Thank you Ms. Mallis!!!! I hated the feather gown the second I saw it. Talk about an eyesore, and I can't believe they didn't even mention that the tacky swan dress was falling apart on the runway, wtf??? I think they knew his Reco guy was the weakest by far so the editors went light on him. Sorry but I really don't care much for this show
@paparazzeii I loved Reco but thought his clothes had a low rent ghetto look, too. It's not racist, dumbass. He specifically said he paid his way thru college dressing strippers, and this is what I think has screwed him.
i feel reco was the best and he doesn't need him because on all of these reality talent shows the winner never makes it big after the show goes off the air. look at top model, american idol, the other reality fashion shows, america gots talent, survivor, etc..... nobody made it big make it on your own u might have a better chance and your feelings won't get hurt in the end by any stupid judges that can't even dress themselves
I am so upset that reco left, he was one of the best. His designs were great. I loved his dresses and that blue coat. I hated danelia and james paul collection, too gloomy.
This competition should be a perfect chance for new designers to get their individualities recognised and distinguished rather than showing the world they can make sellable items. But I don't think there are lot of Americans would appreciate JP's collection. If it's in Europe, perhaps there will be more ordinary people vote for him.
JP's collection and runway show made me want to donate money to a 3rd world charity...not buy clothes. It brought to mind, for me, ideas of poverty...not fine fabrics and decadence. Is this just me????
Rico was my favourate....he knows what a modern woman wants.....his collection could go all the way to the modern woman, every day women as well as red carpet......Anna was my next favourate....i dont know about D..she was okey...James Paul...i like his creativity but we just dont see pple wearing his collection...not anywere......that is only good for run away......Rico you are simply the best....
i love the different styles.. anna is very ready to wear and very practical.. daniella is very edgy ready to wear.. while JP is completely cerebral and intellectual and waaay avante garde just like the greats like rei kawakubo and yohji yamamoto.. JP is the only one worthy of the Paris, London, New York, and Milan run ways while the other two are very predictable.. but very beautiful.. i hope JP wins
Totally agree. He made his statement as a promising high-end or Couture designer. He definitely has the attitude.
The other two are more like middle-class department store brand designers: sellable and pretty. As a designer competition, I think the concept and designing capability and creativity are more important than sellability in terms of judging standard.
Reco's tops and that gold skirt and suit are SO SO awesome - the dresses all did not suit me, but everything else I would buy and wear and treasure. Anna's clothing is really nice and wearable, but it doesn't have the 'I have to have it right now' factor. Daniella would work for all the fashion trendoids out there, but it isn't suitable for anything but personal style (not work attire). Very fashionable and at the moment. James Paul has awesome ideas, but they don't work for real people.
Ricco's design, for me is all over the place. How could a feather gown, a wedding dress and a reallyreally short dress be put into the same category/theme. I know he's taking a risk, so that he can show his passion for the art, but then it lacks the attractiveness or the complexity of an idea that a piece of art should have.
A great designer should have a style of their own, even when inspired by others, their design still have to express who they really are as a designer. For me, James Paul should win because his designs and music fits perfectly with his theme. The workmanship is also flawless, and there is actually a concept.
Anna and Daniella are great designers, but I just feel that they designs for commercial purpose only -- not for the art of fashion. Great colors and style, but not too original.
This show is a tad full of shit. The elimination process was fairly arbitrary. The idea that the show is going to produce "the next great designer" is ridiculous
Danielle coat was off too man-ly... it need to be taken on the sides or slimmer... the pants were baggy in unattractive way. The concept was there, Ana was cool, it was bit everywhere but great pieces, JP was a cooler idea of fashion, it was still the same "one trick pony" design he's always.
I don't think he follow direction, Recco couldn't trapplin over Danielle with his creations. To me there was no real direction or focus or idea of his designs. The boy got talent, his failed to see that everything a woman wear doesn't has to be "fabulous". He miss the mark and the idea of his theme. The colors were wrong, and design was wrong, and too costume-y. But he has made a name for his himself in the dresses world. So I he can refine his work.
It sucks because I like each collection for different reasons. Like, I would never really vote Anna against James Paul or something like that because they're collections are so different. Personally though, I liked Daniela and JP's collection.
I love Daniella i want her to win soo badly! I would wear anything she would make! I also like Anna but not as much! And Daniella's collection WAS well constructed and they werent UGLY! they were BEATIFUL!
I think Daniella 's collection is really really edgy and modern and fashion-forward that you can actually see in a fashion magazine like Vogue UK /Paris.
I think either James Paul or Daniela should win because Anna's was unforgivably unfocussed. It is supposed to be a collection, after all.
