  • I think the DI is the most useful part of the glitch. But messing up your opponent's timing isn't too bad either.

  • thumbs up if it reminds you of the black hole glitch from melee

  • this is more stupid video game physics than it is a glitch. stupid video.

  • lol that happens to zero suit too

  • How do you do that??

  • It's not called the plunge it's called the down thrust and too link is my favorite/best character this is no glitch it's something the game creators made so that toonlink has a fair recovery chance that's why first he goes fast than kinda slow than doesn't move down because if someone hit u up high it would make him very cheap and this game uses physics a lot and this was apart of physics somehow idk about the physics part but ya to make him fair xD

  • @sinester306 That makes no sense at all. And you lie about how the creators made it this way. Where's your proof?

However, I agree that it has to do with the game's physics being wacky. In other words, a glitch.

  • i figured out how to do this when i was on wi-fi fighting a blue ike he used the fire pillar move which sent me in the air i tried to counter with the...sword pogo stick thing...and i got stuck for a few seconds

  • @shadowlink301 you mean "Down Stab?"

  • @captinawesomesauce finisher,thats what its called..

  • I've done this by accident as Toon Link...

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • ... -_- I_I -_- I_I

  • does this have any practical use?

  • I know that glitch , except I don't back in the air. It only works if you try to do that attack as being sent flying in the air (Top screen).

  • Hah, this reminds me of the Zero Gravity in Dissidia duodecim, just for the exception that Toon Link´s sword would damage you and spike you if you´d touch it...

  • useful recovery tatic?

  • Toon Link: FUCK GRAVITY!!!

  • this is an anoying glitch i descoverd when i tryd killing someone on sd and just floeted over him when i did my dair as toon link instead of ko him -.- (ya you can move apparentlly left to right but you cant control yourself)

  • worthless.

  • @Voltstryke did you see the recovery he pulled off with the glitch? how in the hell is that worthless?

and you can use it as a fake out right before your real dair to trick the other player up.

    you sir noob, are worthless

  • @CKrantz1 Bitch shut the fuck up, it obviously doesn't work every time. You can't just do it a will whenever the hell you want to, you can attempt to but it doesn't mean you will. And if your off edge and you do the real one by mistake, you fall to your death. its worthless. Next time speak when spoken to bitch, until then hold your motherfucking tongue.

  • @Voltstryke first off, calm the fuck down...no need to have a heart attack over a youtube comment. also the reason it doesnt work everytime is probably because he hasnt perfected the timing. once someone does that the move will work everytime making this a very worthwhile glitch

    fucking idiot

  • @CKrantz1 Bitch you clam down fag, no one told you to respond to my comment. Don't like the respond the kindly shut the fuck up and go about your own business bitch. Keep responding and im going to keep dissing you every fucking time. Thats what makes it worthless ass, you can't do it at will 100 percent of the time. The risk of it not working is too great. If you don't want to acknowledge or understand that you are a true baka.

  • @Voltstryke please not fighting over what a video contains if it is useful or not. Can't we just keep to ourselves?

  • @Axeldin yea yea alright >.> i can respect that.

  • I gotta know, after this thing as triggered, is it there permanently? I see you use it as a possible recover, but what if it just goes back to normal and you go straight down?

  • that happened to me before

  • Thats no glitch. Toon link activated that move just as he was supposed to fly further into the air. any character can do this. But this is pretty cool. Good job discovering this bro.

  • inertia is a property of matter...

bil bil bil bil nye the science guy

  • hi zero suit samus

  • it looks like a camera trick to me

  • @1wykydwoman

    watch the background.

  • this happens when a character that normally D-airs fall down is hit up - the normal move wont take place until the character is under full control - like after jumping or some other way

  • @toshironikko so basicly with the nunchuck u push c the same time u push down a

  • i already knew that

  • Lol dude. im glad u found it out. but i figured it out a long time ago.

  • @XDcommunity Ummmm yay. When did you find it out? 3 years ago?

