Thank you very much all of you who rated and commented on my video, today in the 20th aniversary of the fall it's important for us to remember what it stands for, and not debate about one side of politics or the other. The Fall to me simbolises not only the collapse of a regime which had deeply affected the heart of a country but also it elucidates the power people can exert on their governments, if they unite.

Thank you for this awesome video! I traveled through Czechoslovakia, Poland, and East Germany the summer just before all the revolutions . . . I remember seeing the Solidarity posters in Poland and wondering what it was all about (I was 19 and relatively ignorant). I ended up moving to Czechoslovakia in the fall of 1991 . . . one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! Lived there for 4 1/2 years . . . my heart is still there . . .

I was born in West Gernany to a US Military family. I lived there again when I was 10 in a divided Germany. My father was stationed in West Germany when the wall came down. He has 2 pieces of the wall in his office at home. No one would have imagined we'd see the wall come down and now it's hard to imagine it was ever there. People everywhere cry out for freedom! It's universal! I'm so happy to see this anniversary come!

Well ex post history writing neglects a few details - it took in fact many, tens of thousands of deaths, for this to come true. East German military for decades shot everybody who tried to transgress the borders.

Also in the 1989 protests authorities at first were determined to strike them down violently, and police were ordered to shoot into the crowd. The sheer number - the unexpectedly high numbers - of protestors puzzled police, and led them to not act upon orders.
