  • How do you harness all of the sun's energy at once? Here lies the real question, and the answer may save our planet.

  • We need to turn this guy into a Cyborg, to keep him running and working on this.

  • It's hysterical watching all the geeks in the audience that are completely fascinated by this load of crap.

  • @Dayga LMAO

  • the lighting on the audience faces is so gay

  • lol I would find it hilarious if aliens were watching this and built it.

Then when they conquer the galaxy, they will be like. 'Oh! We saw this video on earth that told us how exactly what to use in order to build our space force'

    XD

  • I am all pro science, and not only am I fascinated by the mysteries of the universe, but also I hope we figure them all out, just for the shake of knowledge. Science has proven again and again that there is nothing that we can't achieve once we've figure out how things work, so it's only a matter of time.

But it's only reasonable to wonder whether it'd lead to self destruction, of us and the universe itself

    In college talk:

"Too much power man. Men are bogus and may fuck up the whole universe"

  • imagine that in the army!

  • Why all this trouble with nuclear fusion?

Just throw an active stargate into the local star.

  • The covenant are watching

  • this is what he says:MY fleet willfly into position.then each ship will fire at its own target....blah bah blah.

epicly, the funniest part is he said MY fleet.

    faIL

  • A big rock works better.

  • @Seyeklopz Probably. But Kaku is just telling us how it would be done if we wanted to destroy it using lasers.

  • POWER OF GALAXY IN ONE LASER BEAM???

  • My tactic for destroying planets is an atomic bomb machine-gun. :3

  • Why don't the americans just build one... It would be a monster weapon

I'm just saying this because i want to use it on CoD

  • 30 second Advertisements!!! this is getting worse all the time

  • @Ricki145 i just found out that, when the ads come out, you can just refresh the browser and that's gone

  • The only reason you hate Justin Bieber is because he has a girl voice. That is not his fault Clonetrooper1019.

  • E.T. your doomed

  • A Planet Buster? You better put that inside justin bieber

  • I just saw the weirdest fucking polar bear ad ever.

  • @FatetheHedgehog me too

  • "Where'd I put that planet?"

  • This is what I will do to all of the planets in the Titan AE universe as I unleash my vengeance upon Titan AE for its attacks against the World of Lion King with the Drej Mothership. I would prefer it if it were the Drej Planet instead of Earth being destroyed by this planet buster desigend according ot realistic scientific principles. The planet buster that I will use of Kaku's design will be, like my Project Orion II starship, a breathtaking Blue and White!

  • does he want somone to estroy planet earth? and im pretty sure thats what the ending of the world would look like from whats been described in the bible o.o

  • Crazy person...two flaws! Firstly, why just a star? GET A UNIVERSE IN A BOTTLE! Secondly, why make thousands of ships? One anti-matter bomb strapped to a hyperdrive would do the job!

  • @MorganOfTheAncients Uhm, we CAN'T control a whole universe, we can barely control a single star's power. And we can't hold anti-matter. It would explode when it touched the matter around it. You need to think these things threw before you state it as fact.

  • @Salien1999 Magnetic fields for anti-matter! And keep it in a total void, too. Then, when you want it to detonate it, just deactivate the magnetic field, and it will go ker-bloom.

  • @MorganOfTheAncients Yes, but the electrons from the normal matter (*cough* Oxygen and hydrogen & stuff) would touch the anti-electrons and blow up.

  • @Salien1999 Who even cares? My post had no meaning behind it, if you think that was stupid, just see some of my ideas that actually have some thought behind them!

  • A power of 1000 nuclear fusion reactors!

That definitely should make Darth Vader have a chipmunk voice...

Those who understand a bit about fusion should understand my joke ^^

  • hehe guys you're all missing the point anyway :)

i think its his way of showing us that an advanced civilization by 1000 or 2000 years can actually destroy us with no sweat if such civilzation found and or found hostile..

it is true.. there is no end for physics and what we can do with it with the right ammount of time at our hands

  • @eliasjabbour31337

That already happened, at least in the game Space Siege - the aliens in the game, angry that humans colonized their abandoned homeworld (why did they left it in the first place, don't ask me), slaughtered humanty's entire fledging space empire and blew up Earth by detonating the core via lasers. Dumb, really, considering it would be cheaper using a Relativitic Kill Missile travelling at near speed of light and size of a television.

