  • Sopa doesn't mean anything in dutch :(

  • i did make the phone call

  • just when i thought you couldn't be any more perfect...

  • We, the lawyers for Tuesday, request that you immediately remove your references to our client Tuesday! You did not get prior authorization to wish a Happy Tuesday! Under the articles of SOPA we are asking for restitution in the form of all of your booze and cheese!! Also, we have received a call from Wednesday and she is pretty pissed at you as well!

  • who gives a fck what "sopa" means in other languages. i think yall are overlooking the point here. if this act passes it will be the end of internet as we know it... im quite depressed. this will not help our economy at all.... :'(

  • sopa is how italians say soap

  • Sopa is soap if you switch the "a" and the "p"... in americanish

  • @buckykiki And SOPA means soup in Spanish. :p

  • You knew about this way before I ever heard of it

  • Sopa means nothing in French.

  • thhey censored the internet for a day....

  • I love you for doing this little bit. Shows that you care. Love from The Netherlands. Look me up next time you're out here!

  • @gbutiri BTW, The Netherlands still hasn't signed the ACTA...

  • SOPA means 'shut up' and PIPA means 'Blow Job' in Greek.

  • I was one of the 7 million to sign the petition.

  • the internet is for pron

  • You are a beautiful person... and your videos are amazing! Keep it up. -3

  • Not gonna lie, Pirate Bay is the shit

  • @LaMonAid funny how thepiratebay happens to be government owned and funded yet it's doing EXACTLY what SOPA is meant to stop.

  • @last1born313 holy shit...I had no idea!!! Hooray for rebels! Learn new things everyday

  • @TheMollyWhops well your fake its against the constitution for the government to do that.

  • COMMENT HAS BEEN REMOVED BY U.S GOVERNMENT

  • Just asking is there anyway to stop America sticking its flag in the internet and claiming it/ censoring it as they please if you're not american? I'm english and this censorship is going to effect me too and knowing my government, it won't be long until they're letting america censor our shit as well.

  • so wierd to see you sober. <3

  • I don't like making phone calls either. But my state reps have Twitter and websites. Irony full of win. Boo SOPA!

  • Sopa means soup in spanish.

  • Nice video tittle. Its almost my tube user name. almost.

  • Weds for 24 hours I'm offline from youtube and facebook for #SOPASTRIKE

  • Now you need an E-PARASITE soapbox. The Senate version is still going full steam ahead.

  • SOPA died. Hooray.

  • Random pointless fact: Sopa means Soup in Spanish, not Soap.

  • Ditto!

  • Cool Camera!!! Such a smart girl! I love ya!

  • I didnt listen to what u said at all, but....

  • Is this your house? Because I love it. WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE TWO RED CHAIRS??? I WANT!!

  • Crazy shit. I'm not a religious man, but I am going to pray...

    This can't be happening.

  • I love you, Ms. Hart. You're quirky, intelligent, well-read, drunk, politically-minded, and can't cook for shit. You'd fit right in with my friends.

  • I agree totally with u Hannah, they managed to pass a similar bill here in New Zealand. We told them to take a leap the first few times but they used emergency powers from an earthquake to past it through real quick before it could get opposition. An extra thing to keep an eye on is where the distribution of wealth made by piracy fines goes. You would think if they genuinely wanted to protect a group of ppl the government wouldn't want such a big cut. Kill the bill and maybe ours will die too

  • your beautiful.

  • And here I thought she was just a hilarious, lovable drunk. :) To be Honest I had never heard of this before (I really should pay more attention to politics) and all her wonderful links quickly taught me (generally) what it's all about. Annndd I'm with you Hannah!

  • Sopa, one of the many ways to make freedom less free

  • Here I thought you were just a very very funny, pretty face. X

  • Random pointless fact. Sopa means garbage in swedish.

  • @TheFahlstrom I find this fact to be entirely RELEVENT!

  • @TheFahlstrom and it means soup in spanish! and if it was then it would probably taste terrible!!

  • yes u r short and sweet i wanna marry u

  • @bertzchick224 Fair enough. Sorry for grouping you with big business! Nice to see that there's at least some bipartisan support for something...

  • IT'S TURTLENECK TUESDAY!!!!

  • This video simply confirms that the platonic love I feel for you is completely justified. You rock, always and forever.

  • First time I saw a video about this, I swear I thought it was a joke... Its friggen freaky how government even has the power too censor the internet. It reminds me of the episode of South Park about who owns the internet lmao... but dead ass.... this is bad >.<

  • Personal request "Harto"! Next time you are really drunk, and I expect you to be for the next MDK since you have not been drunk enough lately, try to say anonymity.

  • It's not a phone! It's like a series of tubes!! (I've heard it's also not like a dump truck.) :D

  • beg your owners for your natural rights, I'll pass.

