  • I think she did great!! She is an amazing fighter.

  • nativeboxerchic-Thank you very much, I so very much appreciate your positive input- Cobra..

  • Cobra still opens up too much when kicking. Luckily her opponents handskills were less then impressive. Other then that she fought very well. Nice action to her opponents inside leg at 3:22. Too bad she didn't follow up on that with a left/right jab.

  • DrMabuse, Cobra made far more errors here than she should have, She could have stepped inside the kicks at any time and dropped her as you can tell be here reaction to even a light jab to the chin. In her defense, not that she needs any, as we both know, a win is a win and some will be better than others, the sun dose not shine everyday for anyone. (I used that one on Cobra) of course it is also true. She did not feel well this night & it was her third fight in one month. Continued-

  • This and all the pre-fight bull -see comments- that let her get cold and distracted lead to a slow start and never really felt her pace. Also this is the daughter of the Crazed promoter we spoke of. He used every tactic possible screaming so loud so as to keep Cobra from hearing her trainers instructions and of course hoping to sway the judges, it worked as one scored the fight for her opponent, while not a great fight or performance Cobra worked plenty enough for the win.-TMS

  • DrMabuse, one last note, this week 9/21 she has Fight VI the last of this series, this will make four fights in two mos. Then we have the Joe Lewis Conference 4 days in Oct. where she will spar with at least one of the BB's testing for Grandmaster Lewis's Rating. I will be doing the videos of the events etc. I just received conformation from her trainer that will be fighting a National Level Tournament on 11/3. The USA Classic Championships in up north in Virginia Bch. VA. -- Thanks-TMS

  • I thought Cobra looked good. I'd like to see her land a high kick in that fight, I think it would have changed the fight dramatically. The other girl was also very good I though with her legs but outclassed with the hands. Cobra is getting stronger though all the time. Does she have knockout power yet?

  • First things first, just for you Rick, check out Rd. 1-1:15,1:33, Rd.2- 3:09,3:42,3:39,4:14,4:33, Rd.3- 5:41,6:24,6:58 and this last one is textbook. In addition for an example of what a "kick to the inside of thigh" looks like- Rd.1-2:54, and for the "outside" 2:59. These were the most obvious that scored, the number of kicks thrown is not what wins, they must strike the target area, a blocked kick, which 85% of her opponents were does not score and in fact makes you look ineffective.

  • She was dominant for sure and her techniques seem to be getting stronger all the time.

  • That was good Rick, you caught me in the middle of my last reply. I know in this small video it is hard to see, but knowing when it is coming you should be able to find a few of those kicks I pointed out.- Thanks Again-TMS

  • I noticed that too :-) The only reason I was asking is that girl she fought was pretty aggressive and as she moves up in class she'll need to be able to back people off with some of her techniques. I noticed she just missed a nice front kick at the beginning of that fight which could have really changed things too. Cobra seems pretty tall so I was thinking if she can get her opponents respect with the kicks and keep them outside in her range she'll be able to use all of her skills.

  • Rick, she gave the "appearance of aggression by kicking one time after another, but they were mostly wasted energy , fighters less skilled often use a "charging" attack to give the impression of control, when in reality, they are just "charging" a good example of this can be see in the previous fight. Had these judges been more experienced the scoring gap would have been a little wider still, but it's okay a Win is a Win.-TMS

  • Rick,to answer you last question, the answer is yes, she does have the power, easily so in the right hand. However, habits learned "sparring" in karate class are proving difficult to overcome. We are concentrating on this aspect now. You can expect that KO in the not to distant future 2-3 more fights at most. If she would have hit this girl with a glancing blow with the right it would have been over. It is not the number of kicks but rather those that effectively hit the target. Thanks-TMS

  • She is going to be amazing that's for sure!

  • Wow. That was the most vicious fight I've seen to date. The other girl was by far the most aggressive of Cobra's opponents. I have to say Cobra did not appear intimidated at all and held her ground despite the barrage of kicks. I think Cobra's strongest round was the third when she landed some good kicks and punches to her opponent. Looking forward to the next fight.

  • kups, to a degree you are correct if only in attitude. That being said you are likely making the mistake of giving to much credit to an attempted kicks. If you go over the video carefully look for kicks that connect cleanly not those blocked either with the hanging knee or elbows. Not many from her opponent, I have never saw anyone with so many blocked kicks. It is hard to make out the details, it takes several views.- Thanks-TMS

  • Comment continued...

