Russia was becoming a very industrialized nation under Nicholas II. The railway network grew 57 % between 1898 and 1913. Also iron production grew by over 100% in those years. Industrial output grew at annual rate of 5 %. the only thing Lenin and his cronies did was impose a grossly inefficient economic system on Russia and kill millions of Russian civilians. If it weren't for the Commies funded by Wall St bankers Russia would be a very different place.
Ted Martin, thank you for sharing this and other videos of Tsar Nicholas and his family. A very salient fact is evident from these pictures: Nicholas had a close family and he enjoyed them and they enjoyed each other, a real family. Compared to Edward VII or George V of Britain, or Wilhelm of GErmany, or Franz Josef of Austria, they are rarely in photos with their royal children. It may be that Nicholas' family was more important to him than his country, so be it - only they became Saints.
@TheRedandwhiteroses What bad mistakes and foolish decisions did Nicholas make? King George V of England blocked the safe passage of Nicholas and his family to Britain, after is was democratically approved by the British parliament. So, what sort of ally was George V really? I would say George was morally responsible for there deaths. Which country now looks foolish would you say? The Tzars were oppressive, but not Nicholas, and that, and much more, was what set him apart from his ancestors.
@cholmain But George V and Nicholas were first cousins and they looked more like twins. It sounds like a domestic dispute with the British branch of the family setting up the Jews to kill the Russian branch. They sponsored Lenin, Marx, Trotsky and the Bolsheviks so what did they expect?
@guydecervens Close, Russia had the fastest growing economy in the world, it exported more oil, that all countries. No one could ignore it, least of all Germany, as their economy was set to pass out the US. It was Russia, ultimately, saved Paris, when the French begged Nicholas to attack, no such gesture was returned, Nicholas thought George as a good friend. Germany focused on having Nicholas removed by spending huge sums on propaganda against him, it's still being quoted here, if you read down
LOL funny how you talk about how Lenin goes to heaven. We all know that Lenin and Stalin were massmurderers. A estimated 25 million died under these horrific clowns. This number is more than the total jews, and other casulties of the 1st and 2nd world war together. So before you talk of who goes to heaven, have your facts straight, since apparently you don't in the case of the Romanovs. Some countries in the world had dictators and with change because worse. See with Iraq and Afganistan
Anyone who does not understand what kind of people these imperial russians were need to just look at Rasputin's murder or WW1. Kaiser Wilhelm was the Tsar's cousin. What kind of a man goes against his own flesh and blood. Ironic part is that some of the member of the Romanov and Hohenzollern family married each other after the war. Not that I don't respect Kaiser Wilhelm because if not for him these evil decendants of Peter I would still be in power.
Why will I read the Communist Manifesto? when all you got to do is see how the countries that lives under this system failed and suffers. Besides I lived in one that still have Communism and it DOES NOT WORK, it may sound pretty on paper or in a speech, BUT people rather live in a country with a democracy, laws and no goverment telling people how to live your life. Also we have freedom, Freedom is the key here, no goverment is perfect but communism does not work at all.
Communism is supposed to be anti-religion. But what religion? Is this how the Pope took over Russia? Was it designed to get rid of Eastern Orthodox and keep Roman Catholic? philipnute com
He was a russian imperialist and a pan-slavist pig to the core. He claimed to love his little russian toy soldiers but even treated them like trash. Kolchak, Denikin, Wrangel and all the other clowns who served this monster. Good ridance. World is better of without such a man.
hey you should not live in US where you have freedom of speech and all that you should live under this kind of govermnet who destroys their own contry, you are just an envious son of a bith. and a sympathizers of killing kids and innocent people..... why dont you DIEEEE better
@sisixxx oh so you suddenly know everything about me now? I suddenly like killing kids and innocent people. That's profiling. so you can go DIEEEE better
@nativepoint14 you write the words I response,.... I hope that about all this comments back and forward it is learned that COMMUNIST goverment ONLY DESTROYS and KILLS PEOPLE. I come from one of those countries,I will not say which one. But trust me when I said ITS THE WORSE. bye...
@sisixxx You lived in a totalitarian country, have you even read the Communist Manifesto? some countries may have attempted it but no they fell short. The proletariat was supposed to stand together and help each other to achieve the workers paradise but instead let dictators take over and rule under a facade communism.
I might burn slowly in hell with rest of the Reds but at least you will be joining us. Assuming that God exists you seriously believe he is going to let these imperial people into heaven. hahhaha. Kolchak and the cossacks getting in to heaven because they lived like Jesus while here on earth? hahhaa oh please. Yet alone the evil Romanov family who dug its own grave by treating "fellow human beings" like trash. Mr.Uyanov has a better chance getting into heaven than these clowns.
@kira4769 lol...if your son the only heir to your thrown had a disorder were he would bleed at the slightest fall, your wife was getting screwed by a mad monk, and your own military wanted to over throw you...yours probaly would too!!!....
what kind of history are you reading. ? dont you know that the Romanov family was murder because of the Communist PArty and under the orders of Yurovsky a Bushevitz nasty son of a bith a murder who cause starvation for the people of Russia for years with this goverment and for your information the Romanov family was a desent family and love their children can you see stupid by the pictures and the real documentaries. how can you justify the killing of innocent children!!!!
@sisixxx you feeble minded fool..you know nothing about Russian history...Russians hated "Nicholas the bloody"..he was no "peter the Great or catherine the Great"by any means...he ran the country down..he was the last czar!!...there are rumors of his wife and rasputin having an affair, his son was hemophilia, and i never said how they were murdered dumdass!!...nothing about killing was ever mentioned by me... you need to do more reading dummy...educate yourself...
@TheBsheep you need to ger your facts strait YOUR HATE toward this people without no even kowing history GO BACK to school, and by the way the people that kills this family put Russia under the worse at ever. AND wat is your problem with a sick kid?? that have hemophilia as if that was a sin or something bad, you hearthless piss of crap, I hope you never had to go through having a sick child and the rumors of the queen comes from the communist themselves I can see where you come from.....
