  • What engine was this?

  • i have a question. Would a laptop with intel core i7 and intel hd graphics 3000 render 3d models better than a laptop with intel core i3 and a nvdidia gt 540m videocard?

  • @vanzan102 probably. most renderers use cpu not gpu

  • Reminds me of Baten Kaitos

  • Good video man, fantastic modelling and environment concept. I would say that may when the dragon flaps his wings the flags and clothing of the women would move when the force of the wind hits them? and maybe the dragon could use a lil more facial movement if you know what i mean? Not saying to take the piss or anything lol good video man seriously.

  • Whats the Differences between 3-D Modeling / Animation and Game Simulation Programing??

  • Very cool

  • Hello Word!

  • How did you show only some parts polygons and not the entire?

Did you record one high quality clip and then one clip that shows only the polygons, and then put them together in premiere/AE?

  • so do you learn animation, modeling and visual effects by taking the one 3d animation program??

  • how do you create the wireframe thing like when showing the dragon??

  • Fuck this school full of hackers

  • You would think with such high rez models you'd atleast show this at 720p if not 1080p ESPECIALLY coming out of Vancouver "FILM" school.

  • @ElectrofilmsENT vanwho?

  • @peggyninja Vancouver, it's a city in which the film school the artist attended is located.

  • @ElectrofilmsENT since you don't seem to know anything about cgi, why do you whine?

has it ever occured to you that highquality work takes a little time to render? no?

well then i'll tell you, to render this a full HD resolution you'd probably need half a year without a renderfarm.

i do agree with you however that it is sad that VFS only uploads such a low res, even tho some reels actually are rendered in 720p.

  • @h0ktar Really? How about you come take a look at my channel before you make defaming accusations upon ridiculously exaggerated statements. And yes, in my 7+ years of animation experience, (5 specializing in rendering upwards of 1080P [ 2K]), I sure as hell know that rendering takes time. BUT, I'm sure you also know that render time pales in comparison to the time it takes to model, light and texture a scene. So if you're investing that amount of time in the first place, why not show it off? :)

  • @ElectrofilmsENT It was probably rendered in 1080p, but down-rezzed for Youtube, because this was in 2007.

  • looks like a new online game) awesome work!

  • very nice work man .. keep up the good work .. :)

  • animatio nwas horrible

  • This is outstanding, lovely work Rmanot, I Hope at be at this level in a few yrs. keep making epic work. Love the dragon. That is too cool.

  • Which program was used ?

  • Amazing. Hopefully I can be at this level in 5 years time

  • wow..

  • LAWLS for the WOWness...AMAZING though

  • oh mah gawd!!! UR AWSUM! :D

  • :O amazing

  • Insane well done

  • Love the Tolkein style map

  • OfUnreasonable be quiet, yes i will admit the two points you made are extremely similar to other games but guess what, almost all fantasy games/videos mimic each other to some degree. Ideas are formed off of other works in reality, just some people take those ideas and work off of it to make it better or different. This person maybe saw the 2 situations and wanted to see if he could do better im assuming, or maybe hes never seen either of them and he just had the idea, it can happen

  • Balcony Dragon scene: Final Fantasy V

Elvish Summoner w/ Serpent: World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade

    Can someone say 'sue?'

    :p

  • What software was used to make that cinematic?

    Please could someone say.

  • ของพี่ที่ลงหนังสือ ImagineFX

    สุดยอดมากเลยครับผมอยากทำได้บ้างจังแต่คงต้องขยันยิ่งกว่านี้

  • FANTASTIC. The only thing that bugged me was the dragon's animation and camera angles came across as a bit undramatic and boring, but damned straight the level of detail here is epic.

  • Hm... I wonder what program he/she used....

  • final fantasy all over this piece

  • @yratof more like wow blood elf

  • @iShowUFun well i don't know, it's got FF13 written all over that dragon

  • @yratof yeah i must agree about that but just look 1:48 ;)

  • This is awesome man..........

  • who is this 4% people

  • Great 3D modeling and rigging and lighting, great work!

  • one of the best VFS reels, Much respects

  • Awsum reel. Really nice attention to details, and overall just great. Sweet breakdowns and wire-show. You making a reel? This is the way to do it IMO.

  • ชอบงานพี่มากคับบ ผมก็ฝันแบบพี่เหมือน ซักวันผมต้องไปเปนแบบพี่ให้ได้คับ

  • Good work but.... boooring!

