Of course Dan can make a C Melody a serious instrument! He isn't one of the highest paid studio musicians for nothing. When I think of C Melody, I think of Frankie Trumbauer, because that was one of the main instruments that he made his great music with. When I think of Dan, I think mostly of alto and soprano saxophones, the instruments that he gets called for the most and what he plays on his solo albums.

FOR THE SAX PLAYER: Your tone and technique need sortin out. Reeds: a rico jazz cut, 2-3. Mouthpiece: go into the nearest shop that does a range of 'em (2nd hand ones are just as good, if not better). Also, most importantly, GET A SLING!!! You may think it looks good without, but there is no point in this, it is idiocy to sacrifice playability and tonal quality on a small asthetic.

Sort yourself out a teacher, or tutor, whatever, cos u aint gonna get any better carryin on like that. Good Luck.
