these guys could get WAY more leverage upwind if sailed with their legs together on the trap, i pitchpoled a hobie 16 the other day, and i was completely out on the trap and we still flipped my skipper was all the way out too, legs straight.
nice work. fyi... keep weight back when headed down wind under spin. diff weight distro then upwind when trapped (or not). best with skipper in all the way back .. crew trapped, right behind skip.
Went to the Columbia river near Hood river, been there done that. We had a problem with braking rudder pins on our 18SX ?? never did get that. Had something to do with pushing the boat to hard in the fresh water. We normally sail in the salt water near Port Townsand, WA, like a wind tunnel there.
Were you trying to pitchpole? Both helm and crew were awfully far forward, and you can see tons of spray coming from the leeward bow. Why didn't you move back a bit?

@shawnferd, I'm afraid to say a mast float won't keep you from pitchpoling my friend.

This isn't actually my video and i dont actually know the people, but that would be a dodgy snuffer system for the spinnaker.
