deriik2020...for u to say something like that your not a real SES fan...ive chatted with sean after shows...if u think its all a joke ur a fraud....dont listen to em anymore
I did not really rep my views well so sorry but it's that their delivery of the truth is so over the top that yes it is freakin funny and if u don't think so fine but if u can't even see it u need to be more realistic. If I laughed and ignored the message that's one thing but I laugh b/c it's sadly tru. This is an insane world and their words are blunt, accurate assessments of some of the worst of life and I've gotten enough 1st hand exp w/ it that I can laugh if thats how I wanna deal with it.
Also more than anything it's my 1st hand exp with a TON of the shit they sing about that I can't help but laugh. What am i suppossed to do curl up and cry? F*** no. Again tho I did a terrible job explaining that all I said was "the world's so full of it u might as well accept it and laugh if u wanna not go crazy" so i alluded to it but I should have explained fully. If u still have a prob I dunno what to tell u except f*** u and get over it but u should be good now.
lol... sean is actually a VERY big fan of using brutal sarcasm in his songs, which sort of makes many of them almost seem funny in a way. i think you need to talk with him a little more.
Its fairly common in punk / less often in grunge. It gives it that 'shove it in their ignorant faces' feel.
obviously he doesn't use any of that in this song, but you get the point.
"proud to be" "every sunday" "this is war" "all my problems" "the hit" "loser" "jesus..." "the freaks" "vultures" whatever there's a few more but you get it. just pay attention to the attitude in the songs, there's some almost comical intent, because he is indeed making fun of the worlds ignorance.
Look I LOVE this band. Absolutely LOVE it. But I really can't help but think they're joking or at least poking fun of their own style of music when they write songs like this and Loser. I mean maybe I'm missing it and actually laughing at them but I think this is suppossed to be a bit of a mock of stalkers and Loser a mock of hopelessness b/c the world's so full of it u might as well accept it and laugh if u wanna not go crazy. The laughter (and great rock) they gave me saved my life either way.
B/c everytime my friend or a relative has a relapse adn f***s up I can't help but laugh b/c the damn songs are such a true reflection of things we know exist in our society but don't exactly see. I did a terrible job explaining it so I can't complain about u overreacting but that's why. To an extent it's my way of dealing while someone else might have to go through the blues. Just the other week a stalker almost killed my friend so to hear this song im like "Holy shit haha dude wtf." Get it now?
Oh good, not that i hate the song being accoustic but i like electric guitar being played and all that :). Yeah i saw that dont eve rleave accoustic that was pretty cool :). This album is going to be insane

good examples of SeS songs that use this:
"holes"
"fight of a suburban couple" <--fucking awesome
"refill me"
"gods army"
