That's the kind of risk, China will never take. China always puts team for the first. Thus, people like He Ning, Xiao Sha and 3p didn't get into the 6.
Helly my friend Longdoydoy, I'm curious to ask you question - How long has a Lunar New Year vacation been in China? Is this vacation including celebration of the Ox year, Lantern Fesitval and Chinese Valentine's Day, right?
dutfil, in contemporary days, a Chinese is lucky to get a week off for Lunar New Year; well, I can't really speak for the Chinese in Mainland China.
However, the Lunar New Year had been celebrated throughout the full first month of the Lunar calendar for centuries; during the Ming Dynasty, if not even earlier on. Sorry, I need to research if requested to; as I'm no historian at this point.
The whole Lunar New Year falls into Part 1, 2, 3 and so forth;
First, you have the eve of Lunar New Year, the seniors of your family would set up a shrine to thank The God and your direct ancestors of your bloodline for all experiences you've had (good or bad). And you'd have the reunion dinner with all family members, along with the spirits of all your ancestors present (kind of spooky, huh?)
Then, you have the first day of Lunar New Year; where the juniors greet the seniors of the family with wishes of good health and prosperity.
Best thing is that, the juniors get "red packets" with cash in them!
Then, at the 9th day of Lunar New Year, it's the "9 incense for God and your bloodline". (was it the 9th day? if someone remembers better, please correct me) This ritual usually takes all night, as 9 turns of the incense is many, many hours (my mom sleeps at 3 to 4am after this ritual).
Then, on the 15th day of Lunar New Year, you have the Spring Festival, or, the Lantern Festival as the (on to #4)
modern times would like to call it; and in the recent decades, it's been referred to as the Chinese Valentines Day (I know, just far out).
And then, you would have the last day of Lunar New Year in the first month of the Lunar calendar; where, everybody lights up the ten foot firecrackers. For the rich people, they have the forty foot or more, firecrackers, which hangs from the fourth floor of their townhouses.
It was the celebration for the 15th day of Lunar New Year. Folks walk the gardens in the evening with families and friends to appreciate the lanterns and flowers; thus, the Lantern Festival.
Also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day, as couples cherish the moment in the gardens; and boys express their feelings toward their dream girls.
And old folks like me, just drink and eat, and play Chinese chess in the gardens :D
Deng Linlin and Yang Yilin are both coming back from injury. Deng is almost 100% now, but she probably couldn't take time away from training to rehearse for this. Yang Yilin's injury was more extensive and she's still limited to only light training.
I love the chinese WAG team, but this dance frankly is a little weird.

He Ning came as she was the 7th reserve for the Chinese team, and DLL and YYL were injured.
Did HKX sing the first part?

What is the reason behind the dance? What is the music about?
SSBull900 3 years ago
the music is Jasmine. An ancient Chinese folksong. Puccini uses a part of it in Turandot
tzhang2 3 years ago
the later part is Lift your veil - Jiang Yuyuan's FX music. There is no specific reason that they put the two together, I think
tzhang2 3 years ago
lol - love it - though a lot of Jiang Yuyuan moves are straight out of her floor routine :)
lizzle7654 3 years ago 3
i think its because they dont have the time to practice so yuyuan used her dance on her floor
chaoticstar16 3 years ago 3
Wow look at Jiang Yuyuan! She's so good at dancing!

Yeah, He Ning didn't compete in the olympics. I think she was a substitute. And where is Yang yilin??
higirl378 3 years ago
lol, Yuyuan & Kexin are just soooooo cute.
and great dancers.
This kind of dancing is more Yuyuan & Kexin's style, maybe that's the reason Fei, Shanshan, Ning, kinda played the background.
btw, i miss Yilin & Linlin
any updates on them, are they still injured?

i was looking for this =) he kexin is so pretty..no doubt she's in for showbiz after gymnastics.
the dance is cute and funny @ the same time very entertaining.(jiang yuyuan her smile can light up a room)
and of course my girl cheng fei cant leave her out..i love her..i like whatever she does..lol ^_^

cheng fei the best
i love her

Applepie, I agree with your opinion. CF and HN are not fitted to the movements at all. The dance of WAG team is not wonderful but okay.
I suggest you better to watch other video clip "Handkerchief Dance by Chinese gymnasts". Swaying butttocks of young little girls are cute and funny.
dutfil 3 years ago
The Movements doesn't really fit Cheng Fei and He Ning that much....
