It's not the baby that wants it's ears pierced, it's the parents.

i got my first holes at icing. i had two people do it at the same time. one of them was fine, but with the other, the gun got stuck! omg it hurt. i got the first holes done when i was i think 8 or 9? idk

yea i was afraid too. and to tell you the truth, it does hurt, but not a lot. if you ever got the lower area pierced, it hurts like twice tht much, but its def worth it! you should do it!!! and dont be scared! i didnt even cringe so you'll b fine!

The healing time for cartilage piercings are more than the 6-8 weeks recommended for lobes. Claire's suggest that you do not remove the earrings for 12 weeks. Removing the earring so early probably means your hole could well have closed up already.

I got my ears pierced when I was 5 with a gun. I've never had a problem. My now 6 y/o daughter had hers pierced when she was 1 again, with a gun..never had a problem

Yesterday i had my cartilage pierced at Claires with a gun. Nothin, no cracked catlilage or anythin. iits still a bit sore, even tho im cleaniing it like 5-6 times a day with the claires stuff but used TCP a while ago, and i stings quite alot, after using it i red TCP can stop it healin properly and make it very painful, should i worry? x

guns are terrible, especially at Claire's. Regardless of what anyone says, guns can NOT be 100% sanitized, and you're basically forcing a blunt object through your ear. Needles are 10x safer because they're sharp and they're only good for one piercing ONLY. Take my advice from experience; no cartilage piercings from a gun! it shatters your cartilage!!

Everyone has their opinions, Guns vs. Needles..., whatever. If the person who wants the piercing is comfortable with who is doing it, how it's being done and confident they can properly take care of it, it's cool and that's their choice. MOST infections are a direct result of improperly handling / cleaning your piercing, or not cleaning it at all. I had my cartilage pierced 8 years ago at Claire's with a GUN and it's great. had no problems with it and I still have it today!

Yeah everyone has this big problem with getting it done at claire's but we pierce with the actual sterilised earring which comes in a sterilised pack, in it's own cartridge, which we just load into the clean gun. We use gloves which we sterilise and everything is cleaned before and after and we have to adhere to prretty strict governemt health and saftey guidelines to be allowed to do it.

No we don't have an autoclave because we don't need one, the gun never touches the ear. We know the risk of infection if any pathogens enter the ear which is why we clean everything and the earring comes in its own sterile packet, which has been autoclaved.Most infections are caused by improper cleaning after the piercing.

actually, theres nothing wrong with getting your ears pierced at claires.

[even though we clean the gun with an antiseptic wipe before piercing] the earring never even touches the gun anyway, and is in a sterlised package until the piercing is ready, so theres absolutely nothing wrong there.

we wouldnt have a licence if it wasn't done properly.

I have been pierced at Claires 3 times now. yes, the first time my ears did get infected, but that was MY fault because i didn't know that I am allergic to nickel. now i only wear nickel free earrings and have had NO problem this time. about 14 or 15 weeks ago i had my cartlidge pierced at Claires and have yet to have a problem.

You can get an infection from getting your ear pierced anywhere. How your body reacts to certain metals and how rigorous you are with cleaning the piercing are the main reasons for problems - not the shop where you got the piercing done. If the piercing at Claire's was so bad, they would not be allowed to do it.