My favourite piece of hers was the vintage looking, crepey print dress, which was really elegant, but none of her pieces bore any relation to each other. It was completely askew.
To be honest, people may not like her personality - I sure as hell don't - but Daniela should have it.
I wish people would stop whinging about how "complicated" James Paul's designs are.
There is a real market for clothing like that. It's a bit Yohji Yamamoto, a bit Marithe et Francois Girbaud. There are plenty of stylish people who can DEAL with intellectual design.
Fern Mallis is completely correct when she says that his biggest challenge is lack of hanger appeal, but this idea that his clothes are somehow insane and that nobody would wear them is outrageous.
I agree with Reco to a certain extent, sometimes you have to stand behind yr designs, and believe in yr talents.
Being a student of architecture, i know how to defend a design, even Frank Gehry was criticised for his concepts. But I believe all designers at some point have to evolve in their way of thinking.
I can't stand JP or his collection. Even throughout the show, I didn't like his designs, and it seems like EVERY week, they've told him to simplify his clothing, but he never does anything about it.
i think they all hav there good and need to improve points, when the judges were choosing they said the cons and pros, but i think that they should have givin them another change to get it right, but then it would be too hard!!!!
so,there choices were good,but i will miss reco's eyes!!!
Anna's collection was pure eye-candy. Every piece was sumptuous and made me want to reach through the screen and touch it. She improved the most over the course of the show. I was a Reco fan, but Anna wowed me. And every week didn't the judges keep telling everyone to use lots of color? She really got that. Hope she wins.
I agree. Although a clear point of view and a cohesive collection is important in the fashion world, I don't think her immediate success will be affected. Her pieces were all very wearable and innovative. Anyone would buy them.
If it hadnt been for the white dress Reco still would be there...they shouldve kicked Ana out...her collection was so sloppy and all over the place...Reco has so much talent and is so much fun as a designer...I hope Daniela doesnt win, she such a bitch...unlike James Paul who is an awesome, humble and prolific designer...Go JP!
Ugh Kelly... I haven't complained about her in the past, but she is so quick to defend Reco every time, that I can't help but say that she's biased. She has a clear favorite Reco, and I think she has a decided opinion against James Paul. Just reading her body language from 3:38-3:50... I'm glad it didn't affect the decision in the end.
I'm happy with the final 3. And with Reco gone, I feel like the end result will be more about the design than a popularity contest.
Reco is very talented, but his downfall was that he thought he knew it all. He was not open to criticism or advice. You could tell that from his remarks after he was eliminated. I can't way I'm sad he's gone.
Reco's feather dress was a knock-off from Project Runway Season 4 winner-Christian Soriano's feather dress. Only the feathers here were turned up, instead of down.
There is so much plagiarism from Anna and Daniela in severalof their pieces. Go to Project Runway Season 5 winner- Leanne Marshall and look at the fan pleating on her outfits. It's obvious Anna copied her patterns. Daniela's collection is a cheap version of Project Runway Australia Season 2-winner Sunnys military inspired collection. Such a lack of integrity on this show. They obviously looked at other collections on the net. Bullshit!!
Well, that's fine because there's nothing else to watch... Reco is like the Michael of PR. Good in the individual challenges, but misses the point when it comes to the collection.
James-Paul's collection is the most innovative one out there. Fashion show is about showing the world new and unique clothes--not just commercial clothes--and James-Paul did that.
James Paul definitely has a POV. But the judge was right: it would take an instruction flyer to make sure a woman was wearing the thing correctly; remember, I think he said even the dresser got the dress put on the model wrong
i can see why people like daniella's collection, but think about it.,..how would it look on real people? a lot of things would not look very good on a lot of people [and i wouldn't want to see them wearing it]
I liked Daniella's collection the most. But I think Anna might win because most people disliked Daniella and her attitude from the beginning. But may the best person win!
I'm so glad Reco got eliminated!.. His collection was horrible!.. is like clothes for a tranny show!.. Jp's was amazing!.. Ana So cute i love it. i hate daniela but her collection was really creative!
me either I liked Reco's collection i felt it was dramatic and sexy I like dramatic and sexy. I even liked the stupid feathered dress IM mad!! I like JP but hell it was not wearable I'm sorry! Some of the clothes were okay but like they said it looks like it needs an instruction guide. Ana's clothes were CUTE CUTE CUTE i felt like I NEEDED them now and Daniella's were really good I felt really proud of her
All very deserving. Thank god reco's out. His garments were dull and old. His fit is also off the mark; He had to pick up the dress a few times on the runway.
as for winner, I hope anna wins. the collection may not be cohesive but its commercial. JP is just too artsy and uninviting. Daniela is where the middle gound is at.
are any of you really making clothes at all... or just being mean