  • @Dragonmaster146 Mayb :P. idk i cant remember how long its been since i discovered it. but its a fun way 2 distract ppl wit it

  • How many characters can use this advanced technique?

  • Its not a glitch, it happens with other characters as well such as sonic and shiek. It has to do with the fact that you have no downward momentum and as such don't fall.

  • I wouldn't call it a glitch, per se, more of an exploit of Brawl's physics.

  • That happens to me a lot. It gets a bit annoying...

  • This gets in the way so much when I'm playing....

  • Lol. Great recovery tool...unless you do it wrong. SD MO' FUGGAS!

  • I dont think its a glitch, because the others like Zero Suit, Ice Climbers, Sonic, and Shiek do the same thing...

  • I think it is a glitch because why would the programmers want Toon Link to stay in the air when that move is suppose to have Toon Link fall.

  • so where does the glitch come in exactly?

  • That's supposed to happen.

  • i don't think thats a glitch

  • There's more to it then that, but the basics had to be cleared up.

  • Wow, how could so many people be so wrong. Listen up people, this is what happens.

Toon gets hit by an attack giving him momentum and hitstun. Hitstun wears off but Toon still has momentum. Toon hits Double Jump and then Instantly Hits Dair (almost at the same time). If timed right, the effect seen above of Toon stalling can be easily re-created and even done on purpose.

  • To float sideways while Toon is stalled, you simply need to Double Jump sideways and the rest is the same. This can be used for an excellent recovery because it makes you recover much higher by floating towards the stage. Simply get hit off stage, Bair (to get out of hitstun asap) double jump towards stage and Instantly Dair. If done properly while you still have momentum, you will float back towards stage in the Dair animation (as seen above).

  • u could do this wit diddy kong but u hav to get hit up in the air and do up b but instead u fly up...(u hav to hold it)

  • It's not a glitch because the programmers didn't want you to be able to survive from any attack that knocked you upward. Otherwise, Toon Link could go up a few spots on Tier List.

  • this is NOT a glitch its sinetic energy -_-

  • @Rakatanz

    you mean kinetic energy?

    anyway, tahts not it

actually that that fastfall from TL's Dair cancels out the momentum of the Usmash

    resulting in a hover

  • it must be a bug of somekind because you dont stay perfectly still in the air for a long period of time.

  • whats a d-air? im new to brawl so yeah...

  • @ arkalauz.... are you silly? lol

    thats a glitch <.<

do you think that nintendo want it? <.<

  • Its like momentum, not a glitch.

  • So this is why I got bamboozled in the boss rush.

  • Guys it's not a glitch it happens all the time when you do that but you didn't do anything to the game when you do it

  • dudes its not a glitch it hapens all the tyme

  • @yunglegacy100 Yea 'cuz obviously the programmers wanted to make you to stay in the air after a dair.

  • @nextwatcher

...ok i cant tell if that was sarcastic or not, but just in case it was: it's not a glitch, the momentum from the throw is just being canceled by the motion of the D-air. so, you just end up with no kinetic energy what-so-ever.

  • @nextwatcher its not a glitch but the programmers didnt make it. You can only do it if your trying to and its like an instant cancel on teh attack like beginning a punch and rolling back.

  • @aaaagk A glitch is a thing that happens in a program that the programmer didn't intend so thanks for proving my points.

  • @nextwatcher But if you read the instructions its in the quick cancel under controls?

  • Glad I wasn't the only one who knew this glitch!

  • weried how do u do that

  • This isn't a glitch >.> its part of the program and was meant to be this way!

  • Its a glitch. All characters with Down Airs that change momentum do this. It's because if they could down air to immediately go down, it would be almost impossible to kill those characters by knocking them up off the screen.

  • There's no health in a basic match. Your life goes on untill the enemy blasts you off the screen. The higher the percentage next to your characters picture is, the longer and faster you will fly when hit.

If you're first to reduce the oppontents remaining lifes (not the percentage) to 0 or if you have more KO's than your enemy when the time runs out, you win.

  • P.S.: If you're interested in learning SSBB or if you're simply curios, search "smash like a pro" on youtube and watch the first 2 videos of the series. The following videos may not be interesting for people who don't own the game.

