys, instead of lil kitties.

  • your cats so good, mine would scratch me to bits if i tried to do that! cute kitty xxx

  • Such as brave kitty. =3

  • I have never heard of thoes :O ty for posting, ima look into em :D

  • OMG. i like it .. and your kitty's expressions.she is way too comfortable with you .. luv it .. ummah.. hugs for the kitty..

  • My boys will have none of that!

  • does we have to do that if we have a cat? (I don't have one)

  • Maia looks really pissed off by the way hahaha it's so funny.... my cat used to give me the same "I'd really like to do the same thing to you" look when I used to cut the tips of his nails.

Maia is so adorable and cooperative hehe

  • This is cruel, cats should be free to do whatever they want, i would never do that to Mia, my cat btw, Mia looks exactly like Maia, this is just like if i would glue gloves on your hand and you could never scratch yourself or eat with a fork or anything

  • @Hordur92 no its not like glueing gloves to your hands, that would be like glueing gloves on the cats entire paw. Soft claws on cats are like fake nails on people but less damagin because cats shed their nails unlike us. Chill out, it really is ok.

  • @snowbirdy6 okay, but I don't understand the reason... I think cats are beautiful as they are even because they are different from us...I also think it is cruel.

  • @kariNz7 well as stated previously, not everyone can train a kitty to scratch exactly where they want them too... many have a mind of their own and this is the best way to protect the cat from their nails coming out, and your furniture and rugs.

  • @snowbirdy6

Agreed. Hordur92, you're not really smart, are you.

  • Those are so good and cute, I love them. =)

People who have cats and declaw them should just NOT have cats... if u really love cats u don't mutilate them. Imagine someone cutting off YOUR nails...would u like that????. Declawing is just absurd!!!

  • @michelleorsatti I know! Declawing isnt just cutting the nail off either, its actually like taking the entire tip of your finget off! Thats how much they have to take off in order to get the the whole nail off! Yuck!!

  • @snowbirdy6 Ohhh Gosh, I didn't know that... that's even meaner =( I can't imagine someone that says likes cats putting the poor kitty through sth like that... that's just so cruel! Ppl that do that should have the same thing done to them. =/

  • @michelleorsatti Give me a break. If Maia was really in that much pain she would have been yowling, hissing and trying to break free. It's a much better alternative than declawing and even though we'd all like to keep the claws in our cats free, it would tear the house apart. Not everyone can pay for damages like that.

  • @KlonoaDreamVids Can u please READ all the comments b4 saying things you don't know? I was AGREEING with the owner of Maia, about a previous comment that she had left me... If u had read it u would have noticed that we were saying that DECLAWING is mean, and not the caps!

  • Woah, do those keep a car from ruining furniture? I have 3 cats, 2 are declawed. :( We adopted them that way, and I think thats horrible to do. But, my other cat has ruined our couches, and some stool things. :/ It's bad.

  • @princessofducks yes it does keep them from ruining the furniture b/c they can't scratch it!

  • @princessofducks Yeah, cars usually ruin furniture in my house. Darn tires are all over my couch :P

  • My cat NEEDS those. (Of course he won't cooperate) XD

  • She was VERY GOOD

  • Daisy would never let me do that

  • aww

  • Maya's look on her face is priceless! LOL

  • i would put them on my cat but i like her being all scratchy! tho if my nephew ever comes to stay she will get them on lol dont want her scratchin him!! thankies for showin me how to it!

  • I thought Kona had nail pollish on before I new you put sot claws on em! XD

you kitties are sooo cute! :3

  • thanks so much for teaching this- where can you get the covers for the nails?

  • @Yalayna87 i like getting them on ebay but you can also get them at retail stores like petco or petsmart but then they are just boring and clear..

  • @snowbirdy6 thanks so much!!
