  • Only a voice which is perfect in Mozart can sing everything. Francisco Araiza is the living example.

  • @bodiloto indeed! the best Nemorino of the last 40 years!!!

  • @bodiloto Troppo “di piu”!: dal vivo Araiza the best Alfredo ever, extraordinary Rodolfo, great Stolzing and one of the best Lohengrin and greatest singers at all (this was written by Rodolfo Celletti whom for sure you know who he was, regarding his Lohengrin in La Fenice) and his unreachable Rossini and Donizetti performances. Over 2100 performances in the World Leading Opera Houses and Concert Halls and HE HAS NEVER TRANSPOSED! and I agree he is "Un Tenore Mozartiano"

    Ciao sognatore!

  • @bodiloto I don’t comment only on theory but based on facts. I also attended the Opera since the 60s and have had the possibilities to visit most of the leading Opera Houses in the world, I have listened Araiza life in many of his performances of course including the roles I commented on. That just for your information, I know what I am talking about.

  • @bodiloto My experience started in the 60s. By the way, I was at the performance shown in this video, January 1988, in Munich (opening of the rebuilt Prinzregenten Theatre) where Aragall also sang next to Araiza, E Lucevan Le Stelle. I could enjoy both voices on the same concert and although I am a big Aragall fan I must tell you Araiza had the big success and his voice was by no means small compared to Aragall’s voice. That was not only my perception but the perception of the audience too.

  • @bodiloto If you read properly what I wrote regarding the Lohengrin, I wrote “one of the best Lohengrin” and I challenge you to tell me other better ones that you have listened to life. I listened Araiza in La Fenice and in Berlin. I have listened two others good ones life, one in Bayreuth (P. Hoffman) and another in Zurich (J. Kaufmann) and a couple others not worth to mention.

I wonder which are the tenors that satisfy your ears “dal vivo” I am very curious to read about. jejeje

  • @bodiloto and regarding Rodolfo Celletti, he was a very demanding critic. Most probably he did not shared your preferences but you must admit that he enjoyed a great recognition in the music world because of his knowledge about the art of singing.

  • @TorquemadaR me il signor Celletti mi interessa poco.

  • @bodiloto Anybody has the right to have his own opinion. My opinion is also based on my personal experience (more than 800 performances in leading Opera Houses). I have heard Araiza more than 200 times life and I don’t agree with your comment regarding the size of his voice. Araiza is one of the very few singers who is able to modulate the volume and weight of the voice according to the situation.

  • @bodiloto I would also like to discuss with you about the first class tenors you have heard in the past 30 years with a bigger voice except Pavarotti or Aragall or some real dramatic ones like Giacomini, Atlantov or Galouzine. I am really curious to read your opinion.

  • @TorquemadaRvoi davvero sentire la mia opinione?

Tenori come Fleta,Marconi,Caruso,De Lucia,Gigli,Pertile,Taccani,Escalais,Merli,Tamagno,Paoli,Masini etc.non li sentiremo mai più!Questi Signori erano per me VERI TENORI !

    Ciao.

  • @bodiloto Yes I have understood, your ears became 50 years older and I know that degradation of perception to volume is well known as a normal. I am glad my ears are still working.

I have asked you a couple of times about the first class tenors you have heard in the past 30 years with a bigger voice than Araiza's except the ones I mentioned. I am still waiting for your answer. Can you name 20? 10? 5? 3? I am all ears! or do you prefere to ignore this question?

Come attore Atlantov era migliore per me.

    Ciao.

  • @bodiloto here I share 100% your opinion. Ciao

  • love it!!!

  • ¡ME quito el sombrero, excelentísimo!

  • grandisimo maestro Araiza

  • The best tonor to my taste... this is exactly how I would want to sound like if I were a singer!!! =)~

  • grande!

  • Bravo Araiza!!!

  • Impecable!!!!!!!!

  • Pure beauty and passion! BRAVO, GRANDE ARAIZA!!!

  • Incredible voice ! Top 10 of Best Tenors of All Times !

  • Amazing. No mistakes!

  • bravo

    y es mexicano

    jejeje

Tramontate, stelle! Tramontate, stelle! All'alba vincerò!

BRAVO ARAIZA! Saludos!!!

  • He makes me cry!!!! Creo

  • Tenordiva, and you seem to have fucked up your brains! just answer following question before writing such nonesense: Have you ever seen him live in the past 10 to 15 years? If yes, how many times? and in which roles? have you taken the time to listen to the videos here in youtube? You are just a 22 young boy who is just repeating like a parrot the bullshit some envious colleagues have spread around.

