Ugh. Props for the engineering and hard work that went into this car but it's sad to see the rotary come out of it. You took what made this car special and ripped it out in favor of something average and ordinary.
Why would you say what song it is and have a playlist for richard cheese and then block the fking audio WMG is RUINING our freedoms. How can they take off a video for using their song and showing more people it and do they own the sound of the rx7? No they should have to take the time to carefully take the music out of te video and leave the original sound.

How much heavier do you actually think it gets? I own a lincoln mark 7 with a 5.0 and a RX7. The 5.0 is relatively light. Same handling + Instant torque FTW

I like both motors, but you have to ask yourself, if you're going to get V8 gas consumption with a rotary, why not get the torque too and put in the V8? Old, redneck, whatever... when you look at the numbers and results it just works. If you're talking about style, ethics, honor, or something like that... meh... maybe you should be in fashion or politics, not motor sports.

I completely respect and AGREE about what your saying about rotary setups. You got to admit though, this is different. Usually its an RX7 with an "LS1" and not a 5.0. Either way, its neat.
nightwalker - I bought the car in a state that most first gens can be found in - with a dead motor. The rotary in my car, like so many others, did not last past 70 k miles, so it was pulled in favor of a setup I was confident in working on. I tore it apart and rebuilt it so many times because changes and upgrades were made, over and over again. It amazes me how loyal rotary guys are, getting angry at a stranger for doing a swap - Its not like I painted swastikas on it, I put a v8 in it. Grow up.
Well nightjackasswalkers complaint is slightly valid, the Rx-7 made a name for itself simply because of the Wankel motor so to some that could be equivalent to painting swastikas on it :-D. Either way RX-7s are excellent vehicles. What's it like with a V8? My second gen still has the original motor. Right now I'm in the market for a first gen.
Nice work & fabriacation on this lil' hotrod 580z...I think the 5.0 is a great engine to swap in, even over the sb chevy. Dont mind them sometimes closed minded wankel buffs hating on you. I'm considering a swap like that on a 2nd gen rx-7...if you could/would do it again would you use a 5.0?
