  • What happened t the weird bit in the middle that is on his album, beyond.??x

  • i love watching his face :D

  • This amazing music is so inspiring!

  • Now I'm ashamed of myself for thinking Asturias would never sound good on anything else than a classical guitar...

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!

  • 5 ppl with no taste

  • you are amazing.....:D...

  • I heard bad note. but, he came back and destoryed that piano of greatness.

  • gosh his hand and arm muscles must be ripped...

  • Grandios!!!!!!

    Friedhelm

  • He's so focused on his music screaming crowds can't even distract this young man, such a difficult piece to play as well! Very impressive.

  • amazing i love it!!!

  • wow he can play really well and he is sorta cute too!!!

  • his shit needs way more views, he's freaking amazing!

  • Even the Great William Joseph slips up sometimes (couple wrong notes :S)....but who am I to judge...the man's a genius!

  • Gawsh how does he move his hands so fast? I can't even just move my hand up and down as fast as he plays O.o

I love his songs, so amazing. Plus, he's pretty cute ;)

  • Wow...

  • he hit about 2 bad notes however, this kid is good. glad I saw him in Burbank.

  • I love William Joesph but I dont like this as much as other pieces of his.

  • amazing...

  • so cooool

  • slow, then EXPLODES!

  • O.M.G!!!!!! I really love him <3!!!!

  • i luuuvv this song.......it definitly goes on my "list of songs to perform b4 i die"....amazing :)

  • my best friend is learning this sone - actually he has finished it. he plays it just about as amazing as William Joseph

  • @feefemonster17 POST IT! I WOULD LOVE TOO SEE THAT!

  • he's so awesome!

  • It shouldn't be legal to play as well as he does!

  • I agree. He not only makes it talk but dance as well. His playing is out of this world. :)

  • @bballwelshy10

...uh, why not? Then we wouldn't be able to listen to it. Think before you speak Fabio (is now your name).

  • I admit that before I heard him sang i wasn;t listening piano music but now i listen his music almost every day. I like it because its modern piano music. Great music. Sory for my bad english

  • You should check out Brian Crain he's just as good as he is.

  • beautiful. no coments.

  • CHILLS.

  • Classical music is classical music. This is modern music, and it is GREAT. Music changes with the times, and so this is reflective of our culture. It is wonderful and shouldn't be regarded as any less important, because it is "modern."

  • i couldnt have said it better myself :)

  • @wwbrittany

Well said. Although I prefer the guitar version, I am not knocking this. It is really well done.

  • @wwbrittany it isnt really modern music...this was written in 1892 by albeniz...we are really far from modern music.....shroenberg music is modern...this is pure traditional music...

  • This is not classical, I believe it's considered contemporary. However you should accept that modern, uneducated society is going to deem it as such and if William's talent gets an individual who otherwise would not listen to a piece such as this.

  • I'm in Hawaii and William just came to my school today!I attended his concert tonight! He's incredible!I remember seeing his fingers moving on the piano keyboards perfectly!Love him!

  • i'm currently learning this piece.

it's great to actually watch and listen to a professional play it.

    whoo william!

  • what level are u in? i wanna learn too

  • I just LOVE William. His talent is truly amazing!!

He's doing a Canadian tour this fall, and he's coming to my town, just 15 minutes from where I live !!!

I'll be there 2nd row centre stage !!

  • did u SEE how fast his hands were moving!

  • and to cavodine...passion, and enthusiasm, are HUGE parts to playing music. If you don't have those, you can't truly be playing the music the way it was meant to be played. And I agree w/ leapinggreenllama...he IS the modern Beethoven! He's amazing, and he is in the category of modern/contemporary, not classical.

  • Oh man. No, he definitely isn't going to be one of the next big composer like Bach or Mozart. I promise. I'd bet everything I own on it.

  • it's more impressive on the guitar because it takes allot more technique to play it on a freestyle stringed instrument, but he sounds great 5/5.

  • I saw him in a concert once and thought he was amazing! At the time, this song wasn't on a cd of his yet. Is it now? What's the name of the cd?

  • the name of his new cd is beyond

  • Thanks!

  • He was on Dr. Phil and played this. He is amazing. His life story is also incredible. He is a wonderful, wonderful person.

  • Just so you know the name of the piece he's playing is called "Asturias" it's track 11 on his new album, you have it labeled wrong.

  • thanks for being the 94th person to point this out. i guess maybe i should change it eventually.

  • LMAO bunglehead

  • oh...my...goodness! That was absolutely AMAZING!!! It's really beyond amazing, I've been playing the piano for 9 years, and I'm not near as good as he is, but I hope to reach that level someday.

  • he is really talented and amazing! cavodine you need a life ok? if you dont like it then why are you watchinig it? let me see you play. for those who watch it and enjoy true classical music william joseph truly thanks you all. His new album is in stores now with this song in it!

  • Make a wish and view my channel!!!

  • this guys must hear really like.... possesed music in his head cause mostly all his songs are dark

  • umm, don't bash his music, unless you can play like that, and his songs are absolutely amazing!!!

  • Umm... btw I'm 14 and I can play his songs...