Yeah because you russians were never truly communist. If he had won the war you would still worship him but like the low lifes that you are you forsake him in the time of crisis and hand him over to Lenin. Germans would have never done this to Kaiser Wilhelm. Shows a different between two nations and former rivals.
If only God had let this man know of the future uprising by Jewish Bolshevik murderers, then he would have kicked all the kikes out of his country. The Jews murdered 60 million innocent Russian Christians. It is our duty to seek vengeance for our fallen white gentile brothers...
Any improvement that occurred under Nicholas happened because of Witte, not because of Tsardom. Nicholas was a bumbling moron who wept at the death of his dog, but not at the deaths of millions of his own countrymen. He was simultaneously a tyrant and a fool. The Romanovs had oppressed the peasantry for centuries until the Revolution. You can't keep people repressed forever.
I'm not saying Stalin and the Gulags were any better, but Lenin and Trotsky were heroes.
Then why did the economy continue to grow after Witte had left office ? Some of it's greatest growth was between 1907-1913, after Witte had left office. So hence another one of your theories that doesn't quite stand up. What I find amusing is how you aimlessly rant on about how " oppressive" Nicholas II was, without providing any evidence I should mention. Yet, you proclaim Lenin and Trotsky heroes. Those men where psychopathic mass murderers and you glorify them ?
Your video displays ridiculously difficult to read content; your introductory speech should expound earlier upon the reasons for your breakthrough news.
That said, it appears, too, that you, Stanford's Professor Knight et al may well have missed the mark entirely -- which, paradoxically, might, surprisingly, prove a boon for resurrection of eg. Anna Anderson's claim -- mainly ... CHIMERA; covering eg.Grand Duchess Elizabeth or Alexandra having more than two DNA profiles between em: Get it!
Notice, too, none of the current rage = phoney BEAUTIFICATION ... doctrinaire pusher vids dare mention ... anything about the BEHIND THE SCENES realities, for which Nicolas was all too aware ... aka the NWO crew ... : so ... any expectable mention of the machinations aka 20M in bouillon assiduously allocated for the super-strategy hatched by dear Jacob Schiff: now there is an inkling: this VID rates yet another spooky-loopy fairy-spin on reality ... for sheepeople.
DURING communism after 1917 and raise of Stalin's Kolhoz theory of work together and divide what we make , communists in Yugoslavia saw that theory can not work.
IF CZAR stayed in power Russia today would be CENTER of the World. Russian RUBLE was accepted in whole Europe as GOLD.
No need to return to Monarchy. Just declare Putin as dictator for life. When is too old again return to democracy. When another great man like Putin comes along declare him as dictator for life. Monarchy can produce great men like Peter the great but it can also produce rascals like Nicholas II. Nicholas II was the very incarnation of evil. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing. He looked soft and gentle but was a very evil man.
Of course you consider Peter I as a great man since he used slave labour to build Saint Pete. That what excites you and turns you on doesn't it animal. But guess what. You can send your little cossacks or NKVD guards to come and get me but this time I will be prepared unlike my ancestors were. Only trip I make to Saint Pete is to seduce your women and impregnate them. No more free slave labour for you ruski boy.
* I mean other than not go into the war in the first place. that was the Tsar's mistake, but after that, it was merely a government trying to make the best out of a bad situation.
One must also remember that it was Kerensky who imprisoned this guy. Not Lenin. Ulyanov offered these people to England and everybody but nobody took them. Basically situation pushed Lenin to give the brutal execution order.
Yes sir. There were alot of backstabbing and betraying done in those these. Evil times for the entire humanity. If Kerensky would have allowed Tsar to leave to America than things might have turned out differently. Not the only dumb move Kerensky made.
Yes. Perhaps there was some revenge aspect but still. Ulyanov planned a fair trial for the Tsar. They only executed these people because they feared Whites might liberate them. Not because Mr.Lenin was somekind of a brutal monster. They let the Tsar live for almost a year when they took power in October 1917. This is the best proof they did not execute the Tsar because they enjoyed it.
the last imperial family of china was well treated by the kindness china revolutionist, the family members enjoyed their life until God called them away; the last imperial family of Russia was murdered by bullet fired by the cruelty Russia revolutionist.
you can see the difference. Romanov should have regretted that they had no such a luck to meet china civilized kindness revolutionist.
My great-grandfather was a Pole but he was also a Officer in Russia army. After Russo-Japanese war he was personally decorated by Tsar Nicholas II for bravery shown in the battlefields and Tzar give for him a lot of lands near Lida town. I have still this papiers in my home and this gift is invaluable for my family even if we now live on other lands.Red scums destroy Russia soul and culture but in 1920 my grandfather and other Polish people beat this REDS PLAGUE. Greets for all "whites" Russians.
How can the "intelligentsia" be intelligent?? They killed the Tzar, then killed 60 million people and bankrupted the country. Doesn't sound intelligent to me. Sounds like they needed to be called "arrogantsia".
They were smart enough not to support a war against Germany in 1914. Some of these socialist scumbags did indeed bite the hand that fed them but important thing is that Kaiser Wilhelm owned Russia in the Eastern Front. Nothing else matters.
@BENNYSIEGEL90 "They were smart enough not to support a war against Germany in 1914."- I believe the Union of Liberation, Union of Union and pretty much most russians didnt support the war. I don't think the socialist "intelligentsia" can actually claim they were more intelligent than the local farmer peseant or factory workers on the war proceedings. After all, arming 2 men with only one rifle was pretty stupid for any person, so intellectuals dont deserve the title or degree.
@SuperFifthwheel Arming two men with one rifle when the only other option was none, might not have been so stupid when you're trying to keep people alive
I like this, what rich history. everybody looks for an opportunity to over throw the government. Its called greed and power. Unfourtanetly he left to many opening and opportunities for them to do it.
Hahaha what a TRAITOR! The Soviets were saints not this traitor! A boss in the heavens is a great excuse for a boss in earth! Power to the people, not to greedy kings & tsars!