This is why I'm not a judge. ;) Thats also why the judges scored the match for Cobra, because they saw all those blocks and missed kicks and saw the kicks and punches landed by Cobra...A few of those skirmishes late in the fight I thought Cobra might knock her down......

  • Kups, you are correct, even though the start of scoring action was slow due to circumstances before it's start. Even though she was not feeling her best she turned up the heat every round, her cardio condition is now outstanding. This opponent at least made it interesting due to the contrast in styles, but you have to know more than one trick to be in the show. I think your getting the idea, the closer you look the more you see what really happened. We appreciate your efforts-TMS and Cobra too!

  • Kups, as to the males vs females in fighting, what you notice is that the action with females tend to be much faster (on avg.) than with the males. However, with the males power is a much bigger factor this is why you do not see many "mixed" matches. I thinking your understanding of what to look for, is better and will get better still, check out those time codes I listed for instance. Cobra is after me to get off...Thanks- TMS and Cobra Too!

  • Kups, Cobra's opponent also had no real boxing skills, in fact she was lucky that Cobra was not her normal self or I am certain, she would have been hurt if not ko'ed. Notice when pressed into the ropes or corners with punches, there is little defense. As for the scoring the most accurate was one round even and two for Cobra. Even her trainer until tonight did not realize that that night was her third fight in a months time, that is a lot of training and fighting in a month.-TMS

  • Yeah, I am watching this again a few more times to pick up what I missed.....I guess the agression of her opponent is clear (which surprised me as Cobra seemed to have fought less agressive older boys in some matches), but to say it was "tough" for Cobra is a reach......

  • Congratulations to Cobra! Her skills have improved a lot and her self-confidence has grown visibly. I'm sure she would have won even more easily if she hadn't agreed to make a kicking contest of the fight.

  • WOW T

that was enjoyable to watch..Cobra has certainly come along way.her shields are tight, her hands are up more, her kicks follow through most times. i notice her foot work has improved as well. shifting her weight to increase power...nice..well done.

Again as always send her our love from Oz. Ed

  • Ed, thank you very much for your comments and support as you know this means a lot at this stage of development. She seems to continue to get stronger with every fight, she trains hard and continues to grow. Send me an update about yours when you have a chance. Take Care- TMS and Cobra

  • This young lady has much potential if she continues to train and progress. Her level of "Toughness" for lack of a better expression is impressive for a female, especially a teenager. Keep up the good work and Kudos to your trainers.

  • Thank you for you comments and Support-TMS

  • Thank you BD2250, from all of us at "Camp Cobra", your comments and your time are appreciated.

Thanks Again- TMS and Cobra Too!

  • Good fight as always. towards the end Cobra Missed a kick and took a hit for that. that may have been a bad move but she still got a well-deserved win. btw did you notice that other girl held Cobra's Leg? or was it just me for that instant? (during R3)

  • GreenK4, thanks for your comments. As for the kicking, although her opponent threw many more kicks in total, more than 90% were blocked by Cobra and none caused any damage. Cobra chose to have a kicking contest when she could have easily finished the fight early as even the slightest punch jarred the girl indicating she was not accustomed to being hit. As it were Cobra was not feeling well, and the girl got off easy. -TMS

  • GreenK4, on the leg holding, this is legal as long as it does not exceed 1 sec. before a move is made or the fighter starts to fall, at which time the leg must be released. In this case the fighter was digging Cobra's leg out of her rib cage after a really hard round kick, look closely (it is hard to see in the small clip, heavily compressed, I am going to try and improve it (the video) tonight) and you will see the body cave into the kick-TMS

  • great fight!!! :) lots of speed and energy.... and really good hits :)

  • I apologize for the level of compression forced by the system. The only other option is to cut it in half, and this seems to confuse all but the regular visitors. So in an effort to please the many I cut it into one piece, but all of the fight is contained here, even if the details are not as I would like. Thank You All- TMS & Cobra

  • This was Fight Night V of the VI fight series the last will be on 9/21. There were many unpleasant circumstances for Cobra (caused by the other corner) in this fight delaying it's start for over five min. in total. Her opponent is her age, but only trained in Muay Thai so Cobra's trainer agreed to leg kicks above the knee, but no clinching etc, wrestling or the like. But the bottom line is that Cobra stepped up to the plate for the third fight in a month and pulled of another win.-TMS