  • that's AMAZING, especially considering your age, if you've got that kind of talent you should think about actually doing things w/ music...idk if you are, but I'm 16, and I just got his book not to long ago, and I'm working on his songs... =D they're difficult, but going to be completely worth it,

  • it isnt how hard the songs are, i shouldnt have to say what it is about because it should be obvious

  • The title of the song is called Asturias, not asperius.

  • Ew. This guy's a wanker, and he knows it.

  • he's brilliant :D

  • WOW!!!! he is AWESOME!!!! to watch him play the piano is AMAZING he plays like it's second nature ....he is AWESOME!!!!

  • Do you even know anything about the piano... or music?

  • Yes actually I play the piano and sing, I am very passionate about music and I appreciate it when someone shows that they have talent. What exactly do you know about music?

  • Amazingly awesome amounts.

Ok so as not to be a complete troll: I've studied music performance. I was surrounded by amazing musicians for years and I quickly learnt that being flashy isn't a replacement for actual musicality.

Plenty of people are passionate and enthusiastic about certain instruments, genres or music in general. But passion and enthusiasm don't imply a great ability to either perform or comprehend music.

By all means, enjoy this. But there ARE better performers out there.

  • I actually agree with you he is definately NOT my favorite but I do like him and I believe he has talent. And I applaud you on your knowledge

  • No, I don't agree that he's boring, he is so passionate and expressive. When I heard his "Dust in the Wind" (cours Garou is one of mu favourite singers) I was charmed with the music... now I see this boy is reaaly talanted.

  • the comment just before this one is propaganda. beware.

  • He is the best pianist to walk on earth!!!

  • He is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok i love him!! and his music he is totally talented! AWESOME!!

  • This is a very innovative and interesting way of interpreting this piece of music. The orchestral background really gave a furious drive to it, and I was really impressed by the speed that William could hit those high right hand chords! I am currently learning this, and if I had the resources, this is how I'd choose to perform it! lol. Also...triplette, this is a RCM "A.R.C.T." piano piece. So YES, it is actually quite difficult to play.

  • I saw this Wiliam in concert with Il Divo, He was the best part of the show.

  • Holy cow that was awesome. And I almost turned it off after the first 20 seconds

  • I've heard a lot of pianists in my life, including most of the world's greatest classical pianists in live performances, and he is truly unique. He can't be categorized. A true iconoclast. I guess that's why David Foster discovered him and gave him both a recording contract and concert appearances. He is a true discovery! Amazing!

  • Iconoclast?

  • Not only He is a very good pianist, he has great ideas. I like pianists who practically creates something out of what is already a great composition. This piece he is playing is originally a flamenco guitar piece called Asturias (Leyenda) from Suite Espanola. I also recommend his ideas for the song in his album called Eternal which is 95% based on the Chopin etude No. 9. He was able to grasp the musical side of it and easier to "digest" for non classical listeners.

  • wow. this guy is so phoney. just because you can play the same notes really fast doesnt make you good.

  • yeah but you try doing that it looks really hard!!!!!!!!!!

  • just because it's hard for somebody who doesnt play piano doesnt mean it is good.

  • triplette's pretty much right on the money.

  • OMG!!! ur just jealous cuz you cant play piano... I, myself, am a HUGE fan of William Joseph.... hes an awesome piano player..!!

  • OMG!!! ur a total fanboy who assumes shit they have no clue about. assclown. if i was jealous of him because he plays piano that would mean i am jealous of all people who play piano which is not true. for one, i enjoy horowitz. billy joe monkey couldnt handle his left nut.

  • hmm.... you mean YOUR left nut??

I cant believe you like an 80 year old man!!!!

HEY EVERYBODY!!! THIS GIRL HERE LIKES A MAN WHO HAS WRINKLES ALL OVER HIS BODY!! haha...

ok... lets just.. end this... dont reply to this comment...

    b-bye "triplette"!!!

I wish the WORST for you....

    GO TO HELL!

  • wow, so hateful and stupid. that's a scarey combination. seems like somebody has a crush on billy jo. no, i meant willy jojo couldnt handle horowitz's left nut and i wasnt being literal, moron. bill joseph, the poser with two first names, will never be as respected as vladimir horowitz. if you try and argue that nobody will ever take you seriously because you're a total apologetic fanboy.

  • hmm.. its a good thing I didnt understand what you said... hmm..... I dont think its because I'm stupid.. I believe its because of BAD GRAMMAR!! wow!!!! he has 2 first names!!!??!?! OMG!!! HOW.... NEW? your the moron!!! stupid!!!! I have 2 first name too!! whats apologetic anyway? hmm... must be a word your parents invented... with no meaning.... and as stupid as your parents...

  • nevermind. i dont try and sit my irrational dog down and try and reason with him, i shouldnt bother with you either, fanboy.

  • uhh... well... I do try and sit my irrational dog down and try and reason with him...

OMG!!! THX!!!! you dont know how much that means to me!!! :P

    b-bye stupid!

  • OMG!!! ur a total fanboy who assumes shit they have no clue about. assclown. if i was jealous of him because he plays piano that would mean i am jealous of all people who play piano which is not true. for one, i enjoy horowitz. billy joe monkey couldnt handle his left nut.