  • 13 Republicans have apparently seen this video. I've called my rep three times (I know, not that much) this year as SOPA has slowly gathered strength. It's a shame that the millionaires and billionaires have so much clout with our government so they can put a nice name on such an insidious bill. Big government isn't the problem, big money in government is the problem people!

Also, m.d.k./ms. hannah hart is fantastic and amazing.

  • @2010sovereign I'm a republican and I agree SOPA is a bad thing..... don't you don'tchu >.<

  • if we censor the internet, we're no better than those DIRTY COMMIES!! i dont want to live in a dirty commie country.

  • Petitions: signed. Emails: sent. I don't think this bill has a chance, but we need to stop it while it's down.

  • @Charlottetheharlot84 Wow, you're just...I...don't even have words. - Dislike. She DOES often do videos that aren't MDK - this is her vlog, NOT MDK.. if you see 'vlog', don't watch.

  • @Charlottetheharlot84 Well, you're more a prick that she is a twat. Ass.

  • Video of you calling your representative, or it never happened.

    ...c'Mon, I just subscribed to you! :p

  • I seriously can not believe the number of people that do not understand what SOPA. I been laughing my ass off all night at the misinformation.

  • @alienx23 Did you know that a frog won't save itself from boiling water if you boil it very, very slowly? Not sure why i brought it up.

  • Teach me how to Hannah <3

  • SOOOO want to make out over some drink?

  • urrr soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute! I want to watch u eat a cookie harder!

  • First I merely adored you, now I respect you very much big time as well. Now please continue rocking faces.

  • Monday is "Call in Sick" day in protest of the SOPA. I think Tuesday is too...

  • It's a bigbig phone. With pictures.

  • FUCK THE ANTI PIRACY ACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I called. I'm one of those people who hates the telephone. I'm no stranger to writing letters to my representatives and senators, but this was too important and too timely to sit back and hide behind my keyboard. Make the call, people! It's not as scary as you think it will be. It's too important to pass up!

  • First off, I'm one of the baby boomers, spent 20 years in the military protecting Western freedom, am tech savvy, conservative, and believe if the freedom of the internet. I love the variety of opinions and information it represents. I certainly don't trust an appointed bureaucrat with power to hit the kill switch when they receive a complaint about a website. Even thought only US sites can be killed, the reduced revenue from blocked US webizens will affect sites world-wide. Kill this bill now!

  • @DrStormD

    you want your western freedom?

fine. the "stop online piracy act" is the "western freedom" way.

the freedom to make money anyway you can, as long as you have enough money in the first place.

don't prostest against the stop online piracy act, protest against those degenerated copyright laws who only hinder cultural advancement in the name of profit.

  • @DrStormD @DrStormD It's not just American websites than can be hit, unfortunately - since we control the root DNS servers, and many of the financial transaction backends, this bill can be used to censor foreign websites, as well! In fact, we do so already; DHS and ICE are doing this frequently, even without SOPA.

  • @DrStormD You know a bill is terrible when a conservative war vet and a young college bound liberal can agree. Kill the bill now! it will hinder the free flow of information across the web, and disables our basic rights. Also, thank you for your service!

  • I'll admit, I was hesitant to watch one of my favorite internet personalities giving an editorial perspective, especially when it involves politics and asking your viewers to vote like minded. You handled it well though and I liked what you had to say and how you said it. Keep up the good work. Now at the risk of sounding sexist, "Get back in the Drunk Kitchen!"

  • The fact that you would make this video sums up just about every reason why I want to marry you. That and you look like you would be fun to drink with.

  • "Born as I was the citizen of a free state and a member of its sovereign body, the very right to vote imposes on me the duty to instruct myself in public affairs, however little my voice may have in them. And whenever I reflect upon government, I am happy to find that my studies always give me fresh reasons for admiring that of my own country." -Jean-Jacques Rousseau

So excited to have written my first letter to my congressman.

  • Well....Time to torrent while I still can. brb, need Skyrim and CoD.

  • Thankfully I'm Canadian, so I'm basically unaffected by this, but I'd definitely be raising some hell of I was in the US.

The tool analogy is a good one: just because someone busts your car window with a crowbar, it doesn't mean you should ban all crowbars, right?

  • that was easy. lets hope he abides.

  • While I do not support this bill at all, I am concerned by the general lack of fact base included here. Really there is nothing about 'censorship' in the bill. The focus is on stopping the foreign piracy and counterfeit websites to preserve American jobs. The problems in the bill lie in the lack of due process before a website is prosecuted and the undue financial and legal hardship on law-abiding website owners and ISPs.

Please, do not support this bill, but please be educated as to why.

  • so...the internet is being seriously affected by those who are not sure what the internet is. fuck.

  • It all depends on what is censored. Given the general foolhardiness of the race it isn't always a bad thing.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been contacting my rep and senators. SOPA and Protect IP are both BS from an Orwellian hell!

