  • And this is when it's empty. It's a commercial vehicle and is rated to carry close to 1 ton!

  • The Mitsubishi Express (Delica, L300, etc ...) has designed over 20 years, can not be expected to have 5 stars.

  • Haha nasty steering wheel smashes into drivers head, dont see that on good cars eg mondeo, insignia, focus, volvos

  • 0:48 that will make you dead

  • man japan started selling these micro buses 30 years ago around the world, most of which are 14 passengers, used as taxi in a lot of countries around the world, specially the toyota hiace and nissan urvan and mazda b series, these things are a sort of income to a lot of people to support their families, go to Egypt, sudan, yemen, kenya, ethipia, west africa and in south america like bolovia also in syria, lebanon and iraq.

they might be fine in heavy traffic cities, but lethally danger on dodgy highways

  • At one point the Japanese were selling small vans like these for Americans to put their families in. The smart people stuck with their Volvo /Mercedes station wagons

  • @swedishiron And the even smarter people than that stuck with their Ford LTD and Chevy Caprice wagons because they where not only smart but also had patriotic values and supported their countrys industry.

  • can i buy the wreck ?............

  • what a nasty piece of work........

  • very dead your so dead.........

  • this is not the 2006 model and it is not a express it is a l200

  • @pqhat1

    WRONG. WRONG> WRONG

in australia it is called an express, and yes it is a 2006 model. you youtube retard. are you from england? theyre called l200 in england. idiot

  • @timetofly08

    wow calm down

    you're right i've failed

but i AM a mitsubishi fan

  • @timetofly08 i could of sworn l200 was the mighty max/triton, not the van-wagon, starwagon or express or l300...

  • Safety Fail

  • I wouldn't actually wear my seatbelts because 1 it's fun flying through the windscreen and 2 it probably doesn't make much difference.

  • Yes this model is old but they still sell it so it is actually a 2006 everytime I see these I'm like death on wheels

  • I'd rather jump from the empire state building than surviving that crash! At least the jump would be fun.

  • person would be decapitated by the wheel stabed in the chest by the brake pedal and then passed through a fine mesh screen

  • Mitsubishi rocks but WTF HAPPENED HERE???? They failed with this car. I mean, imagine the commercial for it.... "Introducing the all-new 2006 Mitsubishi Express. The most unsafe van ever. (displays 1 star)" Oh boy.

  • @diegodaudt They have been based on the same body for about 20 years in Australia. Don't know what they do in other countries, but generally accepted that these are a deathtrap

  • if i owned one i would never wear my seat belt i would rather take my chances getting thrown through the windshield

  • Comment removed

  • Thats the L300

  • Far out, the passengers in that car are goign to come out with some serious injury

  • Who Wants To Die LOL

  • if it lacked seatbelts it would get a 0

  • no airbags?

  • There is no reason why that structure couldnt be toughened up to do much better.Actually, this isnt bad, ever see the double cab VW crash test on You Tube? The whole passenger compartment is crushed like a soda can.

  • look at the Mercedes sprinter models. They are quite safe and compare them to the Ford transit.

Both are incomparable to this blender.

And if you look at the crash test from the Fiat ducato 1998 or so, even this is better than this, whatever it is.

  • @honussa This is the standard Mistubishi van, as sold on Australia. Although it should be pointed out, not all that many of them these days

  • @Mechknight73 Let's just hope that the australian drivers are good drivers. Good and calm drivers - not like those maniacs in Austria or in Germany. There are no speed limits on German highways! I guess that's why they have to have strong built cars.

  • @honussa Some are, some are really crap. I think the Mitsubishi attitude to safety in these things is "We have 200 million+ people here, we can afford to lose a few." There used to be no speed limits on the highways in the Northern Territory of Australia. Now they're limited to 130km/h. Which was suicidal, as you could hit an emu or buffalo by day, cattle and kangaroos by night. All of which could kill at speed

  • Its a very old design. The same van was sold in the usa in the late 1980's

  • wat happen to airbag ? where is it ? LOL

  • @alzym1 If I had to buy one, the first things to go in it would be a rollcage in the cabin, a 6-point harness, and a huge suspension upgrade. Of just say "@#&* it!" and shell out the extra money for a Mercedes Sprinter instead

  • @alzym1 No airbag in this car.

