Yeah, I filmed it with a Canon GL2 and the built-in mic. I'd like to invest in an external microphone, though, to get better audio.

really? i've been thinking of buying that camera actually, all the reviews said that the inbuilt mic is pretty bad, but this seems good to me? what mic were you thinking of buying?

It took me a while to figure out how to tweak the built-in mic so live shows would sound reasonable. Make sure you use the microphone attenuator setting ("MIC ATT"). You'll also need to adjust the gain accordingly so the sound doesn't peak or flatten out. Finding the right setting is hard to describe; you sorta pick up on it through practice and knowing the venue layout.

I don't know what microphone I wanna get. My friend uses the Rode VideoMic and likes it, despite the lackluster reviews.
