@baldheadkid He dunked once, I think. I remember reading about how it was his first dunk attempt in years. After a back injury, he was advised not to dunk, so he had to lay the ball in instead whenever he was close to the rim.
C'mon LJ can't be one of the greatest of all-time, he only had 2 GREAT years before the infamous back injury that made him a regular good player! Don't get me wrong, I loved LJ as a player, at one point he was MY FAVORITE PLAYER, it hurts my heart to watch his highlights because of what he could have been, but you can't call him one of the all-time greats, you just can't. The same with Bill Walton, when he was healthy HE WAS THE BEST ALL-AROUND CENTER OF ALL-TIME, but only for three seasons.
@alcorderyjr Actually even, after the back injury he still had another 20 point season. You can choose to call him one of the all time greats, or not. But I think we can all agree that hes one of the most talented and exciting power forwards to ever play the game.....Not to mention that he created the GREATEST and most Famous play in the History of Madison Square Garden. Although his career was rather short....I still think he did enough to earn the title of LEGEND..do u disagree with that?
@alcorderyjr I guess wat I'm saying is. The Back Injury can NEVER take away the awesomeness that fans witnessed in his prime. At the end of the day.....Who cares who thinks hes an All-time Great and who doesnt? I've seen him play. Thats enough for me. I KNOW how good he was. The Back Injury can kiss my ass. 100% Healthy...LJ is one of the Most Talented Power Forwards to EVER play the game. Thats good enough for me. End of Discussion. No Questions Asked.
what do you mean could have been he was just as if not more of an impact player in charlotte and new york. He was right up there with MJ when it came to the best players in the roaring 90's not to mention the fact that he is mad cool and funny in real life we hung out for about 2 weeks out of the country.
you got a chance to hang out with him? wow...that's pretty cool... and you are right he was the next barkley if not more so...i didn't mean to offend you by saying that... i was just saying what most people would say about certain nba players about how they could've been greater others... he was sometimes looked as an underrated player... but that's great to hear about him being cool and funny in real life...
no it didn't offend me I was just saying but yeah he is mad cool and not stuck up like other celebrities we met up with in our trip to Egypt/Ghana we still keep in touch. P.S. he is incredibly funny but when we played basketball in Ghana he did dunk on me a few times which made me feel bad but I have been practicing and the next time I call him and we meet up I am going to get my revenge even if I can not win I can dunk now and I am going after him!!! lol
i wish players still yelled loud when they dunked...now they wanna do there little sissy trademark dunks like lebron does his ugly dunk... eddy curry does his little one-handed toss in dunk ...i like the old school players kemp lj and others who would yell when they dunked
yeah not many players do that nowadays in the league...i can remember when stoudemire was dunking and letting out little yells... if you dunk alot it can hurt your hand depending on how hard you dunk it...i can dunk a lil bit but i still gotta work on it cuz i'm only 5-10 but if you dunk it hard enough it can really hurt...
It's ashame despite his illness on the court, that people have forgotten about LJ. Mad props to adding this video. Future generations of b-ball fans need to be exposed to the talents that might be forgotten if it weren't for technology.
there's lots of players from the past that haven't won championships but still made a helluva impact in the league... reggie miller, patrick ewing, musgy bogues, and there are players today that are still playing but haven't won a ring but are still some of the best players of our time... jason kidd, iverson, grant hill, etc... and those are just 3 players that need 2 get a ring soon before they retire...
Larry "Grand Ma-Ma" Johnson and his 1989-91 UNLV Runnin' Rebels were one of the 25 Most Influential of The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America, 1984-Present the basketball and hip-hop culture fusion time-period of the past 23+ year's.
Amazing to see this vid vs his Knicks vids. The bad back took away all his explosion but he completely transformed his game and was still one of the top players in the game. Had it not been for the injury, this guy is hall of fame, easy.
Nice LJ tribute, Yeah I liked LJ too he was a beast in his prime and even after the bad back he was still pretty good he just wasn't a dunker anymore, but his post game never left him. He still had one of the better post up games in the League.
LJ was the best, best memory i had of him was the 4 pt play while he was on the knicks, during playoffs last few seconds had a 4pt play against the pacers.
Finally a good LJ mix with some good Hornets highlights. LJ was the shit, a massive power forward with a great shot. Very sad about his back, I bet he'd still be playing today if he was healthy.
blake griffin reminds me a lot like him.

'LJ'

the video quality is high it's just that YouTube compressed it.
As for the song, subjective if it's a likable song, but the chorus, I think, fit LJ well and it's a decent beat for dunk/synching.