  • Hammer of Dawn!!!!!!!

  • man this dude is a stupid idiot. i cant believe no one in the room interrupts him to point out he is not god and he doesnt know everything and hes a fool for talking like he has any definite answers. i will say it again this dude is a stupid idiot. he has no clue about shit. i could blow up a planet with a fart

  • @voidremoved Haha, if you believe he is a fool, then you are the fool. There is no limit to mankind can accomplish, given the time.

  • @voidremoved your belief will only get you "yay" far..... STFU!

  • @voidremoved It takes roughly 3.5 ^ 32 Joules to blow up an earth. The methods can very, although some ways are far more efficient than others. In the end it depends on the time / matter available. In theory, Michio's method could work. I personally like the idea of slamming a cloaked bollide with a diameter of 10.8 km, the density of tungsten, and a velocity of 99.8 the speed of light, into the earth, to destroy it.

My next trick would be to kill god with some kind of a space chainsaw.

  • @voidremoved You're the fool if you think you can blow up a planet with a fart!

  • Why would he want to destroy a planet?Michio Kaku is evil :(

  • ZOMG!! the Death Star Weapon!!!!

  • Dr. Kaku why you don`t use exelarated aniparticles to annihilate this planet it won`t cosm so much energy

  • Dr. Kaku why you don`t use exelarated aniparticles to annihilate this planet

  • At this time we will be able to manipulate space and time. We won't need do design a weapon, we can just stretch the space around the planet to tear it apart. And don't forget that when we will be able to do this, we won't think the same (we won't be human anymore), shooting laser beams at stuff will be so has been. It is like our ancestor used spears to hunt animals, today we use rifles, hunting with spears is so awkward for us now.

  • You can't trust an old man that still has that amount of hair. You just can't.

  • @unabomberman Buddy, apparently you have not seen an old asian yet :D LOL

Not only are We Geniuses, we stay young longer!

  • humans were able to build atomic bombs that can destroy cities.. no reason why they can build stuff that can destroy planets

  • Blow it and take us of our misery !

  • And that's how the Covenant glasses planets.

  • @Highlaw actually, the covenant use a certain type of energy projector (the big guns on their capital ships) and shoot plasma down onto the planey, not energy with a laser. The plasma, first, burns the atmoshphere, then pretty much burns the rest of the planet into something similar to glass. They don't actually blow up the planet. 8D

  • @skybluespaghetti You ruined the joke :(

  • Kaku is evul i tell ya... evuuul

  • @KaLNFoRc3R HE IS THE SITH LORD!!! OMG!!!!!

  • cool:D lets make em and test it out on mars!

  • And this is why our planet's weather is all out of whack. Someone musta blown up some planet causing our earth to go out of its normal orbit, effectively changing the weather patterns.

  • In the future, terrorists will blow planets instead cars or buildings

  • we need more people like dr. michio kaku and less idiots in this world

  • At the end of this episode one of the nerds actually says 'I just hope it is used for good and not evil' with no hint of irony.

  • that's fucking scary

  • actually the lazors ´d burn some holes about the size of 10cm into the planet and ppl ´d get some epic lulz when michio kaku freaks out XD

  • I've only seen Youtube clips of this show, but I've noticed that in every clip, his "audience" is always over-acting, nodding, and looking like they're just amazed by his academic prowess. It's like the fake audience on Criss Angel's show.

  • appliable to nibiru?

  • @TheNoEvilMan777 look 2003 ub313 HAS NO FRAKIN LIFE ITS LIKE PLUTO JUST A LITTLE BIGGER AND 30x FATHER FROM THE SUN ... oh yea pass this meassage on

  • sounds like a good way to get your entire fleet of ships destroyed in a planetary explosion

  • @stuffedfun

    this comment contains win!

  • michio kaku... why do i get the feeling that your going to cause the apocalyps?