However, it's a very fun game, especially together with friends. You should take a look.

  • i just loved this comment

  • hahaha i know a better glitch...i mean, i dont know how i did it but it was way cooler(though i have an idea)...i was using Diddy and you know the recovery, UpB, well i think somebody grabbed me while i had a giant mushroom then the giant mode went off and he hit me..or something like that, like a second later when i tried the UpB you know diddy is supposed to charge while he falls slowly, well instead of going down i went up all the way to the top while charging...i should prolly upload that

  • Captain Falcon:*charges Blaster* *shoots*

    Toon link:*hovers*

    Falcon:o_O

    Toon link: 8D

  • @Greenflashblur2 Captain Falcon doesn't have a blaster... perhaps you're thinking of Falco?

  • I dont use items myself,

The Blaster item i am talking about (shoots rapidly and can take charged shots)

  • Ohhh, that makes sense, you're talking about the super scope. I don't play items myself, either.

  • Nintendo Scope... =/

  • He actually has one, he just doesn't use it.

  • LATASHA. IS. NOT. IN. BRAWL.

  • whatever you say.... >.>

  • lol this ALWAYS happens to me when i use sonic

  • not a glitch -__-

  • whas DI mean?

  • directional influence.

  • just because you can do it with more than one character doesnt void it as a glitch... its just a glitch that more than one character can do.

  • It's not a glitch.

Other characters can do it too.

It's a GREAT mindgame, and if you hold left or right (correct me on this if I'm wrong) you'll float that way a bit, instead of just sitting there.

  • it is definitly a glitch..... characters arnt supposed to float in mid air.... and it only works with arieal down A's that quickly move down, like sonic, zero suit, game and watch and toon link.

  • its not a glitch... you can also do it with mr.game and watch its like that

  • To me it seems toon links aerial down & a was working against his jump which kept him afloat... Just a guess...

  • if anyone wants a real ass wiping send me your code my code is 1782-46782362

  • This is the definition of Mindgamez

  • i can imagine the other guy's face if this was done of WFC

he would be like WHAT THE FUCKING HELL

  • This is pretty hard to do in WFC since I lag online. I guess it depends on your connection speed.

  • I've done it before, you just need good timing. Tried this over WFC, was funny as hell.

  • Brawl > Street Fighter

in my opinion....i just like the physics and originality it offers

  • 1003. comment :P

  • I knew this glitch a long time ago... but i sometimes its funny to do while someone else is in the air to try to spike them. xD

  • lol funny didnt knew we could do that xD

  • 1000th comment :D and great vid

  • So you can pretty much use this with recovery or a mindgame? Hm...

  • Toon Link: WHEEEE!!!

  • that was a cool glitch

  • toon link: no gravity 4 me im 2 good 4 that!

  • ROFL Best comment of the year.

  • can anyone tell me how it works, it happend 1time to me

  • try checking the description

  • Yea it is...

  • No it doesnt, it is when you are slowly

  • o wow u saw this vid 2 dude, sheck out my comment its recent

  • @arkalauz yes it is... it's an unintentional canceling of his upward momentum using the momentum given to him using dair

  • does this work with more assrapey damage levels so you can just barely survive some vertical deaths?

  • Lol, ill make it always xD

  • that can save you some day xD

  • This was never a glitch lol. But then again, this video was released just shortly after the game came out (less than a month) so I can't complain.

  • LOL!!

  • lol its funny

i jsuyt stayed up there and let everyone else do the fighting

  • I asked a Blizzard employee and he said "Working as intended" :P

  • If it isn't broken, Blizzard hasn't fixed it yet.

  • ...

  • Not a glitch really, just a calculation. The acceleration matched the fall, so the movement was set to 0.

I've pulled it off after being hit myself, funny but it's a normal result in trying to ground your character.

  • Yeah, that was my first thought. Haven't played this game in a while, but I remember toon link's double jump being weird, while he was kinda floaty or something like that. Not really a glitch.

