Ahh, how I miss the days when getting a star meant awesome invincibility instead of just being a token collectible for doing some random thing. Good times.

Also, Super Paper Mario theme is by far my favorite. Not just because of the awesome intro, but because of its association with Awesome Giant 8-Bit Mario. Awesome Giant 8-Bit Mario kicks ass and you know it.

@MisterVercetti Well the starman is used for invincibility in the 2D games (mostly) and in the 3D it's been used for powering a castle/ship since Super Mario 64 in '96. Besides, both 3D and 2D (and pretty much any) Mario game is awesome whatever the star does. So yeah, since the first, all the way to SMB Wii. Well, you probably already know that but didn't think about then. It doesn't matter though, as long as Nintendo keeps making Mario awesome!

I think that the Golden Hammer music from Wrecking Crew should be included in the mix... Didn't it grant Mario (or Luigi) a sort of invincibility where enemies could be defeated (something that was not possible with a regular hammer)? Please correct me if I am wrong... Also, it's a great song... Another one of the hundreds of great 8-bit songs that Nintendo has presented to us...

Well I think I named all the themes correctly. At least I hope so, that took me at LEAST 2 hours to figure out, and most of that was on one theme. Couple of those were actually tricky, but I knew most of 'em.

@SmokedHostage in the Super Mario Galaxy Series they replace the starmen to turn invincible with rainbow stars just to get that Classic Mario feeling and that Modern Mario feeling
