  • when u say throttle is it move of a reverse throttle then an applying the gas throttle? (just clarifying more of a move the wrist towards goose neck and anterior than the posterior). Thanks Ari.

  • Just did some muscle and ligament damage by not tapping out to this in time. It doesn't feel like much until the throttle (or body twist tweak from side control in my case). My advice. Once they grab their own arm start getting ready to tap. ouch.

  • u guies looked perverted

  • Press any number repeatedly and it still looks like gay porn...

  • @ilikemyskin what a dick...tell it to him and he will fuck you up xP

  • @SPYDA3303 And that's why i always carry a knife, to keep roid monkeys from ass raping me.

  • whats the instructors name?

  • what would you do if he doesnt release the grip behind your back?

  • Great move, so effortless, these are the kinds of submissions worth learning

  • I like it. I will give it a go today.

  • This is a pretty handy move, I've never seen or had it used on me but, I can recall many instances where this could've be soo useful.

Thanks :D always like to add new moves to the arsenal ;]

  • nice

  • i wonder if he's ever rolled with joe rogan

  • I have ;-) He is a strong guy!

  • What does the throttling do?

  • @martinimvu It creates more pressure on his elbow. By "throttling" It moves your forearm further up against the joint of his elbow. I also like to pair the throttling with a shrug of your shoulder in order to lift your elbow higher along with the thorttling of your wrist it will be very tight.

  • do you need alot a strengh for this

  • I don't think so... Jujitsu is reserving your power and using out the opponents so i don't think this would require alot of strength

  • hahaha he did too fat at 1.17

  • 1.17 guy farted

  • Very nice! simple and useful :)

  • If it's so basic and simple and has such a high success rate, why don't we see it more in MMA competition? Is there an equally simple escape that any MMA fighter worth his salt would know?

  • on second thought, if your in full mount, that neutralizes the "mir" lock counter from the bottom.

    ha.

  • wouldnt putting your hand on the mat set him up for a "mir" lock?

  • well done

  • His partner looks so beaten up. Is that a black eye? u guys do some serious training

  • you cant use this on an actual MMA fight

  • looks like a good move but from the mount it looks like you can shrimp, pin the non posted leg by stepping over and sweeping. the mounter will be forced to take the sweep or let go of the lock. ill still def try it out tho.

  • ive found that instead of just pushing the shoulder, start at the top of the pec/bottom of the shoulder joint and ROLL the shoulder out it makes it even that much more nasty

  • Hey Ari!! The Compressor Arm Lock, for the gansta lean, is the same tecnic? Thanks Ari 4 you free videos...

  • nice , but usually the guy on the bottem wouldnt rap his arms around you when your in full mount they usually try to flip you over by sticking an elbow between you and him

  • Actually, people do that all the time when they are on the bottom, to try to cut the distance and avoid movement for those on the top, if your opponent is on top, then it's a bit more uncommon, but you still can get him with it, I got two guys today with that lock.

  • seems so obvious of a submission once you've shown it. Never would have thought to do it on my own

  • 1:17 sounds 'tooty'. :) A similar technique is taught in MCMAP.

  • Genius. Thanks, Ari.

  • i'll be sure to add this to my bag of tricks

  • Nice move.. You gotta be quick with that foot though, when you are getting the overhook.. - If you're too slow, you're gonna get swept...

  • yeah but you can still get the tap from guard after a sweep

  • nice lock.

  • wow what a versatile submission. I'm definitely going to add this to my arsenal. Thanks for the upload Ari ;)

  • SICK i MUST try this

  • it seems like posting up quickly is important, so you don't get upa'd

  • 1.16 .... is that a fart ?? dont think you can blame the mat on that one lmao

  • @timcash9 - Sounds like a genuine fart to me:P

  • @tim and arni, its actually the guy tapping rapidly and the video delays the hand tap. if that makes sense.

  • tap-tap-tap-tap(fart)...hahaha, i'll never grow up.