  • face it michio kaku it took 2 decades to discover the atomic bomb power now a planet buster? probably 200 milleniums

  • @jasincl 2 decades? no, it took since the beggining of creation for the idea to spark. If you are speaking about advancement? we go from railway to spaceship in 100 years and in 30 years from a computer needing an entire building to being able to fit into a pocket... 200 millennia? no lol... give it about 50 years if people really wanted to do it. The thing, people are too lazy or scared to advance technology... whether thats a good thing or bad thing.

  • thank God only 8,000 people have seen this.

quck someone pull it off youtube before the birthers and teabagers see it... lol

  • No limit to how much energy in a beam of light...

    I did not know this...

  • What's awesome is the only people who are good at this are japanese. Basically - Anyone piloting one of those rays is not coming home for christmas. (Banzai.)

  • @kruglin LOL!

  • You people have been watching WAY TO MUCH negative science fiction movies. Seriously. I think a weapon like this would perhaps help in destroying NEO. Ok, so OBVIOUSLY blowing up a comet heading for earth creates a million different problems instead of one big one, but still this idea could lead to other ideas in DEFENSE of the earth, not from aliens, but how about the very real threat of annihilation by asteroid? (and sure... aliens too. why not?)

  • Death ray??? Bad Idea. Hiroshima anyone? Its amazing how many scientists are full of evil plots and designs.

  • @rickydepths1 just ideas, what you do with them makes them evil, or not.

  • that would be soooooo h-core

  • This reminds me of how Earth was blown up in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...

  • I HATE ads

  • this guy is my god, hes fucking crazy and i love him

  • Let's build a 1000 of them and blow up Mars! =D

  • I want one... ...no I want many!

  • this planet buster is "simple" because it "only" uses energy equivalent to what the sun release. I can only imagine the power of a quasar used on one of those, let alone an armada.

  • I was watching the Discovery Channel tonight and they were showing this same information seen here, but with an important twist... Or shall I say 'spiral'... The same type of spiral as seen in Norway was shown in the promo I saw on this matter. The show is going to be aired on Sci-Fi Channel and is titled "How To Blow Up A Planet"... At least in this area, they are running the commercial heavily tonight...

  • Now imagine this in relation to those spheres that appeared around the sun recently, in which were never there before, and since their detection, appear to have disappeared again...

  • thermo-nuclear fusion reaction? i like that!

  • Even one of those things is already so deadly. And just imagine, from a great distance, from way beyond your enemy's arm-length, you can fie it again, and again, and again.

  • If some aliens saw this show our TV transmitions, they would be SSOOO scared of us!

  • ahahahah Really? Scared? ahahaha lol for all we know the aliens have already made one of this ahahahaha... XD XD

and to think dude.. they already made a space craft.. ahahah .

damn are all stupid UFO sighting real or just a bunch of Bullshit Note: "if aliens do exist why dont they show their fucking faces to us not just hide from us and spy over us.. WTF dude.." Bullshit or not.. ahaha still we should be Scared of them ahahhahah

    ~cheerio

  • that is assuming there are alien who are more advanced then us, im not saying there arent aliens, i think there are but what if we as humans are the most advanced thing in the universe

  • @stix2011 humans? advance? dude.. dont you get what im saying? the "Aliens" already made a "SpaceCraft" did we "Humans" made one? noo... lol by now the "Aliens" are already planning to dominate the earth....

  • @vickblink182 what if its up to us to find them tho?

  • There must be a spectrum of beings out there The Universe is just too Vast let alone our Milky way galaxy and Solar system...Below human intellect,Human-equivalent intellect, and the suspicious Above Human intellect.....when we settle Mars ..Humans on earth and Mars will diverge in nature and will become alienlike to one another...

  • Do we give a rat's ass when we see a roach..for all we know that roach was coming from work or school..and we just swoosh it because of it's invasive nature...Lmao..bad example..but yeah We may not be that important to bother with

  • i think they are

why do you think they havent landed here yet?

  • True that! hahah

  • @OfolenWS

unless they have a galaxy buster.

  • You don't need to destroy a planet to kill everything--just scorch the surface or blow away 1% of it to create massive quakes and volcanic eruptions.

  • Sigh, you don't understand the way the mind of a mad scientist works. Blow up planet >>>>> kill every one on it. Killing everyone on it is easy. Blowing it up is the real challenge.

