Hello Kevin, CCSI# 34004 here myself. Just wanted to tell you that your videos are great. Though as many videos I see none of em actualy show that "tracert" and "traceroute" command on host and on devices are also implemented. It's implementation is limited BUT it does let you trace the route to webserver. And in 3 tickets out of 4 on the Cisco Demo it actualy quite clearly helps to pinpoint problem and save some time on finding the device to look at.
my next question is: in third video we first try to solve the ticket 2 and we see that we cannot ping and we look for eigrp routing issue but we could not decide that problem depends on eigrp and you did not answer the ticket 2. we go back to ticket 1 and face that problem is interface status but ticket 2 is unanswered :)
@burakbbilgin Actually, if you watch the video again, you'll see that this video is solving Trouble Ticket #1 (not #2). After we hypothesize what might be going on in Trouble Ticket #1, we Abort that trouble ticket and check the suspected configuration issue against a baseline configuration (i.e. Trouble Ticket #2's configuration). Then, we solve Trouble Ticket #1. Similarly, you could use Trouble Ticket #3 as the baseline config for solving Trouble Ticket #2.
i have watched your Bull's Eye videos. i understand your abort approach but my point is different.
in your second video at first ticket you can ping the ip address 172.16.1.14. but in your third video again first ticket you can not ping the same ip address. why is that?
every time you abort the ticket, is the question order changing ? i am confused about that.
@burakbbilgin Great question! Whenever you run Cisco's Exam Demo, the questions are randomized. Since I recorded the strategies at different times. The trouble tickets are not the same between strategies 2 and 3. However, clicking the Abort button does not randomize the questions. I hope that helps!
kwallace, I completed three tickets 100% correct, and the fourth one I got two of three right, and I was I sure I was right but it turned out I was looking at the wrong interface in the config. I decided to try the abort technique after that and the router and the switch returned some incorrect information from the pings. I ended up exiting out of each simulated device and starting over. This cleared up the problem. Have you ever heard of that happening before?
@kwallaceccie Thanks for the response. I was pinging the web server from the various routers and switches to find where it was unsuccessful. I refreshed a couple of the devices and then I found where the pings actually stopped. I wonder if I should exit out of each device once I am done with a problem. The difference between this TT and previous ones was that I used the "abort" button. BTW, great videos. Thanks for producing them. I look forward to the watching the CCVP ones.
Thank you very much for this great video. I have a question: How come the client was able to receive a valid IP address from the DHCP router in spite the fact that the link between R4 and DSW1 was down? Am I missing something?
@hopes26 Unlike the real exam, Cisco's practice trouble tickets use static IP address assignment, rather than using DHCP. All the best in your studies!
Great videos, Mr. Wallace! I'm taking my TSHOOT tomorrow, and didn't know about this abort strategy. Certainly going to use that during the exam, in case i have doubts.
@kwallaceccie Yes, just cleared TSHOOT! Really a great exam. If you know what you're doing, you will be fine. Had to use that abort strategy twice. Thank you so much, Mr. Wallace!
very very useful information....TSHOOT exam is really helpful for our real world knowledge...thank you Kevin for sharing your tips with us!!..I will take my last TSHOOT exam in January!!
All this was really helpful. Took the exam today, passed with a 964. This was certainly beneficial. Understanding the fundamentals is key to being successful on the exam but having the ability to gather a baseline where EIGRP or perhaps OSPF is working makes its more like a real world scenario. Thanks again Kevin.
Congrats!!! I am also preparing for the exam planing to write next month. Could you please suggest me some good books/material which can be useful for my preparation. I have read the Tshoot certification guide by Kevin. thanks.
@Anarkist2k8 I hope not, because this is not just an exam trick, it's relevant to the real world. For example, when you're troubleshooting your own network, you should have a baseline config against which you can compare a suspected misconfiguration.

passed Tshoot with a score of 1000. I used abort twice..not to compare configs but to check syntax. Thanks for the awesome tip.

@meanboy2000 Congratulations on a PERFECT SCORE! That is awesome, and I'm glad my strategies helped.

@meanboy2000 I don't recall that happening to me. However, you might have been issuing a Ping to an IP address that I didn't try.
