I was fortunate to meet Robert Cray at the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY in 1990, walk the aisles with Richard Cousins, his bassist and chat. Just recently saw RC at the Lilac festival in 2011 and he is still so amazing. His tone is so smooth. Richard Cousins was still bassist too. The guys played great and there was a full, huge moon to boot!
Wonderful performance starring two blues greats, Eric Clapton & Robert Cray. Also, playing rhythm guitar is Hiram Bullock, who was part of the band for this show, which included Marcus Miller & Omar Hakim as well. I believe it was called, "Sunday Night." This is probably my favorite song by Clapton & Cray.
I feel privileged to have grown up in a home filled with the sounds of Robert Cray, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many many more. I think in some small way the diversity of cultures and raw emotion I was exposed to has made me a better man.
Cray had some tasty licks on this song - Also I think Cray wrote it alone. Song is on claptons unplugged. I don't believe Robert has put it on any albums.

At 1:26, it looks like Clapton suddenly felt the effect of his music.

Fantastic sound. I believe Clapton and Cray were at the peak of their "sound" by then (not mentionning Cream and D&D of course). To me anyway

Robert Cray and Clapton wrote the song together and split the solos in half.
However, Clapton kept the singing for himself. It's a brilliant blues song and, frankly, the best modern blues ballads I've heard.