  • i will call if you rub your bewbs

  • I've been sending emails to my reps both locally and in the Senate ever since this ridiculous nonsense started happening. I've just sent more. If this gets approved, it would just be...absolutely the worst thing. People who don't understand how the internet works shouldn't make laws about it.

  • Thank you for this! I, too, have emailed my representative :)

  • Thanks Hannah, Emailed! Thanks for the links. Posted it to Facebook also,

    Love ya!

  • What does "Piracy" have do even do with "Censorship"? See how government tries to confuse you with wording to confuse...THEY BE F*#KING SHIT UP!!!

  • Just emailed my rep as well Hannah. Keep fighting the good fight................and cooking drunk :)

  • Please dont cencor thee internet because i will cut a bitch

  • Drink a bottle of wine and ask us again. Please

  • HANNAH HART FOR PRESIDENT 2016 (too late to get in on 2012, yeah?)

  • @julesmb991 That and she is from Canada lol

  • e-mailed, thanks Hannah!

  • Former Senator Chris Dodd who now works for the MPAA actually even praised the bill for being modeled after China's internet censorship laws. That creep is un-American.

  • I emailed my representative! Thanks Harto for making it SO friggin EASY!! <3

  • its wednesday, but I ll take it :)

  • Shouldn't you be drunk?

  • how can i help? as a foreigner.

because when this thing passes, it will spread, cause governments are becoming more and more retarded (no offence to the disabled) each year, something needs to be done about this shit!

"oh no people found a way to be free within their own homes, lets stop them before they think they can make something of their lives"

  • IF SOPA PASS Wii need to have obama to veto the bill thats IF it even goes that far i hope Sopa is killed before the vote

  • it's really easy to make phone calls!! Just imagine you're Steve Jobs!! works charms for me ;)

  • I live in sweden, so in a way this would not affect me directly... But since most things I watch and read come from the us, this scares the shit out of me...! Please don't make this happen!

  • Harto, I love you as much as a straight guy can love a lesbian without internet porn being involved, but I have to disagree here. While I do understand that giving the FCC (or whoever wants to start this act) any kind of power to censor is a bad thing, censorship itself is not bad. ABUSE of censorship is. I have two young nephews that I don't want to be exposed to the weird things I like, and while I do my best to stop them, they will eventually figure it out themselves. That scares me.

  • @BobBX542 You, as a parent or uncle, should be allowed to raise your children as you see fit but how would you like it if the government stepped in and told you that you had to quit censoring what your nephews watched? Or, conversely, that you must censor everything they watch and if anything got through then you would have to go to jail for contributing to the corruption of a minor?

  • @usxinfinity I am a bit confused as to what you're asking, so I'll blanket it like this. If the Government stepped in to try and tell me how to raise my children/nephews, then I would be infuriated, but that's not my issue. My issue is that there is so much that is available to children, and so many ways to access it, I would like a little bit more care in how easily it can get to them.

  • @BobBX542 It's not actually going to be censoring things that should be censored, such as porn or other graphic content. The bill is so poorly written, that any time a company or an organization feels they're being infringed upon, they can have that ENTIRE website shut down, without proof or other action. This means places such as deviantART, YouTube, and ANY other sites that may include movies or fan art will be shut down, not just have the content taken away.

  • @HiddenHeartsCry Oh, that much I understand, which is why I said in my initial reply that the bad part is giving an inch, because they take a mile. And while I do support artists and creators not having their creations stolen, I think the act of trying to protect that from happening is comepletely futile. This whole issue seems like something that can never be right or wrong, but rather just something to get people talking and interacting. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  • @BobBX542 It seems futile until you give power to the online megacorps to indiscriminately start censoring and shutting down other websites. They could go so far as to shut down YouTube since there are so many "unauthorized" music and movie files on here. You wake up one morning only to find out that YouTube has been shut down by Columbia...now that would suck.

  • @usxinfinity This might be me just being a cynical prick, but honestly, it would only suck for as long as it took someone else to open a video sharing website. But like I said, just something to get the hive stirring.

  • living in Canada never stops feeling good

  • @ovariesandoranges We just pulled out of Kyoto, still feel good?

  • Thank you for sharing this information!

  • I emailed and called my representative. I got a response to the email basically saying that I didn't know what I was talking about and they were just trying to protect the media industries that lose money when someone downloads a movie, song, or television show illegally. My rep is old so he doesn't fully grasp how this will effect us, the technological generation. I think we need more younger, progressive representatives in Congress to balance out the old farts that are gung-ho on "tradition."

  • @theEmilyHaney unfortunately, the older, 'baby boomer' generation (who also doesn't understand the SOPA bill) are also those that are voting, so getting a younger rep into power, who may have the know-how to understand what this bill actually says, is nearly impossible (also would have had to have been done a long time ago) - I'm Canadian, so I don't have a rep to call, but I hope all of my american friends do. Love all your faces.

