I cried when I heard dam passed. My best friend called me the morning of Dans passing to tell me how sorry he was about Dans death . I introduced him to Dans music in 1974 when I was recording a cassette
Message to him while overseas in the navy . Great friend to have called me and say how sorry he was about Dans passing, he knew I took it hard. Thanks John
Two years ago we lost one of the great voices of our time. Sing on to the angels, Daniel Grayling. We love you and always will and one day will understand.
I grew up in Wallingford, CT! I'm in my early 30's now and thanx to my mom's Dan Fogelberg records I became a fan at an early age. I played his records all the time. I now have a few of his songs on my iPod. He is very sadly missed in our house.:-(
im 23 and my mom, who loved dan for 30 years plus, just introduced me to him so lemme say this guy is a musical genius....i really wish he was still around after i understood how awesome he was ;(
Enjoy getting to know the guy many of us grew up with. There are no songwriters today, like we had in Dan. We were spoiled; about every year or so, Dan would come out with a masterpiece, through the hard rock era of the early 70s, through the disco era of the late 70s .... his chords run deep, his words sear the soul and touch the heart. I'll say this: If I had any musical ability at all, THIS is exactly what I'd do. Dan's music lives forever. Enjoy Souvenirs, Captured Angel ... etc., etc.
Fogelberg is a genius and a legend. Even if he never sang one note, I would pay good money just to stand in the same room with this guy and shake his hand.

No disrespect to the dead but most of the concert clips of fogelberg singing - both from 1991 and 2003 - sound nothing like he did on his records. We all get older and our voices change somewhat, but his was dramatic, and unfortunately, for the worse. Was he a chain smoker or just hoarse at every concert he ever did?
He had his tonsils removed, because he was having problems with them. That lowered his voice. You will notice it between The Innocent Age and Windows and Walls.Did concerts in 1985 & 2002 and he was awesome. He had smoked, gave that up many years ago.Live concerts on You Tube doesn't do his voice justice. Sorry!!I have both Greetings and the PBS/ Soundstage 2003.He sounds good.Touring and doing 30 shows can take a toll on the voice.Listen to Sometimes a Song.He sounded really good.
Dan was human and his voice and art evolved as he aged. He aged like a fine wine and just got better, even though he was incredible from youth! What a gifted, intuitive guitar player! What a man! I bet Dan did not feel like singing his songs the same exact way each time, year after year. He continued to grow and evolve! Everything changed except his talent, integrity, privateness. He was human, a fantastic musician, great sailor, humanist, and fine human being. Enjoy! Miss you Dan!
What they said. I have been fortunate to have seen him several times. He was fantastic, and I miss him.

Holy and humble...that about sums up Dan The Man. You are missed, good and gentle soul -- and one helluva singer and songwriter and guitar player.
