@MultiSheepsheep It's widely regarded as one of the finest examples of PC game design, so yes, I'd definitely recommend it. However if you do, approach it with an open mind. It's strengths won't jump at you on first sight, instead the graphics look outdated. The screenshot from this video is with a user made graphics mod even, but the sounddesign is excellent and much of the game's appeal. I really can't do the SS2 justice in the limited space of a single youtube comment.

@MultiSheepsheep People keep going on about how SS2 is scarier than more recent games, but honestly I think that's mostly nostalgia. I'd say if you were fine with Dead Space and the likes, you'll be fine with SS2. =)

SS 1&2 get to your mind. They are mindfuck.

That’s their appeal. It’s a slow and creeping toxin, that tries to make you crazy.

If modern games are more like SAW, then SS is more like Ringu / Ju-On.

Oh, and: Amnesia – Dark Descent. Pants shall be shat! ’nuff said!

Anyhow, the thing that startles me the most is the lack of enemy footsteps. Searching a chest and getting smacked in the face by a pipe hybrid always makes me jump.

Yeah I agree, but I rather have that, then have the normal footsteps that tell me where they are. Keeps the game scary

The creepier thing happens after the initial fear of the voice and odd phrases; when you pick up on the fact that half these hybrids in the game are telling you to run and apoligizing for smashing your head in. Or the ones yelling "Kill me". That's one hell of a dynamic, and really brings to life the horror of the parasite infecting these guys and the loss of will to a hive-mind. There'll never be a game like this again.

FEAR has startling moments and at least one enemy type per game that's specifically designed to make the player jumpy, but the fright-factor is lowered by the fact you can kung-fu most things or shoot them to death.

Amnesia was genuinely unnerving if you went into it without watching people on youtube make fools of themselves by screaming at the screen, something that almost never happens in real life unless your computer suddenly breaks down.

@Trapperx89 i almost did that, then i played more, and then i started playing only two hours till i was too scared, then, i deleted my save data, and i started again and choosed O.S.A and i lost my fear because with cryoquinetic(PSI hability) you can shot 32 times, and if you upgrade your psi habilities you can shoot up to 72 times (or more)...
