Nice job- one of my favorite tracks on that album. I think MT uses a Strat on that solo. Pretty Sure. Your Gibson sounds awesome. I can't complain about your sound.
Fantastic, many thanks. I've been obsessing over this song for the past couple days, I figured out the main part on guitar, and am very pleased to come across this exquisite coda to cap it off. I'm wondering if the backing chords are Am and Em alternating, or does it just hold Am, or something else?
Very good! Mick Taylor is one of my favourite guitar players, you did an excellent job, pretty close to the master ;) Is your guitar a es335? I would like to buy a new one (currently I have an Epiphone Les Paul), but I hesitate between a Gibson Les Paul and a Gibson es335. Which is better for Taylor-like guitar playing ?
Here I'm playing a Gibson ES-339 -- smaller, lighter body than the 335, but without any sacrifice in tone (or so the theory goes). MT's signature sound is derived from the Les Paul, without a doubt.
@oclero - Get a Cherry Sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard! Do not hesitate! You do not want an ES335. Go to the Gibson web site and read the interview with MT. He swears by his (reissue) Les Paul Standard.
C-major and A-minor pentatonic are pretty closely related, of course. But MT definitely plays B and F notes ... Initially, I thought he was playing in the A Aeolian mode -- that is, the C-major scale from A to A. But I'm pretty sure the song modulates from the key of Am to the key of C.

@JackStraw65
The chord progression for the solo is basically C and F ... A Cmaj7 sounds nice, too.

Nice job. Well done. I am so glad to find this. I always thought it was in C major but I have heard other people claim it is Am pentatonic

I see you've got this covered too! Just got the Exile remastered set today and am listening to all those classic moments again, hence revisiting MT.
