Don't vote Liberal or Conservative in the fall, support the NDP or a smaller party. Whatever the two parties say they BOTH SUPPORT THE HST. The Conservatives will not go on record saying they will reverse it but Hudak has "attacked" the HST for purely political reasons. The Liberals of course won't change anything.

usually I don't put much faith in the electoral process these days but come next federal & provincial ( BC in my case) the currant GOP are going way down. People need to remember that the Federal govt is pushing HST onto the provinces. Stephen Harper & the Conservatives are just as bad as the BC Liberals.

I want to vote a third party as well. But I'm hard pressed to find

a Ron Paul equivalent in Canada. I don't know what to vote.

Hell if I don't see anything on the ballot resembling a 3rd party alternatiive, I'll vote communist !

@orangedac I vote green, I find they are a very good alternative, with a full platform (they didn't always have a full platform). Now that they have grown (ond continue to grow) into a full-blown party, I like them. Also, there is NOTHING wrong with voting communist. Communism is a perfectly sound political path, don't listen to the US's anti-anything-but-american. :)

Problem with green is that they favor a carbon tax and want Canada to adhere to a set of environmental standards that will surely wreck manufacturing. Canada's major export is oil so how does a party that wants to shut down fossil fuels square with the economic well being. I have not paid much attention to their platform but maybe I should before commenting.

Sadly I don't see the equivalent of a Ron Paul type of party or even a Libertarian party.

@orangedac Its deeper than just a carbon tax, I won't go into it, but the idea would be to alter the economy in such a way that properly managing your pressure on the environment, you actually profit. The carbon tax idea is simply so that a more sustainable company can sell their leftover carbon credits to a lesser one. Oil would be a slow phase out in favour of better/modern technologies. The Green party isn't set out to destroy the country financially, quite the opposite. Not familiar w/ Ron P

First, lie to sell the HST as revenue neutral and convince the taxpapers that it's good for the economy because of business savings. Second, twist real cost prior to implementation and negate all previous claimed net savings. It took admission from this tax crazy, habitual liar that the HST will be painful to finally shake Ontarians out of their Liberal loving stupor. Anybody with any sense could figure out that this thing was going to be a huge tax gouge since the first day it was announced.

HST is a scam. Do I want my tax to work for me? Sure. But goodness, another increase in tax is ridiculous. The so called exemptions are for generally useless items. It's ridiculous some of the things we have to put up with here in Canada. Extremely high dairy and poultry prices. Abusive banking fees and less banking choices. Already high taxes. Reduced health care services. The liberals are nuts.

I don't mind being taxed if the tax money is being used for what is intended for but knowing the Liberals and their scandals and scams, the tax money is usually squandered somehow and then when the public finds out, they can account for the millions that have been missing, so they raise taxes again to make up for the money that has been wasted somewhere......This is why you should NOT vote Liberal at any time!!!

When you buy a used car from a private sale, normally you would only pay the one tax when you go to register it.. with HST you would have to pay both.. from a private sale!

This is just another small example of why the HST is not a good thing for Canadians. Our government cna't even spend the money they collect from us now wisely.. how would more money to waste solve this?

The HST issue has become convoluted. The vast majority of small, medium and large businesses are positive on it as a new tax administration system. What should be done during these times of economic stress is remove the new and increased taxes that are to be imposed with its implementation.

great video, thanks for sharing. i was only thinking of my grocery bill before: I shop at discount grocer food basics and really don't want to spend even more than i already do.

the impact to other aspects of our life will be noticeable. i reviewed some of my other bills and there are many which only have GST on them.

Bust out the bicycle just in time for another tax grab on gasoline and whatever else they think is necessary. Conservatives and Liberals = Democrats and Republicans from the U.S. and we all know how good of a job the politicans in the U.S. do. Never again to these useless parties.