  • Nice.

  • hmm random question... is it alright to learn jiu jitsu from the internet. Everytime i try a new move in class i end up getting pwned...its annoying when somedays u just cant go to class

  • It's fine to learn Jiu - Jitsu from the internet, however you need to practice the moves repeatedly with a partner over and over again, until it becomes second nature. You're probably getting pwned because you haven't done the moves enough. It will come eventually.

  • I tried this yesterday and both me and the other guy felt the pressure in the elbow, not in the shoulder.

  • Yep, it attacks the elbow for sure...the name basically means you 'wrap around the arm and place you hand on the shoulder' ...hence the reasons it says wrapping shoulder with arm lock.

  • Ok then... I thought I was doing something wrong. This one is easy to do.

    Thanks for the video

  • that guy taps out really quick

  • Looks the same as judo kannuki gatame.

Only in judo we attack the elbow joint, not the shoulder.

  • Yep, it attacks the elbow for sure...the name basically means you 'wrap around the arm and place you hand on the shoulder' ...hence the reasons it says wrapping shoulder with arm lock.

  • is this like a new move? I never thought of this b4

  • No, not new at all.

  • @Submissions101 I realize this is basically a standard arm lock done the opposite way, so the hand is on the shoulder instead of the wrist, but I really can't see this breaking anyone's arm especially if they're larger. Do you think this technique has enough leverage to inflict damage to a determined attacker?

  • I tried this out in jits class tonight. I caught several people with it, and it hurts like a mofo. Definitely significant pressure on the elbow. I showed it to my instructor (4th degree black belt in Kajukenbo), and he recognized it as a variation of something they teach from a standing position for self defense. So I'd say it does have enough to damage a determined attacker.

  • I too would love to know if this move inflicts enough pressure to break the elbow of your average attacker.

  • @Submissions101 very good one brother.. i use this a lot when i cant get my triangle or armbar... i fake a kimura and go for this right away, and i feel it really good when guy tries to posture up, makes it easier for the lock, its scary cus sometimes they dont see it coming and i feel like they are going to hurt themselves into not taping at the right time....i find it easy to do on white belts or fresh bluebelts. but a good second resort move from guard to induce them in errors.

  • @kingtwenty20 thanks for the vids and keep posting... cheers guys.

  • Seems more like an arm lock the shoulder

  • LMFAO! 1:16 he farts when he taps!

  • this made my day! not just the fart but seeing this comment before the video LOL!!

  • well spotted :D

  • @DefCon1990 haha he sure did!

  • Amazing. Everytime i have an overhook on one arm my go to is always the triangle (and it works fairly well most/all the time on newer guys) but indeed, the more experienced are more resistant.

I should try this over hook -> kimura-like grip submission, thanks!

  • We only learn so much

  • The move is pretty easy too.

  • Ah, uke kujiki, but in mount.

  • Is this safe to attempt on a friend? :P

  • nice, we do this in standing standing position in Japanese Jujitsu never occurred to me to try it from the guard position. thanks

  • exactly

  • That's not guard

  • i guess you didnt bother to watch the entire video

  • acouple problems with this, easy to get rolled and also all they have to do is push your elbow up over their head and their out.

  • nice trick.. will try that tomorrow!

  • HAHAHA he definitely farted at 1:17

  • @Tristaniscool lol ya he did

  • lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • hey, its a new way to tap, in case your partner isnt hearing, he'll probably feel the smell

nah, getting serious, nice technique but its so hard to do from the guard... its even hard to get someone to actually tap from this when he is actually willing to feel it.

this doesn't works the same on everyone

  • awesome technique, from the gaurd esp. Thx

  • if your opponent use the limp arm to counter just take advantage of the momentum to attack with omoplata or an armbar on the belly

  • nice, but easy to escape, just rotate your arm(limp arm)..

