The fact we can do this sort of thing in mixing and DJing digitally 2 and a half decades later at home better than they did back then, is becase they as Spuntik tag them themselves with 'Invented The Furure'. Its like saying Metroplos isnt a Fritz Lang film as w can shoot better footage on a camcorder..yes, we can now, back then that was groundbreaking and the Moroder early demos were trying to break that new ground. If you read any articles Sputnik and Moroder will tell you about the Horses.
The entire point of not releasing it is that.. it's was just experimenting with stuff before they nailed down a sound. Mixing in samples and film clips, adverts and the likes weren't common 25 years ago, so Sputnik and Moroder were inventing the sound as they went. Tony James has mentioned things like the Horses mix an Mordoder has too.
I have been a sound recordist for films and done work with artsits signed to Sony so I have an ear too and a love of Sputnik. They were very ahead of their time and innovative which is why I like them. Moroder is very inventive and if you watch South of Watford you'll see Moroder in the studio with Sputnik recording Love Missile F1-11. If you read interviews with Moroder and Sputnik the Horses mix is actually mentioned, Tuning guitars and horses aded in to experiment with bits and peices.
i wish to dispute that is genuine Moroder material, im a BIG Moroder fan, and i doubt very much that Giorgio Moroder actually had anything to do with this amateurish offering, sounds more like something cobbled together on home decks to me, and as an EX-DJ i think that gives me an ear for these things.........
The pic was from an old Record Mirror that came out just before the Albert Hall concert, hence Martin being in a Sputnik style Rollerball outfit. I used it for Massive Retaliation when I got a copy without a cover.

No wonder this mix was unreleased. It's nowhere near as good as those that were!
