  • ....ducks?

  • 0:40

    That's alot of God's! :O

  • that's awesome check out mine gu

  • Comment removed

  • awesome!

  • what the FUCK!!! AWESOME!!

  • What kind of guitar does he play? Is it an ibanez?

  • ibanez 1979 (i think) rocket roll.

  • It's always, an Ibanez, isn't it?

  • his latest signature is the Ibanez Fireman isnt? besides que has the other to PGs? am i right??

  • only the best.

  • fuckin rank cunt aye

  • in a good way

  • nope, he likes gibsons too

  • he s my inspiration

  • THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! ahahah

  • he's doing it with himself! lol!

  • Good god. He has got to be a robot.

  • that is such a fine guitar, i would kill for an Ibanez rocket roll!

  • Molto Montruoso!!

  • i would crawl 10 miles overbroken glass just to stick match sticks in his poo. Awsome.

  • he s really having fun

  • Not just fun. Looks like he's having an orgasm.

  • intense

  • paul has more speed and technic but BH got alot of great songs even more than paul, so it depends if you more into tech and speed or the sound.

for me i go with the sound so buckethead

  • SUPERP !

  • master!!!

  • Paul Just shred my face off!!! =D

  • Pure master! Paul is also a great Teacher!!

  • whats with the headphones?

  • He's started to lose his hearing, apparently. So they're for "protection"

  • so he can hear what he's playing the amps in the back might be to loud for him to follow thats all.

  • Nah it's, "Man he Shreds"

  • Man he's skilled!

  • Is he using a Flying V?

that's wierd, like in that string skipping lesson when he uses an explorer, i'm going to get his signature ibanez, so sexy, but i would prefer that red version.

anyways wow! love this song, just like every other song by Paul gilbert, he has to be a god, or some kind of superhuman.

  • That's not a Flying V, and if you're refering to the same string skipping lesso that I've seen, that's also not an Explorer. Gibson Flying V's have headstocks with three tuners on top and three on the bottom, this is probably an Ibanez and has all six on the top. Also, the one in the string skipping lesson has a little cut out section in the bottom that the Explorer doesn't have. These are just a couple of Ibanez knock offs of Gibsons. But no matter what he plays, he's pretty awesome.

  • I was refering to the shape.

  • I'm just sayin, the shape doesn't make the guitar, if you don't believe that, play a cheap jackson v shaped guitar and then play a Gibson Flying V. There's a major difference.

  • you should have named yourself guitarmaniac08

  • There more than just nock offs dude. Its an Ibanez Rocket roll, sure it was Ibanez's take on the Flying V, but its an extremely high quality instrament !! Buckethead also uses one for melodic solos, check out interworld and the new inocence.

  • @mattacuk the one buckethead uses for that was actually given to him by Gilbert.

  • @MrShredtilldead interesting. Well Im going to go and play on my own RR400 now :O)

  • Think so, this is pre G3

  • Gilbert is awesome!

  • One of my favorites...

  • Paul's biggest influences were eddie van, sheehan(talas) and Yngwie...

    viking kong is no accident...

  • 00:40 Thats a real facemelter

  • He dresses like a astronaut because he's out of this world, there are you happy now. Good now listen to the music.

  • lol that really sounds like "I'm a viking" by Yngwie malmsteen...

  • yngwie was supposed to play on it

  • are you fuckin shittin me dude?

  • Pauls fast picking and string skipping is every metal guitarist dream! PAUL RULEZZZ!!

  • I love viking kong ...Paul Gilbert is the best ...;)

  • Paul Gilbert TAUGHT BucketHead fool.

  • When the hell did looks ever matter?

  • When crappy music began playing on MTV.

  • ^^ Lmao

  • Your joking me. Buckethead teach Paul what to look like? Buckethead wears a fuckin bucket over his head because hes probably so damn ugly when he plays

  • Let's all forget what I said. Let's just listen to his music....

  • lol, no.

  • Write something better and post the vid.

  • Sorry, I wasn't talking about the video. I was replying to someone on here. It hasn't went under their post yet.

  • Ooooh.. Either has my comment lol

  • Only a faggot would be concerned how another guy looked rather than his skill at guitar. stop watching these videos to check guys out. They will not take off their shirt for you.

  • Wow that was uncreative. Yet you're the one being condescending.