  • If you're driving one of those things, you'd better make sure your legs are made of titanium.

Either that or you're like the T-1000 from Terminator.

  • vas are safe in collision with car,

but when he hit other van or SUV. there is a problem

  • You're always first at the scene of an accident in a van

  • Well, to be fair, these vans aren't sold here cause they don't pass the safety regulations. Hmm, I wonder why...

  • I'LL NEVER DRIVE A VAN AGAIN!

  • lol funny i want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it Delica?

  • @taiyujuin It's the Australian 2wd variant of the Japanese Delica

  • shit i have to go to school on these crap

  • if your in the back your laughing. :)

  • those dummies should really take defensive driving. if they sold them here in the us i'd buy one. mine is 20years old and still running strong

  • Damn, I drive one. :|

  • Buy A Ford Transit

  • thats wat i was about to say

  • These vans are only designed to be simple, honest and reliable workhorses.

Besides, most accidents are at less than 64km/h.

  • this model is like 20 years old. Its time for a new one, mitsubishi.

  • Lol?

  • Ugh toyota driver

cause driving 60 in a 100 zone is completly acceptable

i see this in toyotas on a daily basis so don't argue the toss

  • They need to do these tests at higher speeds and different angles to better simulate real world crashes. Because you arent always going to be hit straight-on from the fron and side at 30mph. It will most likely be from a weird angle or different speed.

  • i dont understand whts the point of the rating of a car crash. ok this is a 1 star ANCAP, so? it is still out for sale and people are still buying it

  • @lcw288 It simply gives consumers an informed choice "Do you take the 1 star van, that will probably kill or maim you in a 60km/h crash, or do you take the 5-star van where you might get a few bruises?" Motoring journalists rate cars for just about every aspect, so an impartial rating for safety seems reasonable

  • good thing i own one hey :/

  • I dont think there'd be much left of the driver in a real-world crash :/

  • your knees would hurt after that....

  • That's if you have left any knees...

  • Knee stubs?

  • Nubbins...

  • Express dead

  • Holy shit!!! That car sucks!!!

  • This model was launched in 1986 and has the engine under the seats. the newer L400 (Delica) model replaced it in all but a few markets. The L400 itself was replaced last year by another new model.

    Misleading video in my opinion.

  • That is not a 2006 model more like 90's model a Toyota Van is way better then THAT!!

  • i got a 95 model dammmn hu wants to buy it ?????

  • that should buff out:P

  • toyota is way better than mitsubsushi xD

  • yes, but was the cargo safe. in asia the drivers are expendable anyway

  • only a paper van would crumple like this.....imagine if this van gets fucked up by a kiddie car

  • A message to Mitsubishi, make a new Express.

  • let's go to work

  • no airbags!

  • airbags stop you being thrown as far forward... when your knees are the crumple zone, I don't think they would be of benefit.

  • LOL basically...yup.

  • Those vans are for work, not to be safe hahahaha!...

  • DEAD

  • the L300 to us. I thought theyd sroped making it in like 1994

  • u know he s dead

  • No he isn't.

  • Well, I'm just saying it's not horrible...

  • they should never even sell a car like that

  • A disgrace to the nameplate. No wonder they're struggling to sell cars. Take some pride mofoes

  • In Australia the car that was tested in the above video is called a Mitsubishi express and is still produced as above. We have 'delicas' too that are imported from japan, but i think they are quite different

  • What speed was that?

  • 40 miles per hour witch is also 64 kilometers per hour.