Nicholas II looked gentle but was very cruel. To quote Trotsky: At the very dawn of his reign Nicholas praised the Phanagoritsy regiment as “fine fellows” for shooting down workers. He always “read with satisfaction” how they flogged with whips the bob-haired girl-students, or cracked the heads of defenceless people during Jewish pogroms. This crowned black sheep gravitated with all his soul to the very dregs of society, the Black Hundred hooligans.
@1mrnewman To say that Tsar Nicholas II was cruel base on quotes from Trotsky is like praising Hitler for being and animal lover. Lenin and Trotsky deliberately started a famine as a political weapon. They caused the massive famine of 1921-22, deliberately killing 2.5 million men, women and little children. Czar Nicholas loved his Russian people and never would have abdicated had he known Russia would be taken over by foreigners.
@r36125yt the Bolsheviks did not cause the famine. It was caused by civil war, agricultural practices from the dark ages and taxation of farmers from all factions of the civil war.
The Czar loved his people? He had men who would not go to the trenches shot, and he exploited the poor. He was a louse.
@mattybock "the Bolsheviks did not cause the famine"
Foreign aid was coming in from all over. Lenin intentionally formed a group called the "central commission for help for the hungry" who were very slow moving and horribly corrupt. 30 million were starving and they only helped 3 million and irregularly at that. If the Czar was such a "louse" as you say, wouldn't you find it interesting to know that religious icons of him are venerated in all the Russian Orthodox churches all over the world.
Religious icons of him are only present because he allowed the church to exploit the people just as much as he did. The church is a money-making institution.
@mattybock How do you exploit people who have nothing to exploit. People worship in church because of their faith and they give because they receive something back. Do not priests have to survive? Are not supplies for the church needed? The church exists for people not the other way around. The icon of Czar is in the church (and everywhere else you look in Russia) because he is loved for the truth about him a has been revealed to those who can see past atheist lies and propaganda.
@1mrnewman Trotsky and his Bolshevik pigs were thugs and crooks. They didn't want to change anything for the good of Russia - they just wanted power. Tsar Nicholas gave 5 million acres of crown land back to the peasants so they could have something of their own, he & his prime minister passed many liberal reforms, he even called for world peace w/ a dissarmanent of Europe. But the pigs still wanted their revolution so they murdered his entire family. Learn your history b/c you are way off base.
@grski88 perhaps it is you who should learn your history it was almost the whole of the Russian population who wanted the revolution and the only Czar who ever did anything for the people was Alexander Ii and would have given them a constitution had he not been killed
@truvianni The almost whole population ? That's an interesting claim ? Care to show a poll to prove it ? Also I will be most amused to hear your explanation on why such a large part of the population joined the MONARCHIST White Army ? While you are entitled to your own opinion, regardless of ahistorical they are, you have no rights to claim them as facts without evidence to back them up.
@ImperialRussianGuard I heard about a plebistate taking in Russia not so long ago in which people were asked if they wanted the monarchy to return and from what I heard most people said they did not even want them to return as constitutional monarchy and the way I am American but I have read a lot about Russian history, I live in Warsaw Poland and speak both Polish and Russian though my Russian is not as good as my Polish.
@truvianni According to most statistics, about a 1/4th of Russians toay support monarchial resotration. According to the poll, monarchism is most popular among younger Russians. Due to this fact, statistics show that support for monarchial restoration is growing. Monarchism has grown greatly since 1992. It will continue ot grow.
@ImperialRussianGuard maybe this true I do not despute and the poll I heard about was about 10 years ago though always taking in to consideration that polls can be manipulated and much depends on how the questions are asked and who is asked. Ultimately the results of polls is not what can be proven or disproven but then again in France during the time Napoleon's body was returned to France many also wanted a return to the days of his empire that is why his nephew came to power.
@ImperialRussianGuard A lot of people in those days of the revolution and civil war in Russia were forced to join one side or the other so this is hardly an idicator of which side they really supoorted yet this hardly matters now does it since the whites were beaten though I personally feel it was a case of choosing between two evils. By the way I am a writer and have written many articles on Russia if you google my name "Truvianni" you will see.
@grski88 Even though Nicholas II passed the duma, he came way stronger than before. Nothing could pass without his complete "yes" in it. Also, he only passed the Liberal reforms only to please the peasants and the Liberals, so he could only have to deal with the Bolsheviks.
He not only paid them generously from the state treasury, but loved to chat with them about their exploits, and would pardon them when they accidentally got mixed up in the murder of an opposition deputy. Witte, who stood at the head of the government during the putting down of the first revolution, has written in his memoirs: “When news of the useless cruel antics of the chiefs of those detachments reached the sovereign, they met with his approval, or in any case his defence.”
In answer to the demand of the governor-general of the Baltic States that he stop a certain lieutenant-captain, Richter, who was “executing on his own authority and without trial non-resistant persons,” the tzar wrote on the report: “Ah, what a fine fellow!” Such encouragements are innumerable. This “charmer,” without will, without aim, without imagination, was more awful than all the tyrants of ancient and modern history.
I want to be the lackey of king. I can do all for my king! Can I wipe your dirty ass, sire? Oh, thank you, thank you my kind king!!! Wipe your ass it is honor for me. As you are generous, I am so happy to do it
I don't understand much bout the murder of the Romanov family... but I think it was very terrifying... I mean just imagine when u and your family suddenly called out in the middle of the night, not knowing that u will be killed... o_o
@puffyamiyumi1215 Democracy in America is still relatively new when compared to Monarchy in a historical sense. I see a lot of problems growing in democratic countries as resources continue to diminish while the hunger for material satisfaction continues to grow. This will only separated the classes further and further and what makes it worse is that government corruption and incompetence is becoming more apparent.
my niece’s watch brought me here. earlier on, i was looking for something inside her closet when i’ve noticed her collection w/c included a swatch that oddly featured the elder romanovs (alex iii, nick ii, alexandra). it could have been lovelier if it were archduchesses and/or the cute czarevitch.
This was real russians not so called "russians" like Trotsky and other jews who took over russia in 1917. When after USSR fell in 1991 jews bought up all factories and anything of value left. Today russia is a poor country but before WW1 Russia was a superpower.
