  • seems josh rouse sometimes their voice

  • absolutely amazing! love it

  • Oh-ho-ho Merry Christmas you guys!

  • this isn't fugazi...

  • 5 people were a remainder.

  • That was so bad ass it made my leg hurt...

  • 5 people need their heads examined.

  • @TaintedBreezes five people may be deaf

  • anyone know the tableturre to the first part??askdjflqsjhdf

  • there is nothing about this that I can say I dislike.

  • Fugazi cover! its good tho.

  • @1damienbear1 have you ever heard fugazi's long division? ;D

  • @BadCompany2113 OH SHIT. you mean the musical version? yea, it's disparate in that very manner actually. It's music.

  • @1damienbear1 Two completely different songs dude!

  • I absolutely love MediaOutletOnline for getting f~ree s0ngs like this one. You should try and find it using Google.

  • NICE Rickie...

  • oh...why the video dubs?

  • Fuck yeah Clifford the Dog.

  • I miss my Silvertone bass amp

  • I love the guy who's sitting near the ceiling...

  • It's rare to find a band as musically talented nowadays. They rock shit live, Benjamin Gibbard has an amazing voice

  • From what album are these songs, of the series "live in Seattle"?

  • @perraolorosa This song is from "Narrow Stairs," as are a lot of the songs in this video series. "Brothers on a Hotel Bed," though, is from the "Plans" album.

  • Ah, good. I'm not the only one that sweats whilst drumming.

  • @PotatoDonki I'm pretty sure we all do...?

  • am i the only one who came from a fugazi video

  • @tourettes84 Nope I did. Fugazi is awesome. I thought they were going to try and cover it.

  • the Bass is amazing lol!

  • Love this whole album but this is version is ddazzling

  • @hyposkittle07 It's not a Fender P bass, It's a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub, now known as a 44-64. Bridge is wrong for a Fender and you can see the headstock shape isn't Fender. It's an easy mistake to make, though.

  • His voice gives me goosebumps.

My heart beats rapidly when I listen to their music.

    Absolutely fantastic.

  • Original maker of sign has probably moved here by now.

  • That bass tone is fantastic!!!!

  • @willp521 It is :) Fender P bass through Ashdown combo if youre interested :)

  • can not wait for there new album!! love this band

  • Wow That really is better then the album!!xD

  • This legit sounds better than it does on the album!

  • <3 Telecaster

  • so very gooood!

  • love this song

  • Is it just me, or ben looks way better with his mighty sideburns? xD

  • 5 retarded robots don't like dfcf :/

  • @vsadlarry It's a good thing that 360 competent humans do like DCFC. :)

  • they may not me "hot" but theyre beautiful♥

  • Oh-ho-ho.

  • Don't mess with Death Cab, we fans will FREAKING EAT YOU!

  • better than the album version

  • My recent favorite song...lol when I get my prescribed glasses i want ones like the lead singer's.

  • One of my favorite songs of DCFC,

  • death cab for cutie is a really, really bad band, like they suck something awful; but this is a pretty good song

  • @sXe53 You're crazy :x That's like.. two 'really's. .__.

  • @Malice813 I'm not crazy, they're just not really that good; this one and Cath are like, their only good songs

  • @sXe53 Then you must have a pretty crappy taste in music, we don't need to get your opinion seriously, if you don't like them don't comment.

  • @sXe53 you're a fucking idiot

  • @sXe53 Looks like we have a classic troll case on our hands here :p

  • @sXe53 thats insane! theyre amazing. theyre almost perfect live, theyre good guys, they make great music, theyre all very talented, he can write deep lyrics that actually mean something, unlike all this bullshit out now that cant even be really called music, and theyre better than anything you could ever aspire to be.

  • @sXe53 Or, it's fleeting opinion and you're being extremely ignorant.

  • Zach Galifianakis holding it down on bass.

  • @jazzdrummer8 Shit, youre right, and its not just the beard, he really looks like him

  • rickenfuckinbaucher

  • Man.. i actually try to tell people about this band and how amazing they are and all i get is... "that soungs gay.." until they get curious anough to actually look them up and realize that their an eargasm... shoulda listened to me tha first time bitch D:<

  • thank you, my girlfriend, for bringing to realize how amazing these guys are.

  • DCFC rocks! \m/

  • im a death cab fan since transatlanticism. this song, in my opinion, is by far the most talented work from narrow stairs. but of course, i lov'em all!

  • @nomukodonosor no no no no talking bird silly

  • @cw32 talking bird is a simple song. a good one i might add, but not the best!