  • i love pg. especially the time he garroted kenny g with a low e-string. or did i dream that?

  • No, he probably did that..heck, he played a shred-metal version of a Paula Abdul song!

  • This is why Paul is great not only fantastic at guitar but with a great sense of humour poking fun at that large swedish ape.

  • large swedish ape?

OH! I get it... that guy with the weird name... gotcha.

  • What is he doing at 1:38 someone please tell me.

  • a mixture of sweepign and alt pick loads of pentatonics same notes on each string to get that weird 'non music' sort of sound. theres a guy in 'betcha cant play this' who does it, search it on youtube ;)

  • string skipping :o

  • its string skipping in pentatonics. ex. 12 14 17 on the g string to 12 15 17 on the e string

  • What is 12 14 17, 12 15 17?

  • it so lol he,s even faster then yngwie he,s a freaking god.

  • i ve just creamed my pants

  • Paul Gilbert is my favourit guitarist he is amazing

  • Some sitar players and classical guitarists play with similar speed.

  • Lol guitargasm much?

  • lmao

  • gotta love that guitar face

  • actually a 'natural' harmonic uses the open position as an anchor , so if you move both tapped fret and anchor note, you operate on the same principle- try a capo, for instance.

It is distinguished by being a different sound- an open string will not sound the same as a fretted note, even with harmonics. It's why octave pedals don't sound exactly 8 notes above; the Whammy and the like make 'open' string noises .

  • no joke....don't fight, enjoy how PG lays everyone to waiste in this video.

  • its really funny how stressed out people can get over a little comment

  • It's not a natural harmonic. It's artificial.

  • I know what i'm talking about too :P

but I was so lazy yesterday that I didn't even watch 10 seconds of the video...

  • Love this song... who's the bassist with the rickenbacker?

  • that's Linus of Hollywood

  • what you do is hold any note, and tap the fret 5,7,12 frets away from it. Its just a tap harmonic

  • how does he do the harmonics with his fingeer! .. i cant do that!!!

    somebody tell me!

  • on the note he hold, you tap 12 frets above it...it was so cool and logical when i first found out how to do it (remember 12 each octave)

  • yeah, it's called an artificial harmonic, just to help you describe it a little better. :)

  • * Natural

  • no, natural is when you pick the note with your finger is resting lightly so you get the same pitch (for example, a ) but in different octaves.

artificial allows you to get harmonics of tons of different notes.

i know what I'm talking about.

    it's an artificial harmonic

  • umm no you don't lol

  • ummmm, yeah i do lol.

    look it up.

  • in my guitar book, ok ha ha

    ;)

  • book's gotta be wrng.

a 12 fret tap is artificial.

    use wikipedia. seriously.

not, if you hit the string AT the 12th fret, that's a natural harmonic.

but if you pick a nite at say the 3rd fret and then tap your finger on the 15th to get a higher sound of the same note, it's artificial.

    research it.

  • k

    wikipedia

    srsly

  • no u ;-;

  • It's a little greyer than that. While it may be an "artificial" harmonic, it's really the exact same principle as a natural harmonic. With a natural harmonic, it's merely than the open string is the root. If you fret the 1st, and use the 13th fret for the harmonic, it's the same thing, just with a different pitch.

For that reason, they're generally called tap harmonics to distinguish them in a technical sense from natural harmonics.

  • i agree, it's really just in a name. but you get what I'm saying. it's the same principle, but it isn't the same THING.

but i agree. i was always taught it was "artifical" but i see you know what I'm getting at. thanks.

if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? works the same way.

  • its a natural harmnic and a artifical harmonic technicly but most people class them as tapped harmonics

  • some parts of his solo's (most) are really clasically influenced

  • Muy buen guitarrista... tira a la bosta a el guitarrista de rata blanca :D

  • dont compare they both good

  • good solo bad recording

  • LOL. cool vid

  • Este hombre es de este mundo!!!???

    ES INCREIBLEEEE!!!!!

  • The video edit of this is soooo lame & annoying!

    :¬(

  • Honest guys I have been playing guitar since for almost 20 years. the first 10 playing 6 to 8 hours a day, and used to hate Paul Gilbert and never gave him a chance. Loved Vai, Becker, Malmsteen etc. and covered all there tunes, but Gilbert truely is amazing, has range that none of them have. The guys is in my opinon the best player out today PERIOD!!