  • when was his last real performance? He's in his 50s he should still be performing

  • Francisco Araiza last performance was a Debut in the Title Role in Palestrina 2008 in Budapest. 2007 he also sang for the first time Sigmund in Die Walküre. If he did that with a ruined voice he is a real phenomena!! You can see here in youtube some videos from Die Walküre.

  • The most versatile singer of the last 40 years as far as quality is concerned. From Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti through Gounod, Bizet, Offenbach, Berlioz and Massenet to Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Cilea and Wagner!! Not to forget Schubert, Schumann, Strauss, Beethoven and many others

His vocal technique proved to bet he most solid one keeping him for almost 40 years at the top!

  • @seoerk I am talking about the excellent technique which helped him to succeed in more than 1600 stage appearances during 40 years.

  • Absolutely marvelous! Omg! beautiful voice and perfect interpretation and technique.

  • Araiza rules!!

  • I must disagree on some points. He's better than Carerras no doubt. But I like Domingo and Pavarotti better. His skill in singing is no doubt impressive but the way he presents the aria shows very little emotion. He looks very robotic up there, and in some ways looks like he wants to shrink into himself. For me, just a great voice is not enough. They need to sell the performance for it to be truly spectacular; this he did not do.

  • Francisco comes from a school where technique means not only great singing but to do it in a way that everyone should thinks it's so easy. Can you notice the release of the last note? That's an A. yet, instead of singing "vincero-p" like Pavarotti used to do, Francisco cuts right on the "fiato" and remains so calm as if he were singing an octave below. It's indeed enjoyable to see a singer who makes thinks look so easy. That's Francisco in ANY role.

  • ---> DTGeek155, probably you are still too young to know but there is a big difference between a concert performance and a stage performance. While in a stage performance acting complements the voice in a concert performance the artist is supposed to transmit the emotion only by the voice and his expression but without the help of acting.

Araiza gives here a master class not only in singing but also in body discipline. Domingo is not a good example of a concert performer!

  • --->Vielfliefer01, perhaps you are right there are differences between a stage performance and a concert performance. And how did you assume I was young? :-p

But perhaps this opposing point of views are about taste; I prefer the stage production rather than the Concert production.

  • He should be more famous than he is! He is the BEST Mexican tenor of the past 30 years. Villazón and especially Vargas are very good, but Araiza is the best!

  • And I think only Araiza of ALL tenors can sing from the lightest Rossini and Mozart roles to Wagner quite well. He has a more lyrical sound than Domingo (much better high notes of course), with more pwoer and richer sound than Italian lyric or spinto tenors, so he can do heavy roles too.

Not to mention he even sings German lieder very well. Very few tenors of the basic Latin school (Italian, French, Iberian, Latin American) have also been quite at home in German opera and in lieder.

  • you forget that he can't sing anymore because he ruined his voice singing turandot and wagner......

  • Oh, did he? I didn't know he no longer sings. A pity! Perhaps one SHOULD stick to only one category of repertoire and stick to it.

  • yeah, he was a wonderful bel canto, mozart tenor....don't know why he went to wagner

  • tenordiva, you seem not to know that every singer undergoes a development in his voice which leads to different repertoires. Best example Fritz Wunderlich who was on his way on singing each time heavier roles and was only stopped by his premature death. If you stick to the same repertoire without taking care of your development you will for sure ruin your voice.

  • Milordvega, Araiza sang the Sigmund two years ago for the first time. Nobody can sing Wagner roles for over one decade and a half with a ruined voice. Fortunately everybody can convince themselves here in youtube of Araiza̕s quality of his voice up to 2007, which just made some colleagues envious. The voice got darker but without loosing the ability to perform the most difficult parts.

  • TenorDiva, you are just repeating such bullshit like a parrot!!. He just sang the Sigmund two years ago for the first time.

  • TenorDiva, I wonder if you have ever heard Araiza live. You seem to be perceptive to rumors. That would mean you have no own criteria or it is based on outside perceptions. Those rumors were launched by envious colleagues almost 20 years ago, but despite them Araiza has been successfully singing all those years up to 2007 better than any one else. I suggest you take a look to all his videos here in YouTube.

  • bravo bravo bravo.

  • One of the best performances of this aria, thank you very much!

  • BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

  • Although I think this aria is much more effective with a real spinto/dramatic voice like Corelli with more passion but this was a surprisingly good performance.

  • nessessen ??

que has ganado tu, quien eres tu?

Y PREGUNTATE QUIEN ERES?..

  • Sr, you are a cretin

  • NO comments!!!!

  • i love it !

  • All that CAN be said is "Ah...perfect!" NO LESS.

None can compare to Araiza- none ever will!- no matter how hard one tries to 'prove' it and it's NOT a matter of opinion. It depends on the simple ability to hear!