Actually in the Russian empire , it wasn't too difficult to rise ranks. For example the father of General Denikin was born a serf. He started as private in the army and retired as a major general. There are many similar stories who were born serfs and died aristocrats. The affection felt by their people to their monarch is extraordinary. Russian peasants referred to the tsar as "batushka"."Batushka" means father in Russian. Very few presidents have ever gotten affectionate nicknames by the people
Classism is more predominant in democracies. Political parties try to set the lower classes against their upper class counterparts. After all politicians often try to style themselves as stalwart defenders of the lower classes against the wealthier unpopular minority. The wealthy minority are often demonized during democratic elections. The same cannot be said about the monarchial point of view. In a monarchy, it is viewed that the nation is one big family, united by the pater familias(monarch).
I was given an icon of Tsar Nicholas II from a monk in the Greek Orthodox Church a few years back. I cant tell you how badly I felt when it disappeared. My namesake and a giant of a man, long live the memory of the royal family! They accuse the Romanov's of everything under the sun, blame Rasputin, etc., etc but look who are the martyrs vs who are the murderers!.
@puffyamiyumi1215 How are Romanovs darlings of the western media ? The media hates monarchy, regardless of what dynasty. So I don't see how they are in any way darlings of the western media ? Also exactly how is monarchy flawed ? It is far better form of government than any other alternative.
No matter what opinion you have anout the Tzar's rule. The Tzar probably had flaws and benefits for the country. But the murder of a man, his wife, and his children is tragic.
Looking at these beautifu candid family pictures one cannot forgett that in addition of being a power couple, they were human being as well capable of love. They were, like everyone else very very found and protective of their family. Unlike the dysfunctional queen of England and her creepy family. .
It sad that his cousins in England did "NOTHING" to help them while they were in captivity under the Bolchevics.
@princeofthegodseuphr Wow, you are one deluded dude. Nicholas was the most inept, stupid ruler Russia ever had. He alone caused the revolution that led to the communist takeover. His wife, the tsarina, and Rasputin influence him in so many destructive ways. Please read your history and see how he criminally brought old Russia down. When a leader causes so much misery in his country, should he be blamed?
@greenstboy It is you who is deluded. Nicholas II was arguably one of the most educated men of his time. I know that it is common for idiots to accuse the intelligent of stupidity , in an attempt to mask their own. Your attempt to insult Nicholas II is such an example. You are aware that under Nicholas II, Russia had the fastest growing economy in Europe, right ? You are aware that due to his education reforms, by 1913 3/4 of all Russian children were in school ?
@lottiesocks Their is one slight difference between Tsar Nicholas II and the others. In the year 2000 after many years of study the council of Bishops voted unanimously to recognize Tsar Nicholas II and his family as saints. This cannot come about without large support of the populace. Icon's of him and his family are venerated in all the Russian Orthodox Christian churches in Russia and the world. He will be commemorated in the Orthodox church every year until the end of time.
Stalin has been voted the 3rd Greatest Russian of all time, by a huge Russian poll. Ivan the Terrible is also greatly celebrated. His election to Sainthood is idiotic, but after decades and decades people forget about the crimes committed (they no longer have to live under such tyrants). In a few decades, Saddam Hussein will probably be a hero in Iraq.
@lottiesocks It's understandable that Russians would view Stalin this way as they were conditioned out of the need for survival. 25M + and their descendants, whom were executed by Stalin, could not vote in these polls. Only Nicholas is commemorated by the church as a Saint, not Ivan. Many Russians have lost their Orthodox perspective, due to the damage done to the church by the communists, hence their view on Ivan. Those who think they can replace God in society have some big shoes to fill.
@lottiesocks How was he incompetent ? Under him Russia was the fast growing economy in Europe. Under him Russia became greatly industrialized. Not to mention the quality of life also improved. That doesn't sound very incompetent ? Also exactly in what way was he similar to Saddam Hussein ? Provide proof that Nicholas II killed as many people as Saddam Hussein. Until then don't make such ridiculous statements.
Under him Russia went from being one of the great powers in the world, to a complete social, military and economic collapse. The population revolted against him numerous times. His fleet was crushed by Japan. Half his land army was annihilated at the Battle of Tanneberg. People starved while he was ordering Faberge eggs. The Bolsheviks were worse, but they wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been slightly competent. At least Saddam managed some military victories.
@lottiesocks Every country has it's poor, has wealthy leaders, has lost battles, and attracts propaganda. Russia was the last autocratic empire where the Tsar is anointed by the Russian Church and was responsible to act within it's teaching. This is just not acceptable in the world today. "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." John 15:19
@lottiesocks Between 1898 and 1913 Russia was the fastest growing economy in Europe with a 96.8% growth rate. Russia was rapidly catching up industrial wise. Between 1898 and 1913 the railway network grew 57%. Literacy and life expectancy rates were going. And this was not exclusive to the wealthy, the common people greatly benefited. By 1914 2/3 of all Russian children were in school. Examining these facts comes to the conclusion not that Russia was becoming weaker, but becoming stronger.
@ImperialRussianGuard, Stalin made Russia greatly industrialized, not Nicholas II. Both Nicholas and Stalin did kill many innocent people though, Stalin killing more because of his imperialist strategy that he combined with socialism, which I do not agree with. Vladimir Lenin was against Stalin being in power.
@FuckTheWorld623 No, Nicholas II did greatly industrialize Russia. That is why the railway network grew by 57% between 1898 and 1913. Also the production of pig iron increased by 100% in those years. Nicholas II essentially connected the Russian west and east. You claim Nicholas II killed many innocent people. Provide evidence to back that claim up.
@ImperialRussianGuard, Stalin made Russia into an industrial superpower. The Japanese-Russian war made the Tsar greatly unpopular among his people, and the Khodynka Tragedy and Bloody Sunday resulted in thousands of innocent deaths. Not to mention the anti-Jewish pogroms.