  • Petrucci competes pretty well with Gilbert, both of them has that enourmes gift of being able to play any kind of music just like that. I think Petrucci even beats Gilbert when it comes to techniques and equals him in musicality, but Gilbert has that perfect stroke that makes the guitar sing so beautyfull.

  • This man is a fucking legend!

  • i know paul has lost some of his hearing...man he needs to get rid of the headphone crap maybe wear some earplugs..and the f--king space suit looks like star trek!!

  • Maybe Paul has Aperger's Syndrome and hence no sense of style.

  • Oi u cunt theres nothing wrong with a s. He probably has more style than you.

  • and bruce almighty pauls forever band mate.

  • Over rated if u ask me

  • lol overrated? hah.

  • any particuar reason why??

  • gozus, yes because in the video he seems to be executing technical exercises

  • you talk shit, noone asked you

  • is it true that yngwie malmsteen had a solo spot on this song and he rejected the offer from paul gilbert??

  • it must be really depressing being his band mates,.

  • Wow...

  • btw via and satch take themselves to seriously

  • Yep!

  • hahahahaha his facial expressions are like a kid with downsyndrome, gotta love'em

  • What can you say, he is one bad "Dude"

  • Was that fucker just alternate picking sweep arpeggios? DAMNDAMNDAMNDAMN!

  • wow he's ultra fast

  • (Paul Gilbert is amazing. He kicks Vai and Satches ass.)definately not vai ,satriani ,and paul gilbert have totally different types of music and i like them all but you cant judge who is the best because they are all the best!

  • Paul is the best, the fastest, his music is out of this world and his picking... theres no words for that.

  • Yea... Rich Ward is really good for a Zakk Wylde wannabe. Paul has him on a leash no doubt.

  • Paul is rediculously fast with the scales and picking patters that he can play. for sure, he is good. I think he can stand to "slow down" a bit but he seems to be a down to earth player without an ego. His instructionals are great too. I really like how he plays classic classical tunes by Motzart and other composers like him. Also, he plays note per note live like his stuff on albums, from what I've seen so far.

  • Why are you checking this out then dipshit?!

I checked out your RICH WARD. Rich Ward blows almost as much as you.

Take yet another hit and enjoy fool!

  • Bongpack420: I would take another hit if I were you. Sit back and enjoy something that could not muster ever! Bongpack420...what a monkey!

  • nerd

  • Paul Gilbert is amazing. He kicks Vai and Satches ass.

  • Paul Gilbert owns all!!! THE metal guitar prodigy of our time.

  • stfu you obviously know nothing if you think that. He would fucking pwn you in guitar faggot

  • Bongback comete una polla hijo de la gran puta arderas en el puto subsuelo del averno por decir eso del DIOS

  • Can you do better?

  • yea and its kind of like star wars but its called Guitar Wars and the dark side is like steve vai, buckethead, toni iommi, and like dave mustaine and the theres the good which is like evh, brian may, paul gilbert, etc........and there lightsabers are like their lightsabers..........................................................................tht would be sweet

  • and thier lightsabers are like thier lightsabers.........guitars like light sabers

  • paul gilbert rocks !!!

  • I really wish they made a hollywood quality movie with a really cheesy but awesome plot about guitar players that have to band together and play awesome guitar to save the world, or something... and paul gilbert would definitely be in it. Eddie Van Halen would of course narrate it and David Lee Roth would have to be in it as well... and buckethead. Who else?

  • Well, I don't know, but they'd lose, until the end, when Jason Becker gets his ability back, comes in in a dramatic scene, and beats the devil in a guitar duel :-)

  • sweet

  • wow paul gilbert

  • for this sound = Gibson-like Paf + maple toped mahoganny body ( Gibson Les paul sound is same ), and a Peavey or laney amp with the mid and hi at max

  • what mode and scale is he usin?

  • Which amp is he using ?

  • those traids are crazy at 1:36

  • those aren't triads he's playing dimished arpeggios

  • does he have a certain effect on his guitar

  • Somebody please tell me how he gets that percussive tone every time he picks, I'd kill for that tone, I've tried so hard but i cant get that chunk , even when i palm mute, espiecically on those higher strings.
