I have a les Paul too. But here are some tips, I noticed you were picking the strings to hard, try easing your hand and rhythm to make it easier. Also, try playing at least 2 hours a day so you build up callus. When you build that up it won't hurt as much when you press down on a fret. It will also help you from muting any notes. good luck and remember to practice lil dude :)

Actually if you know a little of Gibson´s history during the end of 50´s and early 60´s the Les Paul was out of the market and Gibson introduced the SG as a Solid Body Les Paul and indeed the boy´s guitar says in between the neck and the neck pickup LES PAUL CUSTOM MODEL