"Provide proof that Nicholas II killed as many people as Saddam Hussein. Until then don't make such ridiculous statements. " Who cares if Czar Nick killed less people than saddamr? Under Czar's regime, 6500 innocent people died and most russians were below the poverty lined. He was also a rampant anti-semite who forced the jews off russian land. FUCK DICTATORS OF ALL STRIPES! THEY've been more of a cancer for humanity than anything helpful.
@Pentazoid111 After Czar Nicholas voluntarily abdicated his throne, the anti-Christian Jews initiated the process that led to the murder of over 20 million Russians. Then later the anti-Arab Jews took over a whole country and displaced over 600,000 Palestinians. Seems to me there is a pattern here.
Voluntarily? He had no choice but to, he was under duress. How did jews initiate the process that led to the murder of over 20 million russians, when it was Stalin who initiated the killings?
@Pentazoid111 He abdicated because he thought that it was his Russian people that wanted him out. When he realize that it was Bolshevik's taking power he regretted his decision. Out of 556 important functionaries of the Bolshevik state 457 were Jewish and you can find them listed by name.
6,500 innocent people? Provide evidence to support this claim. Note that people who were part of radical left wing terrorist organizations are NOT considered innocent. Those are the only sort of people Nicholas II executed, even then there are many instances where he showed mercy even upon such foul creatures. Below the poverty line? Well statistics from that time show that living standards were growing quite quickly, so one perhaps define what you mean by poverty line ?
@ImperialRussianGuard Russia was the least industrial of all the nations in Europe upon entering World War I. So I wouldn't use the words "greatly industrialized." Quality of life did not improve, why do you think he was overthrown and killed? His people were dying from hunger. I don't agree he was like Saddam Hussein, he was just clueless as to how to govern so many people properly.
Under Nicholas II the railway network grew 57 %. The Industrial output grew at an annual rate of 5% a year between 1898 and 1913. The production of pig iron grew by 100%. Statistics indicate that under Nicholas I, industrialization grew considerably. The problem with your claim that there was mass starvation is that statistics disprove it. The agricultural output grew faster then the population grew, along with that mortality rates fell greatly. Why would that happen if people were starving ?
@ImperialRussianGuard yes he was very competent that is why he was such a good leader in the great war and Russia did so well in their war against Japan in 1905.
@ImperialRussianGuard It was not an attempt at sarcasm but I was letting you know of the facts. In the original stages of the Nazi attack Japan did not join them later it was the CCCP which joined the war against Japan that is why the pupet emperor of Manchuria was captured by the red army.
Provide me with a reliable statistic that shows that 1/2 of the Russian army died at Tannenburg. Somehow I feel that you are exaggerating. It is in interesting that you mention Japan considering that they had twice the casualties Russia did. By the time the Russians offered peace Japan was exhausted. With new troops arriving the Russians could have taken back Manchuria. However due to the situation at home stopped it. Also if the war continued the island of Sakhalin would be difficult to defend.
To understand Russia and who Tsar Nicholas ll was, it helps to understand Orthodox Christianity. Tsar Nicholas II and his family were very pious Christians in a country were Orthodox Christianity was the state religion. There are articles on the internet that give this perspective. In fact, there is indication that he was aware of his families fate years before it happened told to him by spiritual persons within the church that were aware of future fate of Russia.
The was extreme poverty, hunger and unemployment in Russia under this Czar. He was feared and held in awe by his people. Russia was a time bomb waiting to explode. Their son's secret illness, Rasputin's influence and the people's hatred and mistrust of their German Czarina, plus the politics at the time were all scheming against the Emperial family. When Rasputin came into the picture, the family was doomed.
@Handiman544 what??!! Not even a mention of the evil man Lenin who went to New York (twice) to get financial backing from his crony friends for the distruction of Russia??!!! The bulk of the trouble lay outside of the Tsar's family. Not from within!! When one has such powerful enemies outside of one's house, the matter of the issues from within the house become trivial.
I always felt sad about what happened to the Romanov children especially, but they were not the first to go so brutally, or the last. The writing was on the wall and it was only a matter of time before Russia needed a change. Terrible things happened, but at least now those difficult times are mostly in the past, though never entirely.

I may never understand what made any men decide they had to terrorize their country and murder this entire family. Nicholas and Alexandra made their mistakes but Lenin, Stalin, and their loyal Red Armies did a thousand times worse. My sympathies go to the Romanov children. Especially the children. How tragic.
I may never understand what made any men decide they had to terrorize their country and murder this entire family. Nicholas and Alexandra made their mistakes but Lenin, Stalin, and their loyal Red Armies did a thousand times worse.
@TheRedandwhiteroses You're seeing all this in hindsight, please put the Romanov dynasty into historical context.
85% of the population were starving, oppressed and dying when Nicholas stumbled his way to the East, got his ass handed to him by the Japanese and proceeded on into WW1 despite cries of revolution. His father and grandfather had oppressed the Russian population through their malice and through their stupidity, evident in Alexander III's brutal regime. These people were idiots.
@Kortexx611 85% of the population was starved? Show us some statistics to prove it. Not only did the agricultural output grow faster than the population but the life expectancy grew while mortality rates fell in the reign of Nicholas II. Why would mortality rates fall if so many people where dying from starvation? The rest of your statement is just plain idiotic rhetoric. What can you expect from someone who is simply parroting the propaganda that they were brainwashed with ?
@ImperialRussianGuard I'm British, so I have an entirely esoteric standpoint on the Russian Revolution, rather than seeing it through the emotionally clouded eyes of White Russians.
Neither of Russia's government in the late 19th century and the 20th century were fair or moral - but the Russian revolution had to happen, Russia was politically and socially backwards compared to the rest of Europe and wealth was disgustingly unjustly distributed.
Your claim that because you are British, you somehow have the clearest non biased outlook on the Russian Revolution is unconvincing to say the least. The British education system, or any western education system for that matter, is not known for nonpartisanship. I have taken a look at some of your countries "history textbooks", in particular in relation to Russian history. What I found was poorly written polemics, which have no right to pass themselves of as historical facts.
