Democrats in the Senate can just get rid of the filibuster through a simple majority vote. There is no reason to keep it. It's not even mentioned in the Constitution. The House of Representatives got rid of it over a century ago. It's about time the Senate did so as well. The filibuster is not only non-democratic but anti-democratic.

It's the moderate supporters who help crappy politicians win (e.g. Obama in 2012 since we didn't know he was bullshit in 2008). When Obama's moderate supporters vote for him instead of a third candidate in 2012 and he loses, the republican win falls on them, not on me, since I will vote for someone TBD.

What should be done is put the screws to wall street with the most restrictive regulations possible on credit default swaps and derivatives trading and on the banks by forcibly limiting interest rates on credit cards and mortgages along with banning all "service/convenience fees".
So what if it were to put a few thousand derivatives traders out of work they aren't people they are the equivalent of financial serial rapists, they can go get real honest jobs that are actually useful to society.

You clearly don't understand how guns work very well. First of all if somebody is within 5 feet of you, its pretty hard to miss them if you know how to hold your gun straight, which she does. Also, this isn't some FMJ hunting caliber, its a .22, a .22 is NOT going through any walls.
Why don't you learn a bit about guns and there use before passing judgment on it, the brady campaign is not an accurate source of gun info, try the NRA.

It's the moderate supporters who help crappy politicians win (e.g. Obama in 2012 since we didn't know he was bullshit in 2008). When Obama's moderate supporters vote for him instead of a third candidate in 2012 and he loses, the republican win falls on them, not on me, since I will vote for someone TBD.

The democratic base can’t win presidential elections or President Kerry would have taken office in ‘05. A vote for Obama is a vote for the republicans since he can’t win. We can either primary Obama, which won't happen, or vote for a 3rd candidate, which is what I’m doing. I’ll be able to say “I tried”.

All Clintons fault and the banks didn't want to do all those high risk loans they were just being forced to by all of those horrible democrats! All while Republicans we're trying to protect people who were given predatory subprime loans right? Yea that's how it all happened. Clinton played his part (and Bush followed in his footsteps) but still only a piece of the full story.

actually, you're dead on! the bankers for decades were redlining poor communities avoiding high risk loans. The CRA and Clinton's enhanced CRA came in with rules forcing bankers to lossen lending rules. Fannie mae did this by imposing quotas and controlling bank liquidity
Clinton created the housing bubble

My simplified view? not quite!! The philosophy that was the root cause of our financial meltdown started with the progressive Pres FDR who believed that every American had a right to home ownership, wanted that in a proposed Bill of Rights
Progressive Carter picked up on that with his CRA
Clinton carried it further with enhanced CRA and rules against current lending practices
no where can you find any trace of GOP hands in this disasterous social engneering

@genie0390 If you think sub-prime lending is an issue why do you not think there should be legal oversight of mortgage practices (including aggressive pushing of sub-prime rated mortgages) or of the sale of debt packages which include sub-prime debt? I don't mean to imply you're a fool but what you're saying about the economic crisis appears to be radically divergent from the position you're taking on the subject of this particular video; the consumer protection agency.

Bush had it at more 2.3 trillion in his first year as stated by the CBO. Bush raised the national debt to 14 trillion before the end of his second term, raising the debt ceilling 5 times.