  • Sorry to disappoint but neither Ben Gibbard or Chris Walla play G&L guitars. They are both playing Fenders. Just look at the headstocks, they are different from G&Ls(who have very distinctive headstocks). Nor are they listed as artists who play G&Ls on the guitar makers own website.

  • @adnanteacher but on the DCFC website it lists them as playing G&L. And also Ben is definitely playing a G&L bluesboy. sorry to disappoint ;)

  • @adnanteacher ben definitely plays G&L bluesboy's, as that is DEFINITELY a bluesboy headstock, distinctively different than a fender's ;)

  • @adnanteacher

Iyt's been said before, and I have to comfirm: Ben is DEFINITLY playing a G&L bluesboy in this clip. As far as I know, he uses em all the time, both live as in the studio. Check other clips from dcfc concerts, g&l for sure.

  • I love it when Chris Walla uses photos when playing to get in the mood and inspiration, as you can see in 2:47, Jesus Christ, I fucking love Death Cab!

These are real bands that gives off a really nice vibe, and soo much energy, and intense moments like these when thay play together.

man! how I wish to be in a band like this! I soo want to jam out with this band really bad!!!

  • @WhoReadsMyNameStinks There is actually a way of expressing your dislike of something without being a douche, you know.

  • holy shit,my new favourite band. only happens once or twice a year.

  • 3:30

  • sick song

  • DEATH CAB!<33

  • i wanna jam with these guys so bad

  • one of their better songs off a not so good album.

  • I hope this on there next cd, verry good song.

  • its on narrow stairs

  • what, did you get this cd? Wake up dreamer, its on narrow stairs.

  • I fuckin love this ssong to bits and Death Cab can do no wrong in my eyes...or ears ...or.... whatever?

  • some dissonance, maybe because someone's out of tune, but good band regardless

  • That's a deliverate "dissonance" so its not out of tune, its the way the song was writen.

Go listen to jazz or something

  • i love this song

  • I've just checked a couple of the videos from this session and I'm totally amazed how well they sound live... It'd be hard to listen to both the original and this and determine the difference... the only thing I could go on is slight reverb levels

  • I'm mad at myself...I only discovered DCFC about two years ago. where has this group been all my life?

  • Didnt you watch The OC like everyone else?

  • is it bad to like their new stuff more than their old stuff?

  • Depends on what you define as 'old stuff'.

  • Definitely not, their new music is more mature, which many people prefer. I conversely would rather their older stuff because its youthfulness is ageless. See what i did their?

  • @NickNewhook Yes, very poetic :)

  • Why thank you queen of Amber ;)

  • No problemo ye poet ;)

  • lol @ the tiger poster.

  • Ben gibbard is such a warrior poet, that's why ATQ, the postal service, and DCFC are my favorites =P

  • Love this song. Ben Gibbard is a GENIUS.

  • I think this band is serious team work. Ben can create amazing things but the other folks do their part really excellent. McGerr is really amazing, in every song.

  • <3 Death Cab.

  • Does Ben write all of the songs himself, or are he and Chris songwriting partners? If they are, they are the Lennon and McCartney of their generation.

  • @jjp009 I wouldnt go as far as saying that but they do write good songs together.

  • jurrobear: Well, of course there will never be another Lennon and McCartney, I was exaggerating a bit, but I just discovered DCFC in Septmber this year and I've listened to nothing else since. That's how captivated I am by these guys. Serious talent.

  • Ben has written most DCfC songs by himself. The band members did contribute to some of the songs on Narrow Stairs and are credited for it.

One that stands out, I think, is that Brothers On a Hotel Bed on the album Plans was actually written by Chris Walla.

  • Brothers on a hotel bed gave me the chills. Is that about the Berlin Wall or somethin? Or Gaza? the meaning is so deep its hard to be sure what exactly it's taling about. I'm sure it's political tho. DOES ANYONE KNOW???

  • That song isn't political at all. It's about feeling tied down in a conventional life and relationship. The lyrics allude to a mature guy but "these wrinkles masterfully disguise the youthful boy below". He wants to escape "the city where we still reside" so he can be adventurous by "leaving everything behind"

But this has caused their feelings for each other to become more distant and platonic than romantic: ("now we say goodnight from our own separate sides Like brothers on a hotel bed")

  • hmm... that makes sense. hehe lol i wish it WAS political. it wudda made a nice political song. but yea, im happy with this too. thanks for the correction. cheers ;-)

  • Wrong song?

  • @jerryandauntie

    Really??

Thats one of my favorite DeathCab songs. Interesting..