@ImperialRussianGuard As evident by the fact that the Revolution HAPPENED, the majority of the population did NOT like Tsardom. The nobility and peasantry felt cheated by Alexander II's 'emancipation', the workers were exploited and repressed and the military neglected, as evident by the Potemkin mutinies and Bloody Sunday. Add that to 3.3 million Russians dying in WW1 and a mad Siberian peasant controlling the country, and you had the right climate for revolution.
You claim that the very fact that the revolution happened is proof that the Tsardom failed. Let us begin with the fact that a majority of Russians did not support the revolution. Alexander Kerensky himself said that one loyal regiment would have been enough to put down the February Revolution. The only reason the February Revolution succeeded was because the only troops stationed in Petrograd were conscripted militiamen. Had there been one Imperial Guard regiment, it would have failed.
@ImperialRussianGuard Also, '85% of the population were starving peasants' is a statistic.
Mortality rates fell due to advancements in medicine across Europe and had nothing to do with Nicholas II; he didn't just magically make people live longer, you daft bastard.
By a statistic, I mean a actual numerical fact, not some nonsense you made up on the spot. You claim that the only reason mortality rates fell was because of European advances in medicine. For the sake of the argument we will assume you are right. That would mean two things. First that the common people were not as "oppressed" as you claim they were. After all that would mean they would have a good access to doctors. Second of all it would mean Russia was not as "backward" as you claim it is.
After all a country who is keeping up with latest advances in medicines in medicine can cannot be accused of lagging in that field. Late tsarist Russia produced many great sciencists such as Dimitri Mendeleev, P.N Lebedev, A.S. Popov, N.E Zhukovsky, K.E Tsiklovsky, and many others. So Russia cannot have been accused of being backwards from a scientific perspective. I suspect that the only reason you accuse the empire of being "backwards" is due to their skepticism towards democracy.
@ImperialRussianGuard As for agricultural output, peasants were still cultivating on family-distributed strips of land, an extremely inefficient farming method. Add this to food prices going up due to munitions manufacturing during WW1 (rouble production quadrupled, causing severe inflation) and yes, it turns out millions were starving to death.
Your argument has been picked apart by historical fact from an outside perspective. Do you have any facts on how Nicholas II was an effective leader?
I can't help but find it that you denounce Alexander III and Nicholas II as "brutal oppressors of the poor", yet it was under their reign that some the greatest improvements for the poor occurred. Under Alexander III the first laws to regulate working conditions were introduced, such as child labour laws and limiting workday hours. Alexander II also abolished the poll tax and lowered redemption payments. In 1882 he founded the Peasant Land Bank.
Nicholas II took a similar path. In 1912 an accident and sickness law was introduced, which provided workers with pay while they were off from work due to sickness or injury. By 1914 the working hours limit was ten hours a day, aside from the over forty holidays. Also under Nicholas II, education greatly expanded. By 1914 over 75 % of all Russian children were receiving an education. So please enough of these idiotic emotional outbursts of how the Romanovs were "exploiting" the common man.
What happened to the Romanovs happened to many, many families just like them. Russia had since the stone age been a barbarous outback filled with cavemen wearing clothes as civization approached, but cavemen still. Tsarism elevated them from animals to slaves, then from slaves to workers. The soviet union was a necessary step in the process of converting monsters to human beings. Now Russians are beginning to behave like human beings. But it's not over. Nor is the world so far ahead of them ...
@1emanres I think we are not able to juge the russian world before the CCCP time, even not because we are to fare now. But the question is why do we always consider the traditional world like a world of slavery and barbarism? I think it seams clear, we just don't know, and because we are thinking that we are very evoluted in our modern world, we also think that befor us, peolple were less intelligent! This is our greatest mistake, we despise what had be done earlier.(sorry for my broken english)
@1emanres the soviet union was a monster-state, ruled by one of the worst monsters of the past century, the subhuman paranoid Caucasian gangster Stalin.
Why did so many people cutting across religion, race etc. hate the Tsar so much? Because he himself was a hateful being. He was a racist and an anti-semite. Consider the words of Count Witte: "To the Japanese His Majesty was in the habit of referring as macacoes (monkeys), using this term even in official
documents. The English he called Jews. 'An Englishman,' he liked to repeat, 'is a zhid (Jew).' "
Shocking that a head of state could display so much racism and anti-semitism.
Le destin des Romanov est digne d'un drame qui dépasserait ce que quiconque a jamais écrit, tragique, religieux, et flamboyant. Et en plus, on pourrait enfin présenter le mal incarné : lénine et ses bolcheviks.

The Tzars were oppressive, but not Nicholas, and that, and much more, was what set him apart from his ancestors.
cholmain 2 months ago
@cholmain But George V and Nicholas were first cousins and they looked more like twins. It sounds like a domestic dispute with the British branch of the family setting up the Jews to kill the Russian branch. They sponsored Lenin, Marx, Trotsky and the Bolsheviks so what did they expect?
guydecervens 2 months ago

Kortexx611 4 months ago
Then why did the economy continue to grow after Witte had left office ? Some of it's greatest growth was between 1907-1913, after Witte had left office. So hence another one of your theories that doesn't quite stand up. What I find amusing is how you aimlessly rant on about how " oppressive" Nicholas II was, without providing any evidence I should mention. Yet, you proclaim Lenin and Trotsky heroes.

@BENNYSIEGEL90 "They were smart enough not to support a war against Germany in 1914."- I believe the Union of Liberation, Union of Union and pretty much most russians didnt support the war.
1mrnewman 7 months ago
@1mrnewman To say that Tsar Nicholas II was cruel base on quotes from Trotsky is like praising Hitler for being and animal lover. Lenin and Trotsky deliberately started a famine as a political weapon. They caused the massive famine of 1921-22, deliberately killing 2.5 million men, women and little children. Czar Nicholas loved his Russian people and never would have abdicated had he known Russia would be taken over by foreigners.
r36125yt 7 months ago 10
@r36125yt the Bolsheviks did not cause the famine. It was caused by civil war, agricultural practices from the dark ages and taxation of farmers from all factions of the civil war.