  • great! looks like inspired by RF game

  • Blood Elf from WoW =)

  • wow :O

  • Awesome reel man! I'mma passing it to all my friends now lol. Animation can use some more refining, but the models are great! 8D [which is the whole point XD] It's way more epic that what I can do though, so I don't have the right to nitpick. It's awesome~

  • wah standard FInal Fantasy

  • Pre-rendered in 2007, realtime in 2010? I think CGI has come a long way in the past years, this just shows how much. I think that with current shader + tessellation techniques something like this could be done in realtime redering. The wait is just for the gaming industry to make it happen..., (cool scene anyways!)

  • the head looks like it had some references from bahamut in ff ac

  • ***** FO YOU 5 STAR

  • wooow niice :P how long did it take to make all that? including the rendering :)

  • Great work! Respects man!

To all 3D community: Stop doing dragons in 3D do something else - I think is time for a change, thanks :)

  • @bre4k00 man its a modeling reel and a greate reel if you whant to see new concepts, see the works of some concept artist. and yes have a lot of dragons but most part of the dagons dont have this quality i love see this dragon this one is diferent and the artist do a greate modeling.

  • @bre4k00 In response, everyone should do as much fucking dragons as they damn well please. Ignore boss nigger over here and just enjoy your cyber clay. Peace!

  • @Toughnuffet

ok i'm black and i LOVE DRAGONS I have even modeled one for my reel. check out my page. so I take offense to the nigger word.

  • @wind27382 I took 'offense' when I heard my mother getting fucked by a rapist, don't see me giving a shit anymore.

  • @Toughnuffet

than i will apologize I only got you using racial slurs. even though you could have used another insult i will leave you alone.

  • @Toughnuffet

What does that have to do with him?

Sucks what happened, but don't take that shit out on others.

  • @xalener I can't stop masturbating.

  • @Toughnuffet

    Then don't.

  • @xalener Don't look, when I cum it's gonna be blood.

  • @Toughnuffet

    You probably deserve it.

  • @Toughnuffet

    Also, boodlers.

  • great work***************

  • realy realy good just needs sound efects

  • So how long did it take you to render this??? poly counts are large here... love it tho... 5/5 and added to my favs... can u tell me your render times plz??? and the hardware specs to know if mine can handle this level of detail... i guess the main limitation to my skills is poli-counts... i try to keep them low... am working on a human warrior now... so far so good... but never as good as yours...

  • gr8 work dude appreciate it

  • play less videogames, do more work.

Videogames seem to be the thing tying down most students pursuing a career in a videogame field.

You need to play them to know what's out there, but you need to hone your skills in maya a LOT more. The thing a lot of people don't realize is that you need to live in maya/3ds max if you want to get a job.

  • What studio do you work for? Exactly so dont make things up. Maya and 3dsmax are used alot yes but are not required and certianly wont land you a job easier just because you know them. Ive used modo, blender, maya, 3ds max and xsi. And to be honest their all the same and take less than 5 minutes to export to each other without error.Teams are focused on how efficient you are not what software you use.If you want to get into the busness start modding games because its the same type of workflow.

  • do u do CG? i'm a 23yr old computer engineer and i've been using maya for about a year and a half now, and i'm really getting obsessed with it. CG is not popular in africa where i live, but i'm still in love with it. i've even started getting jobs like creating montages for shows etc.

  • amazing this is what i want to do for a living... but im only just starting out now with horrid models of castle.. that are one colour :P this is amazing

  • OH MY GOD. O__O ♥

  • Amazing stuff. True inspiration. The only thing that I'm wondering about is the poly count on the models, especially the dragon. The wireframe looked like the poly count could be very very high. Was it not possible to get similar results with lower polys and the displacement? Or were all the polys in the wingspan needed for the animation? Just curious.

  • omfg thats just mind blowing

  • para mi es perfecto!!!!!11

  • incredible

do you know of any easy to use animation programs i can use? I would love to at least try and make stuff like this

  • Blender

    3DS Max

    Maya

    Lightwave

    Anim8or

  • thanks

  • No Problem

  • How does VFS work? students input on each others' reel?

who did those scripting and dynamics? and who animated them? are they your classmates? are they doing it just to help out? Thanks.

  • really beautiful! You have inspired me to model a "shadow of colossus/ panzer dragoon orta/ howl's moving castle" style creature. Really impressive, You should have absolutely no trouble finding work!!

  • first of all" great work"..... i have been using 3ds max for over a year...... can i make models like this in 3ds max....... any tips for a good modeling artist..........

  • yeah, but it wil be a hell of a lot easyer if you combine max with zbrush, photoshop and other modeling\ animaton programs

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuckn insane. love the colours

  • very nice, is it just me or does the elf princess remind u of the blood elf and the mana wrym in BC lol, and it looks like the dragon has been influenced by the behemoth in FF7 advent children

  • That dragon did the same thing to me! I had to get the movie to make sure It wasnt it!

