@flimflamracin Yeah, Buck always maintained that he had earned and won that trophy. Buck would even bring it to the track to taunt Wendell. It was only the threat of a lawsuit against the Baker family in early 2010 that led Buddy, with the help of NASCAR and ESPN, to give the trophy to the Scott family.
@flimflamracin Well, it depends on how you look at it. Just because of how Buck treated Wendell and his family shouldn't change anything. Buck was a champion, and that will never change.
When you watch Lewis Hamilton, Bubba Stewart, Antron Brown or Harold Martin remember this man. He layed the foundation for them.GREAT VIDEO, GREAT TRIBUTE TO A UNSUNG HERO.
@andersport Thanks, and Wendell didn't only lay the foundation for the drivers you listed, but he also inspired many others, including myself, although I only drive modifieds, legends, banderlaros, and go-karts. I'm a minority driver, I'm not black, but I am Jewish, and as far as I know, I'm the only one that races
He finally got the trophy and the family took the trophy to the grave. I wish that girl that Buddy Baker kissed would kiss Wendell's grave too if she is still living.
@Ariamaluum I know...I updated the video in the description when I 1st heard that Buddy Baker had presented the trophy that Wendell had earned, and that his father, Buck Baker was given to the Scott family.
"Nascar HoF without Wendell is like Cooperstown without Jackie." He may not have the stats to show it but all things considerd Wendell Scott was one of if not the Greatest of all time. It sickens me that Wendell saved most of his cars and later sold them for very little in the late 80's, like the clip said none were restored as his. How sad is that?!!

@sneeldson The NASCAR HoF has a door that was on one of Wendell's cars. I believe that they also have a copy of the protest that Wendell made. And I was talking to one of the people who helped me gather the information for this video, and he's attempting to restore Wendell's car from Talladega along with the transporter that Wendell used. But it's going to be a long restoration.
@bradk12fan I want nothing more to restore a car driven by Wendall. I see the latest has already been taken. I want the crown jewel of his career. The Chevrolet he drove to victory December 1, 1963 at Jacksonville, FL. It has long been time to reconize Wendall Scott on the track. My only wish after completion of the restoration is it will be shown at a few Sprint Cup events, maybe drove around a few tracks he raced at, and maybe, fingers crossed parked in the Hall of Fame. A true pioneer.
@davidmorris67 I would love to be able to see Wendell's car restored, especially the one that defined his career. I think it would be welcomed into the HoF with open arms by many. I think, if I remember correctly, the car he was driving that weekend was a car that was, ironically, once owned by Buck Baker.
@bradk12fan I would have never guessed Buck Baker once owning that car. Ironic to say the least. After this weather breaks here in VA I am going to make a trip to Danville to see what I can dig up. I am hoping I can make contact with his son Franklin sometime over the next month or so before I make the trip.
About 5 years ago their was a website where this dude actually bought 1 race car and his work truck from his home yard...I emailed him but got no reply.

This is the best Wendell Scott tribute I have seen here on youtube. Thank you for a great tribute. Nascar really needs to recognize him and his accomplishments better.
Don't thank me, thank people like Wendell Scott, without him not only would NASCAR be what it is today, but he was also a World War II veteran. All I did was pay tribute. RIP Wendell
Well said, I have a deck of basball cards with pictures of Wendell and a description of his accomplisments on the back of them and a diecast car. Have you read the book, Hard Driving: The Wendell Scott Story?
Its a great book. Yes, Racing Collectables has a 1:64 Scale Fairlane. You may be able to find it on their website. And Racing Champions made a 1:64 Scale Torino. They are very hard to find.
wow awsome song that blends well to this tribute for the great wendell scott