The Czar loved his people? He had men who would not go to the trenches shot, and he exploited the poor. He was a louse.
mattybock 3 months ago
@mattybock "the Bolsheviks did not cause the famine"
Foreign aid was coming in from all over. Lenin intentionally formed a group called the "central commission for help for the hungry" who were very slow moving and horribly corrupt. 30 million were starving and they only helped 3 million and irregularly at that. If the Czar was such a "louse" as you say, wouldn't you find it interesting to know that religious icons of him are venerated in all the Russian Orthodox churches all over the world.
r36125yt 3 months ago
@r36125yt
Religious icons of him are only present because he allowed the church to exploit the people just as much as he did. The church is a money-making institution.
mattybock 3 months ago
@mattybock How do you exploit people who have nothing to exploit. People worship in church because of their faith and they give because they receive something back. Do not priests have to survive? Are not supplies for the church needed? The church exists for people not the other way around. The icon of Czar is in the church (and everywhere else you look in Russia) because he is loved for the truth about him a has been revealed to those who can see past atheist lies and propaganda.
r36125yt 3 months ago 2
@1mrnewman Trotsky and his Bolshevik pigs were thugs and crooks. They didn't want to change anything for the good of Russia - they just wanted power. Tsar Nicholas gave 5 million acres of crown land back to the peasants so they could have something of their own, he & his prime minister passed many liberal reforms, he even called for world peace w/ a dissarmanent of Europe. But the pigs still wanted their revolution so they murdered his entire family. Learn your history b/c you are way off base.

ImperialRussianGuard 7 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard maybe this true I do not despute and the poll I heard about was about 10 years ago though always taking in to consideration that polls can be manipulated and much depends on how the questions are asked and who is asked. Ultimately the results of polls is not what can be proven or disproven but then again in France during the time Napoleon's body was returned to France many also wanted a return to the days of his empire that is why his nephew came to power.
truvianni 7 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard A lot of people in those days of the revolution and civil war in Russia were forced to join one side or the other so this is hardly an idicator of which side they really supoorted yet this hardly matters now does it since the whites were beaten though I personally feel it was a case of choosing between two evils. By the way I am a writer and have written many articles on Russia if you google my name "Truvianni" you will see.
truvianni 7 months ago
@grski88 Even though Nicholas II passed the duma, he came way stronger than before. Nothing could pass without his complete "yes" in it. Also, he only passed the Liberal reforms only to please the peasants and the Liberals, so he could only have to deal with the Bolsheviks.
Trotsky was an a-hole for sure though :P
iliveforcows 3 months ago
He not only paid them generously from the state treasury, but loved to chat with them about their exploits, and would pardon them when they accidentally got mixed up in the murder of an opposition deputy. Witte, who stood at the head of the government during the putting down of the first revolution, has written in his memoirs: “When news of the useless cruel antics of the chiefs of those detachments reached the sovereign, they met with his approval, or in any case his defence.”
1mrnewman 7 months ago
In answer to the demand of the governor-general of the Baltic States that he stop a certain lieutenant-captain, Richter, who was “executing on his own authority and without trial non-resistant persons,” the tzar wrote on the report: “Ah, what a fine fellow!” Such encouragements are innumerable. This “charmer,” without will, without aim, without imagination, was more awful than all the tyrants of ancient and modern history.

When a leader causes so much misery in his country, should he be blamed?
greenstboy 8 months ago
@greenstboy It is you who is deluded. Nicholas II was arguably one of the most educated men of his time. I know that it is common for idiots to accuse the intelligent of stupidity , in an attempt to mask their own. Your attempt to insult Nicholas II is such an example. You are aware that under Nicholas II, Russia had the fastest growing economy in Europe, right ? You are aware that due to his education reforms, by 1913 3/4 of all Russian children were in school ?

Tsar Nicholas II was just an incompetent tyrant. He's very similar to Saddam Hussein. (whereas Hitler and Stalin were more competent tyrants).
lottiesocks 9 months ago
@lottiesocks Their is one slight difference between Tsar Nicholas II and the others. In the year 2000 after many years of study the council of Bishops voted unanimously to recognize Tsar Nicholas II and his family as saints. This cannot come about without large support of the populace. Icon's of him and his family are venerated in all the Russian Orthodox Christian churches in Russia and the world. He will be commemorated in the Orthodox church every year until the end of time.
r36125yt 9 months ago 2
@r36125yt
In a few decades, Saddam Hussein will probably be a hero in Iraq.
lottiesocks 9 months ago

ImperialRussianGuard 9 months ago 27
@ImperialRussianGuard
At least Saddam managed some military victories.
lottiesocks 9 months ago

Vladimir Lenin was against Stalin being in power.
FuckTheWorld623 8 months ago
@FuckTheWorld623 No, Nicholas II did greatly industrialize Russia. That is why the railway network grew by 57% between 1898 and 1913. Also the production of pig iron increased by 100% in those years. Nicholas II essentially connected the Russian west and east. You claim Nicholas II killed many innocent people. Provide evidence to back that claim up.
ImperialRussianGuard 8 months ago

Pentazoid111 7 months ago
@Pentazoid111 After Czar Nicholas voluntarily abdicated his throne, the anti-Christian Jews initiated the process that led to the murder of over 20 million Russians. Then later the anti-Arab Jews took over a whole country and displaced over 600,000 Palestinians. Seems to me there is a pattern here.
r36125yt 7 months ago
Voluntarily? He had no choice but to, he was under duress. How did jews initiate the process that led to the murder of over 20 million russians, when it was Stalin who initiated the killings?
Pentazoid111 7 months ago
@Pentazoid111 He abdicated because he thought that it was his Russian people that wanted him out. When he realize that it was Bolshevik's taking power he regretted his decision. Out of 556 important functionaries of the Bolshevik state 457 were Jewish and you can find them listed by name.
r36125yt 7 months ago
6,500 innocent people? Provide evidence to support this claim. Note that people who were part of radical left wing terrorist organizations are NOT considered innocent. Those are the only sort of people Nicholas II executed, even then there are many instances where he showed mercy even upon such foul creatures. Below the poverty line? Well statistics from that time show that living standards were growing quite quickly, so one perhaps define what you mean by poverty line ?