  • nice work, had a look a while ago at the VSF site but their fees for international students made me run a mile away.

  • this blows me away, check my work out if u want too, Im still practicing :D

  • great work! but the dragon moves kinda static..

  • that was oresum :D

you know, in final fantasy X (or 10) was exactly the same animation oO

    no offence but...yeah...

  • do you have a link of that :D?

  • WOW! AMAZING! how long did it take to make?

  • can i ask how old r u???

  • holy shit

  • Can I ask how you did the rope's swinging movement? It looks incredibly realistic.

  • Holy sh!t. That's good!

  • wow thats a huge work, i would like to know how to combine wireframe in such way

  • do multiple renders of the vid, and combine them in a video editing software

  • Amaziiiing

  • awsome, maybe could have added more detail work to the dress. not sure if you used syflex for cloth though.

  • very nice, I love the textures and the animation!

as a side note, when the elf girl pats the dragons head in the beginning it looks like in ffX when yuna summons valefor :D.

  • That's because it's just a show reel, I suppose. The clip is meant to show just the design.

  • the elf reminds me of zelda. The environment was nice and i like how the fabric moves at the beginning

  • Yeah she does seem similar to the BC belf, but besides that fact- OUTSTANDING work. In love with all the detail etc.

  • gtfo wow player

  • lol.

  • im guessing she got the idea of that chick from the burning crusade cinematic

  • what software did you use?

  • he says in the end: maya, xsi and zbrush

  • tnx

  • Amazing work, i myself am a 3d modeler, for my final project im hoping to delve into world of 3d characters, any tips? thanks!!!! 100% awesome!!!

  • Looks liek she used Zbrush then import it into a 3D Software as a OBJ, then edited the model to move.

  • nice work, but scene is from final fantasy 10.

    Luna and her bestia.

  • yes but this is not from final fantasy 10

  • omg omg omg ,... beautiful still student ?? omg ... inspiring =)

  • God damn amazing! When can I become this good... lolz~

  • holy shit, thats incredible

  • I'd love to be able to do such a great work !

  • That was one of the most amazing animations ever. The weight of the dress looked wrong. It swung too far out but it was good other than that.

  • wow no coment regalia for u man!!

  • Great Job, your work is on par with Sqaure Enix...

The more I see from VFS, the more I wish I could afford to go...

  • OMG!! you are my new idol...do you have a web site to see more?

  • Amazing, keep up the good work!

  • I'm not a techie but I enjoyed watching the reel, thanks

  • Wow! That's the best 3D animation I've seen from VFS and it's ironic that it's a modeling reel.

  • the dragon looks lik ff7 advent children bahamut..but tis one skinny^^...

  • that's so awesome it really moved me!

  • I love VFS, and I'm gonna get as good as them so that I can make my own movies lol, check my account out if u do, I'm getting better all the time, and I actually know some pretty intermediate modeling already :P

  • I REALY WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DO ALL THIS

  • me too =(

  • *drool*

  • that must be her boyfriend!

  • If I wanted to do something like this should I take art classes or a sort of tech class??

  • get good at drawing as thats a fundamental principal. then learn to use tools such as xsi and zbrush. im studying 3d modelling and this just scares me lol

  • ty I'm researching alot on this stuff, my drawing sucks I gotta take art classes lol

  • That's Bahamut. Great Reconstruction.

  • 5 more Stars from me. Looke so f**kin awsome!

  • woaw, that's really awesome work dude !!! hope to see more of you!

can you tell me the name of the song plz?

  • your modelling is very good. Work on the animation though. Her hand moements and head movements are very jerky. Smooth it out.

  • shut up and do it better rude Bastard!

  • I hardly see how constructive criticism is bad or rude. The modelling is indeed very good and since its a modelling reel thats what matters, but the animation is a little jerky and that will show. Its just advice thats all

  • I have to agree with DagMX. some animation is abit jerky. I surposse how you worded your first post could come across as rude but not as rude as alogi makes out. But like DagMX said. Constructive critism isn't bad. Its what helps people develope and improve there skills

  • i wanna kill u after i watch ur clip...

  • Rip off, schmipp off... Who the hell cares? This is awesome work. 5 -stars

  • muito bom!!! parabens!

  • Fan of blizzard CG? :P... the intro and the girl with the dragon in hand reminds me of WOW intro

  • Shame you didnt represent yourself with your own style, not a complete japanese rip off !

  • damn thats nice

  • Look real good...

  • Awesome work!:)