  • Walla does a lot of solo work that doesn't really get much credit or release. He did bring out a solo album called "Field Manual". I highly recommend it.

"The television was snowing softly as she hunted for her keys" :)

  • I think in this interview on SAUCE, the night before 'Narrow Stairs' was released, Ben said that he writes the songs. He however didnt say that Chris didn't help. But like, Chris wasn't mentioned as havng helped or otherwise. I think it's just Ben.

  • I only recently discovered DCFC. AWESOME band. I wish I have been on board earlier.

  • @primemover17

you've got alot of catching up to do :p

  • yes every album is AMAZING. ben is a TRUE POET....he is truly amazing.

  • same here; my friend showed me DCFC and i was instantly hooked.

  • @primemover17 just like everyone else lol xD I have this friend who absolutely claims he bought ben's you can play these songs with cords album right when it was out :/

  • So zeta epic

  • i wish i coudve been one of thoughs camra dudes

  • People should WATCH this drummer. This guy is really amazing... everysong of this band has a great drumwork. Death Cab, amazing band.

  • people should listen to this song more

  • Jason McGerr is a real technician. Ben and the boys are lucky he's the one marking time.

  • ][_, {[]} ][_,

  • this was the only song I liked on the album...

  • I fuckin LOVE this band, they can do no wrong!

  • Comment removed

  • I listen to deathcab at work - Starbucks. i feel so lucky. Haha.

  • psychedelic. AAAAhhhh. I love them so.

  • I ♥ Ben Gibbard! XD

  • I love how Ben's voice is always in pitch and perfectly flawless. It makes me swoon.

  • how is the audio so perfect?

  • because thats how they recorded the album they did live recording for this album

  • they plug everything into a sound board

all their equipment is set and equalized

then they just record and ...

    waa laa

    perfection.

    ;)

  • LoL nice French! "Waa laa"

  • thank you

    ;)

  • LoL no problemo :)

  • i would kill to just sit in and watch them write songs and rehearse

  • uh...what the hell is he saying in the chorus?

  • Something about remainders

  • he had sworn not to be what he'd been before

to be your remain remain remain remainder

to be your remain remain remain remainder

to be your remain remain remain remainder

  • Darn, I was hoping this was a Fugazi cover.

  • I'd give you 500000 thumbs up if I could.

  • i know!

  • ya thats what i was expecting too.

  • So this is a relationship song...

Long division...is a problem...a couple far apart on some issue...

So the remainder is the couple going back and forth...

She never envisioned him as a person capable of such deceit...

  • Long Division - It breaks down a division problem into a series of easier steps...the remainder is the amount "left over."

  • The bass player looks like Zach Galafanakis(the guy from The Hangover).

  • you should watch his standup!

or tim and erics awesome show great job

the hangover doesnt really give him justice

  • i have to agree, live at the purple onion is unadulterated zach and it's way better than the hangover

  • yea dude live @ the purple onion was great

  • epic

  • Mathematical songs have never been so good

  • This band is like the doors meats johny cash...

if you know what i mean :)

  • Pure genius.

    I love DCFC!

  • so intensely complicated meaning but simple idea

    ie:long dvision

  • The drummer looks like the guy from the Zappa to Zappa Tour

  • go back to seattle

    lol. I LOVE DEATH CAB

  • why do all of the really great songs get almost no attention? Coldplay's songs are the same way, Crest of waves is one of btheir best songs, and almost no one has ever heard of it(even among big coldplay fans) personally I love dcfc all their songs actually have a meaning behind them!! you rock death cab :]]

  • This band is their own genre

    Aha, but seriously

DCFC should have their own genre label

  • Okay guys, I gotta hand it to ya. Superb putting together notes skills.

    PLINK PLINK PLINK!!!

  • They are influenced by old time bands like beatles but also indie rock bands like superchunk, built to spill, fugazi etc so i'd say the dude on page three is correct this is a nod to fugazi.

  • wow.

It sounds exactly like the cd.

I love death cab, they're amazing.

    <3

  • Yeah they are!!! JK

  • i love brittney martin

  • title and registration is good too

  • How do they define their own music...what genre do they say they fit into? Who are their influences? I'm new to them....so please don't flame....

  • They're unique I guess but I don't think you could compare them to any other band. They have more feeling and meaning in their lyrics than Coldplay or Snow Patrol and, I think, better musical skills. The lead singer, Ben Gibbard, had a band called Postal Service before this so I guess you could have a look at them although I don't think they're still a band...

  • Thank you. An honest answer and no attitude.