  • Actually, I think adult Link has a bit of weight on him. I find it easier to recover with Toon Link in comparison, hence the Up-B takes me higher.

Would explain why you can't reproduce the same result with adult Link, and the fact his D-Air doesn't ground him.

  • But for some reason Link feels like he's going down with more force with TL, even though he's going much slower and not all the way )=b (supposed to be a thinking face XD)

  • Link has a large weight factor than Toon Link.

Like how Ganondorf weighs a lot more than CF.

  • I just find it weird, that you DONT fastfall, even though your momentum isnt from knockback and you arent in hitstun.. you should fastfall imo.. thats the glitch =)

  • actually the momentum IS from knockback. and the fast falls doesnt work when your going upwards, it was designed like that.

  • I thought that when you jump and immidiately do Dair, you wil fast fall.. gonna try it, then.

  • When you jump, momentum has no effect on you anymore. But, once the jump is finished and you use your D-air, you are effected by it again and the force upwards acts against the force downwards... And the force upwards is aided by the jump

When you get hit really far, you don't have to aerial

    School's out and I'm thinking. Dammit. :P

  • No glitches, just game physics... glitches are when weird things happen to the stage or character.

game physics are when 2 or more characters use certain moves to make the character freeze or anything like that

  • Its not a glitch, Its magic

  • its triforce to be precise

  • Omfglmao

  • It's not a glitch.

    (physics alert)

His downward thrust just canceled out his ascent. Depending on when used, he either hovered, or did something resembling the regular link's ending blow.

  • its just a...game...

  • kewl :3

  • Lo que yo daria por tener ese juego, nisiquiera el Wii :(

  • if any wants to join an epic clan join mine pc me and i will link u

  • wow. it almost like peach's jump, where u glided through air

  • WTF

  • -_-,

this video is about toon link, not olimar)

    lol

  • Thats not a glitch its just retarded game physics

  • i think thats called a glitch?

  • this isnt a glitch Its a effective move

  • that was beastly

  • that's not a glitch, that's just the physics of brawl...

  • whoa

  • yeah. that's not a glitch. that's how i do meteor strikes with toon link. it's the same kind of effect with falco. you jump and then do the down mid-air attack to kind of cancel your ascent so you stay still.

  • who would choose olimar! did u hypnotise him or sumthin

  • Olimar is best at Solimar.

  • olimar is awesome

  • yeah awesome

  • wtf, this is so useful

  • That's a weak glitch, but that does happen to me sometimes, exept I move downward very, very slowly.

  • Lol, it happened to me during boss battles on intense when i used toon link and i was fighting raquaza. I was like "ok what the heck just happened?!?!"

  • a nice saving move if you get knocked off the edge

  • OH

    MY

    GALKJWRHTMFNSGJKREHTJKNKD

  • Well, If you get launched up during the battle against Meta Ridley, it is a TOTAL help xD

  • Hey it would be funny if things like MoonJump, etc. were in Brawl...

    Not gonna happen.

  • god thats stupid

  • lol you could do this. it was in SSBM too. its just when you are still rising and you do your Dair, it will execute it but you will still rise. check out falco's in SSBM. it works the same.

  • falco's dair does not accelerate downwards as a move

  • think this happenes because linka down-A counters upward movment as a "life saver attack" of some sort:P

  • Hella stupid. Man why wouldn't they put Young Link Back in Brawl? Thats fuckin stupid. But Toon L. Kick ass though effortlessly with "About Face" The next SS Bros will have everybody I know it. I feel it. I can see it! Im on some future shit. "Welcome Back Young Link" Haha (Like 10 years from now) Haha :-/

  • Toon Link's last game was Phantom Hourglass, I believe. Young Link's was Majora's Mask. Notice the time difference. They wanted to put the more recent Link's in Brawl, which is also why Twilight Princess Link is in instead of Adult Link.

  • You know what's sad? Theres not gonna be a next one. Sakurai announced it.

  • No. He's just not gonna make the next one. They can easily make one without him. He doesn't own the rights to it.