  • why dont u just make an artfical super massive star and some how have its life end early to create a controlable super nova and blow up 100 planets at once!

  • Ah, Michio Kaku... always asking 'how can we do this?' instead of 'should we?'

  • @genericmeatunit but asking how is more fun

  • Not for Alderaan. :(

  • It makes me recall the film The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

  • bullshit till some makes it happen

  • your dumb

  • @FIGHTFANNERD3

then make me a planet buster if you cant your dumb too.

  • OMG Michio Kaku broke the galactic code!

  • lets hope they dont make this

  • When this guy actually builds something he talks about, then ill be impressed.

  • When this guy actually builds something he talks about, the world will be destroyed.

  • thats not very likely is it

  • @ThatsSoBS

pffffft, when cats grow wings- oh wait

  • @ThatsSoBS reaserch nikola tesla

  • @903harman I already know of tesla, he's my inventing idol. Where he left off, I will pick up and usher the world into the 22nd century before I die. :)

  • @ThatsSoBS hehe he's my idol also.i hate the name edison.. >:(

  • 0:49 Shwing!!!

  • Today's technology is enough to destroy a planet.

It would take the entire military budget of the most military countries on earth, but it could be done. High temperature gas cooled fission reactors and a free electron laser would do it.

That's assuming you just want to blow it into pieces, rather than totally vapourize it.

  • those machines will be at the size of one refridgerator. then how many numbers one should need, and even the machine itself cannot tolerate the power of the laser beam itslef? if the laser could destroy a planet which is far stronger than the machine! ...This is funny..! may be you can destroy an astroied.

  • lol its funny when mr. Kaku says "my army" and "my weapon" and stuff like that! makes one think that he's building an evil armie to take over the universe or something

  • @legendaryPokedex He is, and I`m his chief engineer and we are up to 749 of these ships now.We should be done by...2012

  • @legendaryPokedex maybe he's like palpatine from star wars, the image of him is great, but the person underneath that image is a terrifying. no offense to michio kaku

  • @legendaryPokedex He is..

  • This is all fine and good, but how do we achieve world peace? What about cancer?

  • @nobleheight You miss the point, this is 'sci fi' science, as in 'science fiction'. It's technology that isn't available to us yet but provides for good television. If he could actually achieve world peace and cure all the diseases, do you really think he would waste his time making tv shows?

  • We're just about done with Cancer. Look up HAMLET. There's your cure right there.

  • @nobleheight Cancer should be 90% curable b 2030 due to medical nanotechnology. Right now, cancer is about 45% curable. Cancer isn't a huge problem for the future. Nanotechnology should be able to destroy now incurable diseases such as cancer and HIV.

  • You know about counting chickens before they hatch?

  • Awesome! Just look at their faces while Michio Kaku talks! Muahahahahaha....ha!

  • but all of the spaceships would them be destroyed as well

  • I do not believe that humans can be trusted with a weapon like this.

  • Sure you can blow up a planet. But WHY would you want to?

  • @1RadicalOne

Our days as a species are numbered. We won't last long messin' around like this!

  • I do hope that your days are not numbered. I would like to see human civilization reach spacefaring capability, which would almost certainly guarantee survival.

  • @1RadicalOne what could guarentee survival is when we can travel even through to other universes cause even they die eventually

  • Travel to another universe? How about a more immediate solution for the more immediate issues?

  • @1RadicalOne u was talkin about a guarentee survival and that is when every possibly dangerous is history

  • I can't parse that at all.

  • @1RadicalOne no ideal only ppl i see wantin that power is greedy curropted governments

  • While those who want such power are often corrupt, I would not extend that to government. For the most part, very few governments are corrupt.

  • @1RadicalOne no seriously most governements r curropted ppl with power always become curropted

  • Not true at all, and I do not see what makes you think that.

  • La energia de una galaxia en un rayo laser,

    poder ilimitado jajaja

  • hohoho

  • lol of course

Let's do the first test in 2012. :D

  • @TheDarkDuck93 I agree

  • Why do we have to have advertisments in the begining of the video?!

  • Sci Fi Science is my new favorite show.

    and Space Tuesday FTW!
