@apostolickid15 Sorry about your depression- maybe it's the music you listen to. You still have not rebutted with substance any point I've made, but I really don't expect you to.
@apostolickid15 I find it interesting that you cannot adequately rebut any point I made, so you resort to personal attacks. That doesn't bother me- I've even been cursed by people for exposing the fallacy in their music. And the comebacks are always the same lame excuses. I guarantee there are people in your church who paid the bills and made it possible for you to have a church, and they feel the same way I do, yet they are afraid to object. I am speaking for those people.
Speaking as a lifelong Pentecostal, I am so sickened by what has happened to our church music. I don't understand why the church leaders whom we trust are tolerating it. Why can't they see what is so obvious to me- there is no anointing to this music- only hype. Volume, physical exertion, hollering, flashing lights,etc... are not evidence of anointing. If this is the kind of music we can look forward to in heaven I for one will be very disappointed.
@twinkleface36 Church is not about the numbers. Church is about the presence of god. We need to please god by out standards (traditions). If there are 5 people that are dressed holy it is better than a thousand dressed like the world. Quality not Quanity
i really like this song since i hear this at the youth camp we have here last 26-29 of april ... the songleader is Bro. Matthew.. and the young people are really blessed with this song !!!! even though its raining ^^
The bible says plainly to sing unto the Lord a new song, the "Good ol" songs are good too but obviously even God likes a new sound and a new song every now and then!!
I feel like I just watched a rock concert... What happend to the good ol holy ghost filled shouting praise and worship songs where you could feel the spirit....The BOTT of 1990 had that...Wow how times and people change... I love to hear Mickey Mangun sing, but even she has changed...Lord help us to remember where we came from...
@rmay9464 DITTO !!! My exact feelings on this! We are not to conform to the world....in any way, especially taking on their sounds, imitating their music, and this is like secular band music/rock concert style music here. Oh my! Wonder what God is thinking about His church. When we get over in glory ~ that's when we'll have a new song to sing...a song that the angels cannot sing, in fact...bcuz' we will then have a new body & be just as He is !!!
I love this song!!!!!! They played this song at socal camp the first nite!! It was awesome!! This is also called the national anthem at our church LOL!!!! =]
I don't like foods with salt in them but they exist and it is up to me as a person to avoid those things that I don't like because sometimes we must realize that when we look beyond the ovious that we find the true meaning of what is being spoken
Are you aware most people only know the first verse of Amazing Grace? It never once mentions God Lord Or Jesus. Many old hyms don't either. But the song does say "whom the Son set free is free indeed." That's God!!!!! Plus recall in Psalms "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord..." God has set us free so were gonna clap louder, sing louder and jump higher for our Lord! God's getting all the glory out of this!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm ashamed that Bro Mangun let this crud be displayed on the platform. This has NOTHING to do with God whatsoever. This is charismatic, lukewarm filth. Is this what the UPC is headed towards? I hope not!
Sir, how does this song have nothing to do with God. It states whom the Son set free is free indeed. Now this is a direct quote from the Bible in this song. Who is the Son? This song is about praising harder and longer than you ever have because God set you free! No more bondage or chains of sin dragging you down. You have the freedom to praise and worship! If this song doesn't represent God I don't know what does.
It's talking about freedom. It doesn't mention "lord" "god" or "jesus". I understand what the song is about, but it's nothing specific to GOD. Isn't that why we're at church, to worship and praise God? Saying that we want to clap louder, that's fine, but God isn't getting glory out of this. I don't like singing songs that don't have the Name of Jesus in them... there's too many of those songs already. And we are the people of the name, aren't we???
zapthecat, I'm sorry you don't like this song... But it's not about what you like. It's about what God likes. Just because His name isn't in it means it's not about Him. This song is about the freedom Jesus has given us. Apparently you are the lukewarm one. Cast your railings elsewhere, the Lord rebukes you. (Jude 1:9)
You call me lukewarm because I want to sing songs about Jesus, instead of singing songs about nothing? Wow. That's bold. This song isn't about Jesus. It's about being happy about something. A newcomer to church doesn't know what it's about. It's charismatic. Might as well throw Jesus name baptism out of your church too, if you just want a feel-good religion that doesn't mention God at all!
Actually I don't want a feel-good religion. This song is about the freedom Jesus has for us all. It's been our church's theme for the revival happening in the area I live in. There are people who are bound in bondage, sin, addictions, bad relationships, demon possession, sick, ect. Jesus is healing people from cancer, mental disorders, drugs, alcohol, unholy living, and so much more. Just because it doesn't have the word Jesus in it doesn't mean it has nothing to do with Jesus.