  • WoW Im 12 and In my vids I drove my peugeot *1 star* at 65 mph. Thats pretty frightening :-(

  • lol, hope you don't crash. btw, my comment below was a responce to "gmminivans9968"

  • its time for a new Van Mitsubishi

  • Comment removed

  • GMminivans9968,your brains must be damaged from SMOKIN YOUR UNCLE'S DICK in the back of this minivan, you must have had got skullfu*ked in the back cargo area, then your brains got wacked(fu*ckedskull) when you were driving and crashed it!

  • isn't too bad?! well, with no airbags i suppose. i would really wanna see you crash in this van since it's safe.

  • Is this a van intended for the Australian market? It reminds me very much of the Mitsubishi L300 from the early 1990s. Probably the same van, with a little changes. Can anyone confirm?

  • Don't drive a van! Problem solved.

  • its also called in asia as slang ! THE LAND KAMAKASI,because of the high death rate with the drivers of these vans!

  • You guys have to keep in mind that Mitsubishi have been making this van for over a decade and a half, with no major updates.

  • PIECE~ OF~ SHIT~ SI, EXPRESS

  • Comment removed

  • GMminivans9968, i hope you are behind the wheel in one of these piece of shit si vans when it hits a wall at 90 kph! hyundai used to make this deathtrap in korea in the 80's-early 90's its been discountuned because its a deathtrap & the factory burnt up in a fire, so much for safety!! the old name was hyundai grace, ride in one of these you better say your prayers(grace)

  • I find this funny daewooparts, Me and gmminivans had a arguement over a dodge caravan crash test. Search up 97 dodge caravan test and look at teh comments.

  • mitsubishi express.... an expressway to death ....

  • hahahahah hole=E shit

    its an 06?? seriously?

    no bags?

  • I think its an older Design, they just retest it.

  • lexington666xxx,yes it a 2006 model and it does come with bags as a option,that is BODYBAGS!!!!!!!!:{

  • the australia model got a 1 star rating? i cant wait to see the(GWM)GREATWALL MOTORS chinese version when it gets testcrashed.,it will most likely get a negitive -1 rating!!!

  • it would be great if it could be driven from the storage place...it`s like a coffin on wheels :))

  • 0 stars .,.,that's dead

  • pretty much

  • Comment removed

  • yeh.. just a scratch

  • LOL steering wheel goes right into its face and then over it.

The safest place to be is in the back in the storage bit

  • Lmao, what a piece of shit.

  • This is called a Mitsubishi L300 by me

  • its been rebadged as a PIECE~OF~SHIT~SI,EXPRESS. instead of MITSUBISHI EXPRESS,it is made like a piece of shit, only 1 star crash rating?

  • in that van=death.

  • damm, mitsubishi makes greats engine , but with this van they suck big time

  • great engines, they're harsh and petrol hungry with poor economy and poor auto transmission.

  • I forgot to put cars also . Now , about petrol hungry and poor economy and poor auto transmission , that depend of the driver, and driving style...

  • Well I know literally dozens of people who have and curently drive Mitsubishis. My parents had a TP Magna with Astron 2.5 engine, thing would drink 14L/100km on a city cycle. My V6 3.5L Aurion does 9.5 in the city and I'm a quite good driver. You may argue that the Aurion is a newer car and the older Magna is just that... old. Well, I drove a 380 last year, a rental, it did 14 on a city/highway cycle. The engine temp goes up in half the time of other cars. Engines need more servicing.

  • what country are you ?? never heard those models, I've had the space wagon , and for a time a lancer , they never gave me a problem

  • Oh, I'm in Australia. The Mitsubishis here are Australian made as well as some Japanese and Malaysian made ones. Mitsubishi marketed the Magna which was replaced by the 380 (both are basically the US model called Gallant. They also sell Lancer and Colt. They have various engines, I have personal experience with the Astron 2.5 and MIVEC 3.8 and the one in the 2002 Magna. All of which were hot running, harsh and petrol hungry compared to the Toyota Aurion and Holden Commodore.

  • wha......?

  • Are they still making this horrible car ?

