I have listened to this over and over. And over. On several days! This is such a beautiful version of this song. It is so sad, yet soothing...and touches me deeply. I listened to other versions and enjoyed yours the most! You have a gift with this song! It is a special gift. I believe part of the reason I love it so much is the history behind the song, but your vocals and delivery also make it so beautiful. Thank you for posting! My best to you. Peace, brother!
I believed that I be the only one who can post a video where I got a freaks head, but you are too.
peace amigo and I hope that your road follow the good line of the border line of the wine line.and the feeling line.that's good song.I finish my glass with this song.
@francoisfeldman Thanks my friend. I follow your line. I do it my own way. Sorry you don't understand, but its about a sad letter from USA to Sweden. Written in the late 1950:ths.
Mange tusind tak for. Min familie kom fra Danmark i 1868. At Melodi kender. Det er den Amerikaner medlodi af "Little Sod Shanty" Der er mange af os i disse som skandinaviske. Skal jeg skrive De ved dette vaerneting? :-D
You are too kind, but it's not only a song, but also a piece of history.
Sorry, I sing in swedish, but as I say, many swedes emigrated to US and many wrote letters to relatives in their old country. Often sentimental ones, like this. Perhaps an immigrant to US wrote and sang like this !
Great song!!!! Thank you from an American (from Indiana no less!) with a Scandinavian background! (I don't need to understand every word to know it's a great song!)
Thanks lian. You understood some words and the lyrics is a kind of mixture of swedish and english words, so I'ts hard to understand. But the lyrics is about an emmigrant to US writing a longing letter to his old country Sweden. And his language is mixed up.
I adore hearing good music in a language I don't speak because the voice truly becomes an instrument then and it's pure feeling. This feeling... so filled with longing and I'm sure happy for the new life but missing the old familiar places and people. What a time in history that must have been. Thank you for this beautifully presented song... brilliant! xx
I like stuff like this. Simple and emotive. Even if like me you don't understand the language, you still find yourself carrried along by the sentiment. Good stuff Urban
Loved it, Urban. I would disagree, however, that this was a blues. To my ear it sounded more akin to country (folk) music, both rythmically and thematically. Storytelling is the basic theme of folk and country music, although this has been usurped by commercialism in today's America. Thank you for taking care of this heritage, I believe it is important documentation of history that must be kept alive. Your contribution is highly appreciated. 5 stars.
I listened to your beautiful performance while looking at the picture of my Swedish great-grandfather on the wall. He never went back to Finland (he was a Swedish-Finn), but listening to this song I imagine what he must have felt. My grandparents, however, did visit his hometown of Sideby, and while I have never been there, I feel a connection. Thank you,
Now you have posted a song which I don't understand one word of. Sounds great, and it is always nice to hear traditional songs from all over the world. Keep it up, and 5 *'s, Ami

Om din kompis Robin spelade in hela låten som ringsignal, så tar det ju 5 minuter. Men OK, jag fattar !

You don't need to play the American Blues, there are so much good Folk music, as well.
This one is Swedish and I try to do it in an american folk style.
I'm glad you appreciated my swedish/english in the song. *smile*
