Hee! Hee! In Alaska's "Eskimo Olympics" there's a similar event where the two brawny contestants lie prone facing each other nose-to-nose with thongs around each other's ears while they pull against each other. It's called the "ear pull" and whoever gives in to the pain first is the loser.

This maneuver reminds me of a martial arts move in the Korean art of Kuk-Sool-Won which uses a nasty mouth hold to subdue an opponent.

They're just having a bit of fun. What's wrong with that? I want to visit Greenland someday. It looks absolutely beautiful, and the people seem like they know how not to take life so seriously and enjoy themselves. That's something the rest of the world could take a lesson from.