The enemy is subtle, and slowly he washes everything holy out of our songs and preaching, until we don't know that it's even gone, and we are jumping around rejoicing about... what? It's catchy and it has a beat, so jump around! And then our doctrine is spiritless and our songs are Jesus-less. I'm just trying to hold a line against that. And it looks like you are pushing for it.
If you don't like the song, oh well. But to say that these people are rejoicing because it has a good beat is just as bad as saying Jesus' healings were of Beelzebub. They're rejoicing because of what God has freed them from. Jesus freed me from depression, suicidal thoughts and attempts, healed my body, and done the same and so much more for other people I know. Why is it wrong to sing about the freedom Jesus has given us? I'm not tryin' to bash you, I just don't get what's so wrong with it.
I don't like that this song is being sang in church, under the guise of worship. It's not worship. It's rejoicing, yes. And we know why most people are jumping, but the truth is that God has been washed out of the song completely. How many more songs will come along, and wash Jesus out of them? How many more messages will make you jump and feel good, and yet they won't have God in them? The enemy is subtle. He works slow. If someone doesn't hold fast to sound doctrine now... who will tomorrow?
zapthycat, I understand your concern, but this song does not push Jesus out of the picture. People can push Jesus out of the picture, but the song will always be the same. Yes, we are at the Endtimes, and there will be a great falling away, which I believe is happening today. But complaining about a song won't save souls. Prayer is what you need to be doing. God bless.
Thank you cfinn100. I just want people to know what the Bible says, not what I say. The Bible says He will give us freedom. And He has for me. If the Bible never said He'd give us freedom, then I would probably not be to happy that POA is singing this song. But He does, and whether I like this song, or that song, hate this song or that song, I'll just stick to what the Bible says. It's not there to always make me feel good. It's there to correct my life, that I may be with God in the end.
@jonn86 I agree somewhat to your statement ~ it's just that when the music gets sounding like secular music, or rock concert style music....can't help but wonder if God is pleased with this.
@Gospelmusiclady08 Question. Did you grow up in the church? When I think of worldly music, I think of the music I used to listen to. I think of rap, heavy metal, songs that are about girls kissing girls and liking it, or songs about money and drugs.
I don't find this song worldly, but I have heard some music on a local Christian Radio Station that sounds worldly. The words were about God, yet the music to seducing and sexual and even aggressive with screaming. Well that's my point of view.
@Gospelmusiclady08 Oh, and the reason I asked if you grew up in the church is because I didn't, and I am a musician/singer, and I know music pretty well, especially worldly music. Yeah, times are going to change, and we're singing a new song unto the Lord... In this case, singing about the Freedom Christ has given us. You don't know how much this song means to me. I was an addict, and was possessed. Most of my life I was bound down strongly. If God didn't free me, I'd be dead today. God bless :)
@Gospelmusiclady08 Do you think that we should set on our hands and listen to some opra sounding person sing a song that is 100 years old??? The church's music need to be upbeat and alive. We need to allow people to express their feelings. God blesses this type of music. I really think God is not pleased with people singing without heart or emotion. God is not pleased with a dead church with dead music.
I appreciate your view, never lose focus on the Name. I believe that this song needs to be taken in context, they are in a oneness pentecostal church that is strong in the doctrine.. the name is assumed and everyone there and here knows that, it would be redundant to state it in every sentence of every song when it is asssumed
Everyone rails against me because I'm trying to hold firm to sound doctrine. It is the enemy's desire to remove Jesus name from every song and every book we have, and this song shows exactly how successful he is becoming. I don't need Jesus name in every line, but I don't want any veiled or watered down messages like this one. This song is about FREEDOM, sure. But it doesn't have Jesus in it. I prefer to hold to the apostolic doctrine. I don't want songs to glorify Jesus. This one doesn't.
Thank you. We are Jesus-only folk because the Bible teaches to do all things in the name of Jesus. That of course doesn't mean we need to say Jesus in every verse and chorus. When someone goes to church and hears the choir sing this song, I guess you can put 2and2 together. Again thanks for sharing your view because it's just as simple as you stated. God bless. :)
In this version he ad-libs a bit but the original version by Matt Bushard goes. I wanna praise a little longer than before! I wanna lift my hands higher than before! I wanna shout a little louder than before! I wanna shout a little louder than before! Freedom (8X) I wanna worship a little deeper than before! I wanna love you more than before! I wanna dance more freely than before! I wanna dance more freely than before! Freedom (8x)
Praise God with joy is not a matter of taste, therefore, it doesn´t matter if you like it or not, the glory and honor is his and for him.