  • @theEmilyHaney As much as I want to agree with you, there's a lot of wisdom that comes with age, and, as much as I would like younger people with fresher perspectives to represent us, I'm not sure it's a good idea. If older folk who have been around the block a few times can't keep shit straight, what hope do we have for the younger, more naive, ones? ...just a thought...

  • @End3r00 I see where you're coming from and I agree that the older reps have value from their experience but they are also very out of touch with the younger generations and what legislation they need/would like to see. So many of them are also the puppets of corporations by way of lobbyists and campaign donations. It's sad that there's so much corruption in our nation's legislative body and I feel that maybe a few more younger reps that are less "tainted" could counterbalance that.

  • @End3r00 Younger people are more willing to try new things. After all, and not trying to endorse drugs per say, but these "old folks" are the same people wasting billions of dollars on imprisoning people for possession of marijuana instead of utilizing it be it through taxes not to mention the fact it can be used for things like clothes etc. After all, to me alcohol is far worse than marijuana.

  • the whole time i couldn't stop thinking about pirates

  • In so many ways! Hanna is it possible that you are an AWESOME singer-songwriter, and EPIC (drunk) cook AND care about things so much that you make a vlog about it!!! You talented girl you. :D And your short and sweet... :D :D :D

  • but think about it many years ago people said they would NEVER pay for TV and the radio! Now there is cableTV and sirious radio! And people pay for it! Do I think it is right....ummm NO! but if someone can get away with it, they will! Unfortunately it is America and if they can make $ they are gonna do it! I do love your drunken kitchen and hope they don't find a way to keep you from us! Keep it going!!! Thanks!

  • I totally agree Hannah! Check out some of the videos from the 80s of Frank Zappa and his feelings on censorship of music...the same stuff. Scary. If you just search Frank Zappa, you should find them.

  • uhm youre adorable.

  • I've done my part and contacted my representative. Thank you MyHarto for urging me on and providing the links which made it so easy to do so.

  • I would do something against it, but I'm just a youtube comment.

  • Is this in some way connected to Net neutrality, or is it an entirely new form of infringement? To put it in simpler terms, are they trying to censor certain things completely, or force people into paying for content? (Net Neutrality is more based upon providers trying to privatize the net and force people into paying for content.)

  • @Colechamdiceman No, SOPA is actually different from the Net Neutrality issue, but is actually far more insidious. What SOPA could do, it state that say, YouTube violates piracy laws, and will restrict ALL AMERICANS from visiting it. Watch the video under the description Hannah listed to understand more.

  • @GrimSolitude Thanks for the info, I shall indeed view the vid. I suppose they are pushing it through by saying "we're only going to restrict people from visiting sites linked to terrorism..." Or some other buzzword. Once it goes through it will be a simple matter for them to take liberties and block anything that doesn't fit some conservatives view of what is "safe". At least we have a semi-tech savvy president at the moment, who may actually get the issue we are facing.

  • @Colechamdiceman You're quite welcome, and you're right. It will be flown about as being the giant, all American way to put a red flag stop to evil music & movie pirates, then just attempt to be snowballed from there. Thing is, not just Obama, there are enough of us who are activists, for Net Neutrality, the SOPA issue, etc. to let it just get snuck by us!

  • You forgot to mention Great Britain Australia and Germany in the censor list ;)

Anyway, I already signed the online petition, even though I am from Germany

  • Very well said Harto. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up

  • People will never support it. That plan is going to be plunged down the toilet as fast as a baby's breakfast after laxatives. :P

  • greedy greedy America.

  • Register none .com address (Sweden would be a good place to aim). Route American providers packets in circles. Move hosting to place like Sweden. Route around SOPA damage largely completed. Of course America will be in an information dark age but that's your problem not mine.

  • The National Defense Authorization Act is far worse. No video about that one for another month Iguess.

  • I am in love with you!

  • i've been seeing that commercial and seriously didn't even think of it as a big deal because it feels like such a joke to me. Americans live on the internet.

  • Hey! You don't have to call. EVERYONE can EMAIL them! Go to the link Harto mentions at the end and click EMAIL. :0)

  • Someday, you'll want to say something, but all that's going to come out of your mouth is "censored"

  • they passed something like that in my country (new zealand) at the start of september... *sigh* I guess the governments got bored and thought this would be a way to make their lives a bit more interesting

  • @HippyAndMe I feel your pain mate. I'm from N.Z. too and I find it a bit unnerving that there isn't a list of blacklisted websites for the public to view, it's not until you get a knock at the door that you realise it's too late. And I sure as hell am not comfortable with the government picking and choosing what I can and can not read on the Internet. It's ridiculous.
