The first episode made me think this was a kids show. But it's actually pretty dark and serious at times. I'd like to think of it as an adult show for the young at heart.
im really into the merlin aruther thing and yes i am a fan girl but as other commenter said it so obivous my agree with your brother and i would love for it to happen in the series but im scarried it would turn to much like eastenders or hollyoaks :s
@kibaxasuma It's from Ella Enchanted, called "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". It's played at the end of the movie, where Ella and the prince sing and dance. Ella is played by Anne Hathaway and the prince is played by Hugh Dancy. I think.

When Colin and Bradley were asked if Merlin and Arthur were in a gay relationship, they did say no, but Bradley was flattered by the fact that so many people could pick up on the special connection ("very, very strong friendship") between the characters.
I wish they did add some underlying romantic twist... but that's just my fanboy heart talking.
On a more objective note: I've watched the first 5 episodes and I didn't sense anything from their interaction.
Out of the 5 episodes I've seen, Arthur goes to Merlin's rescue once (when he's poisoned.) The way it played out wasn't gay at all, though. It seemed like proper justice given that Merlin had already saved Arthur's life *three* times by then. (I'm not even counting the griffon/clay thing.)
That's really strange, I saw some pretty amazing chemistry between them in episode 1. But, if you're wanting to find something more obvious, wait til episode 10. "Keep the magic secret." = code for ???
Yeah I think the gay love thing was unintentional but its there and it is so obvious, its not just the slash-loving fangirls who see it, even my (very straight) brother watched one episode and said "are they meant to be gay or something?" lol. Arthur going on a quest to save his beloved boyfriend who drank poison to save HIM. . . Ahhhh.

WOW! I thought that scene in episode 3, where Merlin drank the poison and Arthur felt he had to go and save him was probably the most obvious. Usually Princes would do that if his lady were sick or dying but Merlin is just his man servant but Arthur didn't even listen to his father, whoa! Arthur must REALLY care for Merlin!
You know, I really want to see Merlin jealous when Morgana makes a move on Arthur or Arthur jealous when Gwen makes a move on Merlin. You would know they care for each other
