  • that yarn is thick

  • WOW! What a fantastic video! I've always had a difficult time visualizing what was meant by switching yarn and carrying it up the sides. This video made it crystal clear for me now. It's also very helpful to know that this technique shouldn't be used for large blocks of color (mentioned in a previous comment). My one question is, is there a maximum number of rows that you'd recommend using this technique for? Thank you SO much!

  • @TheLoricD hank you so much! You make me so happy! :D

I watched the video again, and it looks like you could do a pretty large block of color of you don't mind the look of the yarn twisted up the sides. The thing is, since the twisting only occurs on one side or the other, the sides won't look the same. It might be worthwhile seeing if you could carry yarn up both sides, just to make the sides look even. Then you could go for quite a while!

  • @TheLoricD I'm really glad you think my videos are clear and the techniques well-explained. • Great video! Very helpful for the shawl I'm knitting with four color stripes!

  • @cat28ful Thanks for the compliment! I'm so glad the video was helpful for you. The shawl sounds beautiful! :)

  • Hey :)

I'm making a red and white stripe scarf & i'm making each color about 16 or 32 rows. Well it's it's as wide as my hand

Could I use this technique for this ?

    Would it show ?

I'm really picky when it comes to this LOL

  • @xAshree I don't think this technique would look very good with large blocks of color. If it were me I would cut the yarn each time and just weave in the ends at the end. :)

  • how do you attach the second color of yarn?

  • @caradactyl4 Just leave a 6-inch tail and start knitting one row with the new yarn! You can weave in the tails at the end. Search my channel for "stripes" and you will see a video on exactly how to do it. :)

  • Thank you! This is so clear and easy to follow.

  • @katemae61 You are so welcome! I'm so glad that this video was helpful for you. :)

  • ok I thought I loved you..but now!! I KNOW I adore you!!! I so needed to SEE this! OOO MGEE, you make it looks so simple! YOU Rock!

  • @sweetdrk1 Oh my gosh, you are so sweet! I'm so glad that my video helped you out. :)

  • I love your yarn, where do you get it?

  • @lahilda Thank you! That is "Bulky" by Blue Sky Alpacas. You can get it at any good local yarn store (call Stix - my favorite - at 406-566-5786 and tell them I sent you!) :)

  • Thank you so much for this video. Your tutorial is much clearer than even some of the professional videos I've seen on this topic. I am a self taught knitter and this will help me be able to add some stylish stripes to the mittens I'm knitting for Christmas :)

  • @TheMamaPowell You are SO welcome. And thank you for the compliments! I'm glad that my video could help you add some style to your mittens. :)

  • Thanks you helped me!!!

  • @Belove1111 You are so welcome! I am so glad that I could help. :)

  • Thanks so much! I made an entire afghan changing colors every 4 rows and cut every time. I hated weaving in the ends. This will be really helpful! If you are using 3 colors changing every 4 rows, can you carry all 3 up the side like that or do you need to cut?

  • @ClassyShortCircuit Thank you! I know, it must have been quite a task to weave in those ends! Ugh. I think you can carry all 3 up the sides - try it and see how it looks! You can also do a single-crochet edging around the whole thing, crocheting around all the ends so you don't have to weave any in :)

  • thanks for that ! I was wonderinghowthat was done and i make simple teddies and never changed colour because of the ends ...now i can Woo Hooo !
