  • Not bad, kid. You really got that left hand jumpin', just like the old boys. Really enjoyable.

  • hey justin! just wanted to give you cudos! this is real great, coming from someone who's been playing since she was seven. I'd be VERY proud! And you're right in your response to menkejo-- that's a VERY sophisticated take and I respect you for that. Keep up the great work! You're inspiring ME to make my own piano arrangement of this!

  • spot on

  • Incredible.

  • Man! You should be rightly proud of your achievement in this! It is fantastic! I've been a fan of the original 1927 Ellington recording, and I thought "How is this kid gonna pull this off?" Turns out, "Amazingly, that's how! Congratulations!

  • @redhairedlad very true

  • Impressive job! You are really good!

  • This is friggin' cool. You've done a good take.

  • Sheet music Please!!!!!!!!!

  • fucking awesome dude!

  • as someone who can't transcribe worth a shit, is it possible to get the sheet music from you?? i can't find a good arrangement anywhere.

  • @Rejnations, This is my arrangement that took me quite a bit of time to write out. It's written out in pencil however. I could send it your way for a price if you don't mind.

  • @JaYSpRE2007 , Great arrangement. How much effort you spent! I am ready to pay you to get the score, if you don't mind. Please let me know how to contact you.

  • Could you upload your older rendition? It's always nice comparing the changed styles with one another; while you may have thought playing it too fast made it lose its clarity and focus, I'd like to digress in saying that it doesn't matter at what tempo you play at, a musician as an artist can quite quite critical of his work, but as long as there's always an audience who can appreciate the music in different styles, the real message just enhances the experience, I think.

  • This is a much better version with a more manageable tempo. It has better feel. Great job!

  • sweet thats really impressive!

  • I'm trying to learn this for class and I find the fact someone can actually play it both intimidating and relieving.

    Amazing work.

  • Sei proprio in gamba. Ti scrivo in italiano perchè non saprei come dirlo meglio in un'altra lingua. Spero che tu mi capisca!

  • good work mate!

  • Unbelievable.

  • Dude your incredible! I'd love to hear what you could do with Emerson, Lake & Palmer tunes. You should listen to Karn Evil 9 - 2nd imp. Pts. 2 & 3 and try that out for size. I'd bet with your talent you could pull it off. Keep posting your great tunes! Wish I had your voice and skills. You got my support. Take care and thanks for all the great tunes I've been enjoying by you.

  • this is great! amazing..could u post the chords if you get the time? once again great job!!

  • dude , this is incredible! what are the chords at the beginning? i gotta learn this!

  • just kidding ... any major dude with half a heart would tell you it was a great job!!

  • Heh thanks. Like the comment. Nice, nice, very nice.

  • I can hear your dentures clicking

  • WHY DID YOU REPLACE YOUR OTHER VERSION WITH THIS ONE!!!!!! i'm so disappointed.... I enjoyed the other so much

  • The other video I had up was just awful. The tempo was way too fast. When a song, especially such as this one, is too fast, it loses it's clarity or its message. It's not how fast you can play something to make it look prestigious. It's getting the musical idea across. That's why I was disappointed with it...

  • exelente!!! bravo

  • A pleasure to listen to, as always. I know you do some Billy Joel - ever think of doing any Elton John?

  • Tks Jay for the music ! Hope to hear a cover of the track Here at the western world ;)

And where´s the gong ? ;) ha ha ha ...

  • Lol!!

Thanks, possibly Here At The Western World, yes.

  • amaziling talented i would put an exclamation point but i cant find it.

  • you need a Steinway bro! nice work.

  • Hell yeah, that would be the day. Thanks!

    alex

  • woo! new video!

  • Thanks, all... I'm planning a few new videos this week. Some might be redos of my older covers and some new.

  • We're all lookin forward to them man :P

  • Wanna run away with me? :D

    Seriously though, beautiful, as always!

  • I could defiantly tell by your vocals in this piece you were trying to sound more Walter Beckerish.

  • You cracked the code, and you knew what it's all about...

  • great transposition job man

  • Awesome Jay! So friggin talented man :)

  • Really nice job Jay. A great stride piano piece.

  • Very good as usual Jay. I saw that you paused a couple times but that happens. I like your version the best I have to say...and well Dan's also as you know.

  • Yeah, I tried to be Mr. Perfectionist for this one. But once I had this take, I knew I had to settle. My last cover of this was just awful in my opinion. I needed a redo.

  • Eh, with music it's always about perfection. I'll bet even Alan Parson is uneasy about some of his songs the way they turned out. But no matter still excellent.

  • Fantastic, as usual. I'm jealous...

  • Very nicely done!
