Wow! Haven't heard this for decades. Columbia Records issued two albums to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Civil War. Each record came w/ a book full of photos and drawings and articles by writers like Bruce Catton. In those days an LP record cost $5. These sold for $10 because of the attached book. About 30 years later a record dealer was looking for copies of the recordings for a client. I sold him my spare copies for $100 and he sold them to a dr. for $200. Great music!
The composer and arranger of the orchestral suite, "The Union", was Richard Bales, a conductor associated with the Library of Congress.
