You mean analyser? An equaliser is a device which actively tried to do something with the signal it's given; an analyser just displays the volume for the various frequencies in the signal.

I like a lot various LED gadgets, especially music-related ones, like color organs, etc. Do you share technical details of this project please? Schematics and firmaware? I would be very interested to make a "clone" of this toy :)