The worst car i`ve ever met. And it`s a ,Mitsubishi , that`s why it`s so bad in the crash test . Can someone upload a elk test whit a L200 so we can see som rollovers.

  • Yes they are - I once drove one through a large factory with tight and narrow corridors (for vehicles) and I'm glad now I didn't scrape it against anything lol!

  • Designed and originally released about 1987 and has retained that shape to present day. That's why it performed so badly.

  • Mitsubishi Express to hospital

    :D

  • hejejehehee

  • does anyone know if this has the 3.0 v6?

  • if you ask me id say it has a 4.1 straight six because of the way the van accelarates so quickly

  • is the engine under the seats like the toyota previa. were do u hide a 4.1 straight 6?

  • It only has a 4 cylinder engine and it's under the front seats.

  • Nope 2.0 or 2.4 4 cyl.

  • EEEPPPP!!!

  • Sooo basically those dudes got pwned... :/

  • Looks like the driver/passenger cabin is the crumple zone for the cargo bay. Hence no airbags... lol

  • are these van rear wheel drive?

  • Yup

  • Mister bitchy

  • bitsashiti

  • this vans are only sold in japan and southest asia... toyota, nissan also sells vans like this... take a look at "toyata hi-ace crash test".

  • They are sold all ower the world, we have plenty here in sweden, calling them monky ambulaces. Normally seen full of arabs...

  • sold everywhere. im in australia; my family used to own one - terrible car, and we didn't even crash it. poor test dummies...

  • fuck you like die so quick dam

  • i heard the boss of mitsubishi ran away of something serious about the wheels of their trucks .

  • wow japs make shitboxes like that as well?

  • No, that's just Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi generally sucks, but Honda and Toyota, which are also Japanese, are some of the best cars in the world.

  • Hahaha, i drive an '88 mitsubishi van just like that one, i always knew it wasnt very safe... now I'm alitle scared...

  • No crumple zones? Noa airbags? This is one van I won't be in!

  • Ditto. The 2005 Toyota Hiace did much better with the features you mentioned.

  • Sure, this Mits is a 80's design but Toyota and other makes still sell brand new flat nose vans designed in this millenium today! Like the HiAce. It's even more flat nosed than this Mitsu Express.

Most flat nose vans will crash like this.

  • Pfft...that'd buff out with a little elbow grease

  • This van is so old, lat 80's was when it was introduced, I think they still sell them because they have a whole lot of them still unsold because people don't want to buy crap like this. We have a new Mitsubishi Galant and it is great. Not all Japanese cars are like this. If you look at any other van of this age design, you will find that it will crash just like this.

  • well, its a "2006" model lol. mitsu hasnt changed the chassis or design of this car for like 20 years! no wonder it does so poorly, especially by today's standards

  • I had an older toyota minivan similar to this. The midengine design is practical and ecomical. Bad crash testing was the main reason for the front engine change.... still love the styling though

  • True, Delicas, L300 and this Express are from the 80's technology. Even flat nose vans from Nissan and Old HiAce can have the same rating.

Hey, its unfair to compare a 2006 with a 1980 technology. The 2006 Delica D:5 can perform better.

  • Wow.. :(

  • hmm... The hiace with the same forward cab layout managed 3 stars...

  • This is a very old platform. It may be 2006, but the body dates abck to the late 80s early 90s. There is another mitsu commercial platform that is much newer.. I didn't think they still sold this model??

  • Dude, not all Japanese cars are good. Honda and Toyota are about the best in the entire world, whereas Mitsubushi sucks balls

  • he he lol

  • Vans without a hood, front passanger and driver is part of the crumple zones.

  • I was thinking exactly the same. The wheels and all the weight of the car is behind you, the wall is in front of you, and you are in the middle. Independent of the manufacturer, this layout isn't going to do very well in a crash.

  • Someone says Japanese car is safe and good...

    check this...what a shit...

  • This doesn´t represent japanese cars very well...

Watch some lexus or toyota tests and u see the difference.