  • why did you post this 2 times stupid??

  • Sure, he is no Horowitz or Gould, but he isn't trying to be. He is doing his own thing because there is obviously a market for it. Please keep your negativity to yourself. It is people like you, with your condescending attitude towards other's musical taste, who contribute to the stereotype that classical music and those who like it are stuck up and cold. I bet Joseph's hybrid style has helped a number of people learn to appreciate classical music who would normally not give it a chance.

  • his "own thing" is boring, imo.

  • what is your seemingly personal vendetta against this guy? jeez. did he run over your puppy or something? ive had these videos up for a couple of years now, and it seems like every few months you show up with your negative comments. we get it, you dont like it. get over it.

  • sorry. it's nothing personal. just replying to the comments posted about my comment. i give joseph williams no thought outside of these posts.

  • if that were the case, you'd let it go. you're obsessed with this guy. it's becoming creepy.

  • huh? what did i say about him last post? i was only responding to your post about me always responding. i dont know if your set up is like this... but whenever somebody replies to a comment i make i get an email notifying me that such an event has occured. so i click on the link and it's right there. and i spend 30 seconds responding. i dont make very many comments on youtube but when somebody wants to refute my point, i have a natural tendency to want to defend myself.

  • what's with you replying to my comments? it's like your obsessed with me. scarey. the worst part of repyling to these dopey posts is having to hear mr. joseph play that garbage. pause.

  • it's the fact that you keep appearing in all of my videos.

  • OMG! your still here? stop commenting!

  • You're talking about him like he's some wondrous ambassador for classical music. If people think what he's doing is actually representative of classical music, "hybrid" or not, they're severely misguided. He's making pop music, pure and simple.

He's using gimmicks to be marketable. There's no nuance in his playing, no depth of expression. Just lots of fancy lights and flamboyant gestures.

  • lmaooo and just when I thought I was beginning to like "classical music" u tell me its not. oh well. This is much better in so many ways =3

  • You know what Cavodine? You're right. You are so much better than he! I'm sure that you play much better than he does. JKJK How about you try and be happy for other people's accomplishments and go judge something stupid like American Idol!

  • i can play this on the guitar and the piano, it's not that difficult of a peace what makes him sound so impressive is the backup musicians on the cellos and violins

  • i play piano as well and although i would be able to play this song i couldnt play is flawless like this fella. but ya thats true if he were to play it without the back up it wouldnt sound as impressive

  • Right.

I never said I was better. I don't even play piano. But based on what I've seen of him, I have no hesitation in saying I'm a better musician than he is and that he isn't anywhere near the big league of classical pianists. He's not even playing classical music! It's his _musicianship_ I was criticising in the first place. I hope that make sense to you.

And sure, if he's doing something that makes him happy, more power to him, just as long as he's not posing as a "classical" musician.

  • you don't have to be classical to have good musicianship. i'm a classical pianist, singer, and violinist myself, but i had to accept a long time ago that other types of music can be perfectly artistic as well. this is contemporary music,so of course it's not like beethoven or chopin, and shouldn't be played as such. what of the great contemporary composers like prokofiev? does their music require less musicianship than the more traditional composers'? no, it doesn't- it's just a different style.

  • of course, that's not to say i'm comparing him with prokofiev; he certainly hasn't hit that level, but he does deserve plenty of respect as a musicican.

  • I can respect that he might enjoy playing the music he likes to an audience but that's as far as I'd go.

Music being contemporary doesn't mean it should lack depth. I keep saying this is all show. The music itself isn't very interesting when compared to what else is out there.

I never meant to imply that you had to be a classical muso to have good musicianship - you're right, you don't. I was trying to douse the idea that what Joseph was playing was classical, because it's not.

  • OMG!! That is so awesome. Look at his fingers go!

    TTFN

  • the song he's playing is called leyenda not ausperius

  • Just FYI, the song he is performing is called "ASTURIAS." Thanks for posting!

  • ok, william is definitely THE piano player of the century. Does he have rubber fingers, or what?!? Absolutely amazing. Love this video!!!

  • haha... best pianist of the century... that is a funny joke.

  • Wow! Amazing! William Joseph is such a fantastic piano player!

  • William is amazing..i love this song! He is gorgeous too :P

  • I saw William Joseph in concert with Il Divo in Halifax,Nova Scotia and what a truly awesome way to open an awesome concert..hes brilliant!!

  • The kid is good. He'll be touring Australia with Il Divo in March.

  • first time saw him with il divo in april 2007 here in montreal and he was awesome, awesome!! i even got an autograph and had a good time talking with him!! he's so humble and of course very talented! God bless him

    vanda

  • he is absolutely awesome!

  • Sick... sounds like Bolero - By Joe Hisaishi and Ravel? No?

    Great though! Love it!

  • This is guy is AMAZING!! Love this song!

  • i love you William!!!! I'm gonna marry you someday! (..dream on..)

  • Isn't he already married? With kids? Oh well... he's an amazing pianist, though. Someday, I'll be as good as him... wait, that's probably impossible, too... darn.