ImperialRussianGuard 7 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard Russia was the least industrial of all the nations in Europe upon entering World War I. So I wouldn't use the words "greatly industrialized." Quality of life did not improve, why do you think he was overthrown and killed? His people were dying from hunger. I don't agree he was like Saddam Hussein, he was just clueless as to how to govern so many people properly.
mija2831 7 months ago
Under Nicholas II the railway network grew 57 %. The Industrial output grew at an annual rate of 5% a year between 1898 and 1913. The production of pig iron grew by 100%. Statistics indicate that under Nicholas I, industrialization grew considerably. The problem with your claim that there was mass starvation is that statistics disprove it. The agricultural output grew faster then the population grew, along with that mortality rates fell greatly. Why would that happen if people were starving ?

In fact, there is indication that he was aware of his families fate years before it happened told to him by spiritual persons within the church that were aware of future fate of Russia.
r36125yt 9 months ago
The was extreme poverty, hunger and unemployment in Russia under this Czar. He was feared and held in awe by his people. Russia was a time bomb waiting to explode. Their son's secret illness, Rasputin's influence and the people's hatred and mistrust of their German Czarina, plus the politics at the time were all scheming against the Emperial family. When Rasputin came into the picture, the family was doomed.
Handiman544 9 months ago
@Handiman544 what??!! Not even a mention of the evil man Lenin who went to New York (twice) to get financial backing from his crony friends for the distruction of Russia??!!! The bulk of the trouble lay outside of the Tsar's family. Not from within!! When one has such powerful enemies outside of one's house, the matter of the issues from within the house become trivial.

I always felt sad about what happened to the Romanov children especially, but they were not the first to go so brutally, or the last. TheRedandwhiteroses 9 months ago
Kortexx611 4 months ago
@Kortexx611 85% of the population was starved? Show us some statistics to prove it. Not only did the agricultural output grow faster than the population but the life expectancy grew while mortality rates fell in the reign of Nicholas II. Why would mortality rates fall if so many people where dying from starvation? The rest of your statement is just plain idiotic rhetoric. What can you expect from someone who is simply parroting the propaganda that they were brainwashed with ?
ImperialRussianGuard 4 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard I'm British, so I have an entirely esoteric standpoint on the Russian Revolution, rather than seeing it through the emotionally clouded eyes of White Russians.
Neither of Russia's government in the late 19th century and the 20th century were fair or moral - but the Russian revolution had to happen, Russia was politically and socially backwards compared to the rest of Europe and wealth was disgustingly unjustly distributed.
Kortexx611 4 months ago
Your claim that because you are British, you somehow have the clearest non biased outlook on the Russian Revolution is unconvincing to say the least. The British education system, or any western education system for that matter, is not known for nonpartisanship. I have taken a look at some of your countries "history textbooks", in particular in relation to Russian history. What I found was poorly written polemics, which have no right to pass themselves of as historical facts.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard As evident by the fact that the Revolution HAPPENED, the majority of the population did NOT like Tsardom. The nobility and peasantry felt cheated by Alexander II's 'emancipation', the workers were exploited and repressed and the military neglected, as evident by the Potemkin mutinies and Bloody Sunday. Add that to 3.3 million Russians dying in WW1 and a mad Siberian peasant controlling the country, and you had the right climate for revolution.
Kortexx611 4 months ago
You claim that the very fact that the revolution happened is proof that the Tsardom failed. Let us begin with the fact that a majority of Russians did not support the revolution. Alexander Kerensky himself said that one loyal regiment would have been enough to put down the February Revolution. The only reason the February Revolution succeeded was because the only troops stationed in Petrograd were conscripted militiamen. Had there been one Imperial Guard regiment, it would have failed.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard Also, '85% of the population were starving peasants' is a statistic.
Mortality rates fell due to advancements in medicine across Europe and had nothing to do with Nicholas II; he didn't just magically make people live longer, you daft bastard.
Kortexx611 4 months ago
By a statistic, I mean a actual numerical fact, not some nonsense you made up on the spot. You claim that the only reason mortality rates fell was because of European advances in medicine. For the sake of the argument we will assume you are right. That would mean two things. First that the common people were not as "oppressed" as you claim they were. After all that would mean they would have a good access to doctors. Second of all it would mean Russia was not as "backward" as you claim it is.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
After all a country who is keeping up with latest advances in medicines in medicine can cannot be accused of lagging in that field. Late tsarist Russia produced many great sciencists such as Dimitri Mendeleev, P.N Lebedev, A.S. Popov, N.E Zhukovsky, K.E Tsiklovsky, and many others. So Russia cannot have been accused of being backwards from a scientific perspective. I suspect that the only reason you accuse the empire of being "backwards" is due to their skepticism towards democracy.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard As for agricultural output, peasants were still cultivating on family-distributed strips of land, an extremely inefficient farming method. Add this to food prices going up due to munitions manufacturing during WW1 (rouble production quadrupled, causing severe inflation) and yes, it turns out millions were starving to death.
Your argument has been picked apart by historical fact from an outside perspective. Do you have any facts on how Nicholas II was an effective leader?
Kortexx611 4 months ago
I can't help but find it that you denounce Alexander III and Nicholas II as "brutal oppressors of the poor", yet it was under their reign that some the greatest improvements for the poor occurred. Under Alexander III the first laws to regulate working conditions were introduced, such as child labour laws and limiting workday hours. Alexander II also abolished the poll tax and lowered redemption payments. In 1882 he founded the Peasant Land Bank.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
Nicholas II took a similar path. In 1912 an accident and sickness law was introduced, which provided workers with pay while they were off from work due to sickness or injury. By 1914 the working hours limit was ten hours a day, aside from the over forty holidays. Also under Nicholas II, education greatly expanded. By 1914 over 75 % of all Russian children were receiving an education. So please enough of these idiotic emotional outbursts of how the Romanovs were "exploiting" the common man.
ImperialRussianGuard 3 months ago
@ImperialRussianGuard I see no evidence. Your claims could be just as much bullshit as you claim mine are.