  • He is fine but he is lyric, wrong role for his sweet lyric voice and he only sang it in concert not on stage, this was because pavoratti made it very popular and really Corelli for this role complete was best and I am not a Corelli fan but Araiza had or has a fine tenor voice but for lyric roles.

  • his final high note doesn't sound consistent to the previous he just sang.

  • Maestrooooo!!!

  • impresionante, una genio!!!!

  • Why is he always so nonemphatic?

  • emotionally

  • ---> nessessen .. you should better check up your ears!!!

  • Magnificent!!!

  • he sings many wagner-roles, with great voice, why should he give up this role?

  • Bravo !!!

  • A cross between Carreras and Domingo. Yes, I believe that it is indeed too big for him. You see when you craft yourself into a tenor, singing light repertoire, no one is saying easy, you just can't go into Turandot. The phrases in Turandot are LONG, SIMPLE (no ornamentation), and B I G! In Mozart, there are long, phrases with ornamentation, but the sound need not be big.

So his technique comes short to the volume this aria calls for. The Vincero, elegant, but bordering on TENSE, not him.

  • Didn't know Scott Baio sings opera. :)

  • Hmmm....this is kinda big for him, isn't it?

  • some of his mimics here remind me a bit of Mario Lanza's..

  • hansquad:No one can mimic Mario Lanza,God made only one Lanza there will never be another!

  • tenorvoive50: I guess you are "one of those" frustrated singers who never arrived but are rather big in writing bullshit!

  • vielflieger01:you seem so angry why? I was just stating my opinion.Perhaps the truth is to much for you to bear.

  • tenorvoice50: ...and I was just stating my opinion about yours! but perhaps the truth is too much for you to bear.

  • vielflieger: you are the one who sounded angry,by saying bullshit.Franzisco Araiza is ok. Accept it he's only average tenor at best.

  • bullshit!

  • Nice but he paid the price as he has now ravaged his instrument!! Such a shame!

  • This is a lie - just listen to his latest concerts and opera appearances! His voice is in perfect shape!!!!

  • If you can sing Mozart you can sing anything. This is a stroll in the park for him.

  • I much prefer him, as in Francisco Araiza, to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, who just so happened to sing this song.

  • I think he does a fantastic job with this aria.

  • not bad, however his voice is to light for this aria!

  • light?!

  • don't buy his music, he will not need it!!!

He has the rest of the world...to do it. Pum!

  • WOW ! Extraordinaria interpretacion, elegancia, tecnica, emotiva, sublime, grande maestro.

  • Beautiful. His voice sounds much better in this rep than in Rossini, his voice, though flexible, is not light enough and too dark for leggiero roles. I'd love to hear him in La Boheme.

  • Surprising, amazing coming from Araiza. Was probably a bad idea for him to sing too heavy in the long run, but this is an amazing rendition of the aria.

  • I know Franzisco Araiza personally - had a masterclass with him some weeks ago!

He has no limits! One of the greatest tenors ever!

    BRAVO!

  • pamina133:Franzisco Araiza One of the greatest tenors ever, sorry not on this planet!

  • tenorvoive50: I guess you are "one of those" frustrated singers who never arrived but are rather big in writing bullshit!

  • Certainly Francisco is a Tenore leggero but the quality of his voice isn't. His voice is viril and masculine and that's why this Nessun Dorma is so great. I don't think Diego Florez would sound well because the nature of his voice is far more light than Araisa's. I love to see the effortless rendition and above all the moment when he drops the last note. His face is not that of a wrestler after winning a match. Thank you for sharing this great video!

  • This is the sole Nessun Dorma I have been able to find that is not made ugly by straining for the high notes and by warlike overemphasis of the word vincero.

  • Araiza as Calaf? I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it. Nice job -- thanks for the clip.

  • Nice but too close of his limits. Is not a role for him. Tenore Leggero

  • What a delight! I have never heard Araiza sing this aria from Turandot! What a shame he never recorded this opera in the role of the Prince! (Is there not a recording where he sings one of the trio of Ping, Pang or Pong?) Such a master of the voice! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Eventhough his voice is more for Mozart or Rossini, I like his Nessun Dorma, because Francisco is such a great singer and artist that he accomodates his instrument to any challenge and overcomes

  • Je t'aime Araiza! I never liked this song until I heard him sing it!! Thank you so much for posting it!!

  • Eternal Araiza... Breathtaking!

  • Is this the inauguration concert for the Prinzregententheatre in Munich 1988?

    FANTASTIC!!!Thank You for posting it!

  • I have never had the chance to listen to this. Thanks for posting it.
