  • I can't wait for them to come out!!!

  • they could have used those on the day of the bruins parade

  • I saw one of the MBTA's new locomotives from EMD being tested on the Plymouth/Kingston line. 1/30/11

  • @chetirepyat Are you talking about the MP36PH-3C or the newer loco the mbta is getting?

  • Quite a modern design ;)

  • Like it :)

  • Is this what the new Rotom Commuter rail coaches going to look like?

  • No offense, but MBTA's commuter rail paint scheme kinda gives me a migraine. It just looks too gay. I mean, really, who is in charge of the MBTA railroad? The Hello Kitty Cat? :P

  • it looks exactly the same.....only computer generated!

  • @timbothehippy No it doesn't.

  • You know MBTA is buying and leasing some MP36s from the UTA

  • when will they be in service?

  • Purple plow seems a bit ridiculous.

  • lol

  • @BostonUrbEx lolololol

  • @BostonUrbEx haha yea they should get electric engines since they run the same line as amtrak

  • that design looks so retro

  • 2012 NOOOOO! will the new mbta cars be out before the world ends?

  • LOL.

  • I think those trains are already running on the Worcester/Framingham Line already. There also going to be getting newer engines soon so they can take the f-40 units out of service.

  • Really? I haven't seen any at South Station or at any of the yards...... I'll have to look out for them.

  • im not sure but from what i heard, there getting rid of the old f-40 units and trying to go with something more eco-friendly ( less smog and more power) would be nice if they went with the f-59 units ( the ones on the surfliner route: bullet nose), dash-8 or even better go all electrical.

  • you know, what could even cooler is if MBTA brought in Amtrak's own GE P42 Locomotives, redesign them and re-paint them with the Purple and Yellow MBTA Commuter Rail Colors.

  • My dream come true

  • I agree, the MBTA commuter trains using the Genesis locomotives would be cool! But I wouldn't mind if they kept the current F40PHs they use on the South Side... at least they're newer than the GP40-MC locomotives!

  • I just talked to an engineer and he said they were not going to be getting new locomotives

  • Well, I guess it was just a rumor, but hopefully the mbta will eventually get new equipment.

  • Yeah, it'd be nice if MBCR switched to all electric operations...would certainly improve equipment reliability and eliminate volatile fuel costs. Alas, MBCR and the Commonwealth seem to be more preoccupied with other investments.

  • cool mbta

  • This was more of a test video since it's the first one I uploaded on youtube. Besides, no one said you had to watch it, dumb ass.

  • Is this going to be what the new Rotom commuter rail look like? Or is the mbta going to actually do this paintjob to all the trains?

  • I'm 80% sure these are what the new commuter cars will look like.

  • Im positive. Metrolink has them, septa i think has them and now caltrain is looking into it,

  • It's basically the Kawasaki's with a new paint job.

  • hi acelakid94

  • lol the new train are gonna b manufactured in philly by a japonese company named Rotem

  • Rotem is made by hyndai too! hahaha

  • have they gotten the new trainas yet?

  • Nope

  • i love the commuter rail! Have you been on the Greenbush line? I gonna take it at some point.

  • Never been on the Greenbush line, but I've been on the Middleborough/Lakeville,Stoughton,Providence and Forge Park lines.Probaly going to take the Greenbush one day to - just to see what the route looks like.:)

  • if the next president allows that to happen i will have to collect cash real soon

  • Huh.........

  • well it does make sense.i think its a rumor that mbta will get those nice cars because it looks very expensive and the trains mbta has now are getting very week and i doubt that the trains will be able to pull those.

  • We'll see in a couple of years.

  • lets hope so

  • thats sweet

  • With ridership up to 21 Million, they better get them here before 2012.

  • thats a sick paint job will they still use the gp-40's?

  • Mabey, however there are several rumors that they ordered 10 MP-36's but thats just a rumor......

  • definately going into msts2.

  • Hope so!

  • it would be the ultimate besides having new jersey transit and some MTA stuff too, ive heard they are thinkin of putting MTA stuff in

  • i agree with murjax..the mbta should invest better new locomotive and at least they should come up with an electric locomotive since oil prices are sky rocketing..but the color scheme is not that bad..the same as it was before but..it looks a bit more modern age.

  • Ok, this appears to be the same equipment. From what I currently understand, this means that the MBTA will continue to use diesels on all of their trains even though they run on a high speed portion of the NEC. I've been told that the current equipment cannot be pulled by electrics. If I were them, I'd be investing in better equipment rather than a fancy paint scheme.

  • ooo alright

  • hope the mbta does get new cars like that in the future

  • They were already ordered late last year.

  • good so maybe their be in service by the end of this year or the beginning of next year

  • All of them should be delivered by 2012

  • are any going to be put in service before 2012 or all in 2012

  • Not sure, I'll look it up.

  • Well, 75 were ordered and four of them should be in service in 2010,while the remaining 71 cars are to still be built/deliverd between 2011 and 2012.

  • well just have to be patient

  • Yup

  • is this for real life or train sim

  • Yup it's real. The new cars are going to be built by Hyundai Rotem to replace the city's old ones.I just said they would look good in MSTS or MSTS2.

  • WHERE DID U GET THAT?

  • I googled New MBTA Bi-Level Cars.

  • THANKS!
