Some Christians here are quoting: "You shall have no other gods, before me." This comes from The Law. New Testament: "God is love. Who remain in love, remain in God, and God remains in them." And in my opinion it is therefore: Love is God.
That means as long as we believe in Love, we believe in God, no matter what we call him. Or her.
So to all the other christians: Stop criticizing other religions. But other religions: Stop criticizing us. Just enjoy the beautiful chant :)
Thank you for this beautiful devotional! It takes real courage to stand up to intolerance as gracefully as you all. That strength is a miracle of Durga, for certain.
deuteronomy in fact wasnt written by moses, but by kohens many centuries later and passed off as a "lost scroll" of moses. the original torah was likewise altered to make ppl turn away from the Divine Mother, who is /still/ loved and revered by jewish ppl to this day. She's the same as Ishtar who looks /identical/ to Durga. christians should not cast stones as Shes the same as their holy spirit. JAI MATA DI!!
We are not separate. It will be our collective experiences that our future histories shall rest upon for support and guidance. Leaving one group (Hindus) alone or another will only provide us with more reasons to war against each other. We are now living in the time:2011/space:Earth where these conflicts are reaching their poignant heights. One God, Many, None or Every we are part of each other; a member with animals and plants living on a burning rock in the universe.
Durga Devi the Primordial eternal energy of Bhagavan. She is all will and creates, maintains and destroys entire creation by Her mere will. She is worshipable by trillions of Brahmas,Visnus and Mahesvaras for She is the Sakti of Sri Govinda, equal to Him in all respects. The form of Sri Durga is the form of supreme bliss and the formless Brahm is situated in Her. Thus, She is far beyond the very concept of God,be it in any abrahamic traditions.

Durga is the Great Mother & it is not wise to disrespect the Great Mother, what ever aspect of Her one worships.
IMHO, The Great Ones do not care what one calls them, just that *all* aspects of them are respected as manifestations of the Divinity that is greater than ourselves.
What do you people think - don't you think the amazing diversity in our beliefs, lifestyles, cultures, etc. make the world a more wondrous & interesting place to live, love, worship and share the human experience?
One of the 108 names given to the Mother is "kumari: or the Virgin in the Durga Ashtotarnama. Hindus worship young girls (under 9 yrs) on the 10th Dashami day as "Kanjak puja" to hour that aspect of the mother. Jesus was born to a Virgin and she accepts your prayers as Mother Mary at Lourdes etc. Broaden your vision, divinity is the same her forms are many.
I'm sick and tired of finding comments here written by Christian fundies criticizing other religions. Instead of always quoting that corrupt, contradictory and limited little book of yours written by manipulative patriarchs, why don't you directly ask Krishna if He's the same God as Jesus? You coward hypocrites hide in that book of yours, because you wouldn't even dear to meet the real God even in your dreams. Your intolerance shows your insecurity. Just shut up and leave Hindus alone.
All anger emanates from attachments and delusions. Reailty is Cosmic. The Cosmic Mind is the True Self. One in a state of realization would treat everything with perfect equanimity. Take it easy take it as it comes. How would Krishna take it? How would Ram take it? And how would Jesus take it? They are all different embodiments of the Supernatural Self as much as we are if we achieve Moksha. Time relevance does not make one above and one below. These are all perceptive delusions.

Whether it's Jehovah Almighty with the skin like that of burnt copper and hair like that of wool (this description is in the Holy Bible), or Maa Durga with 10 arms, WE AS HUMAN BEINGS have arrogantly created God/dess in OUR image! Such is the arrogance of finite minds like us, who live under the mercy of the Almighty, whatever you want to call Him or Her.
@vaan1236 For ur information, the so called "LADY WITH 10 ARMS" menifests as Virgin Mary, Jesus's Mother. U wanna proof? Holy Mother is also called Kaumari.