  • @ebsouljah Try going for the Kimura when your partner limp arms...works like a charm ;-)

  • Haven't tried it yet. It looks like it could be a good transition to something else, but unless you can trap your opponent's free arm it appears it is too easy to mess with the hand on the shoulder that provides the opposing force.

  • works like a charm, thanks.

  • That worked very well, thanks!

  • i love that i wouldnt use it from mount bc i do mma so ill just punch them but from the bottom i could use ide have to modifie it thou so they arnt punchin me with there free hand but still love the move thanx

  • nice fart at 1:18 haha

  • i did hear that..must have been a painful lock.

  • laugh...it does sound like that doesn't it? Its those damn mats!

  • @pipersmitty87 i lolled

  • hehe its easy and fun to try out on your friend :)

  • not really effective.

  • oh it works.

you just have to do it right.

  • im not saying it doesnt work, but its way to easy to power out of. its cute and it'll work against someone weaker who doesnt know what he's doing, but anyone with any type of grappling experience can get out of. I love subs 101 but this video just isnt that effective.

  • "but its way to easy to power out of."

that right there is an indicator of poor technique.

what if the guy who did this to you was way stronger than you. could you still power out of it. i think not.

no disrespect but i take technique over power anytime. and if you have both the better.

  • To Don paeng: Different techniques work on different bodie bro. You cant just throw evrythin out the window. Jiu jitsu is about being open minded.

  • ?? you should really learn to read comment threads before replying like that.

because i wasn't throwing nothing out the window.

  • My bad. I did read it wrong.

  • don't love it til you try it.

  • I am using this today for sure.

  • Very simple, very efective.... Ari Bolden is the best ciber-master... 5 stars video

  • submissions 101 RULE

  • beautiful, watching these videos really makes me want to a bjj gym, unfortunately I don't have the time or money yet :(

  • Story of my life, man.

  • This is a gorgeous yet underused move.

  • Thanks Ari, nice demonstration. Ive used this in Judo.

  • reminds me of the japenese standing armlock!!!

  • i like the direction your most recent videos are going because there are so many little locks that i have missed in classes focused on fighting. i come from an Aikido background and this kind of teaching

(showing lots of clear detail and how to apply compliance) is something that i never see. little moves like this help me move from just being a brawler to really understanding submissions in places where i have nothing. thanks again

  • Training looks nice, but in real life the angles can get nasty as they twist the elbow inside and pull to escape.

From the top I would always go for kami-hiza-gatame, but it's too risky to do with sparring partner as you can dislocate the joint before he even feels any pain...

  • We have a great transition to the kimura if they bend the elbow...works like a charm. Obviously any move can be countered or defended so you need to know positions and be ready for the next move in the chess game we call jiu jitsu.

  • I can't hold the mount for very long in a grappling match (no punching threat = they roll or bridge) but when they move arm to the inside I secure the elbow and go to the side for shoulder twist (kinda like reverse kimura).

I'm not that good at classic kimura game, gotta work on that :)

  • @Submissions101 not trying to be a d-bag, but arent your grips reversed? guess i just have to see it..

  • My prayers are answered

  • i always have trouble getting that in guard with gi,knee on belly no problem or mount but guard they wiggle out of it, any suggestions or variation??

  • We transition to the kimura from guard when they bend the elbow.

  • dood that move looks soo sneaky good stuff as always 10thpjj

  • this ins't 10thPJJ...just standard jj stuff ;-)

  • yea i know i just didnt kno what to call u guys so i say 10th planet bjj lol but yea u guys rock thnx

  • nice black eye need to show them who the boss is, i got ya

  • dang ive never seen half of these submissions before. i wonder why theyre not used as often. are they like not practical things to use in mma?

  • More straight jiu jitsu....a lot of them leave options to strike open....but still good to add to the arsenal

  • i feel i could have totally used this one while someone was trying to wiggle out of a mount. i feel the same as Powrboy77 that i just have not seen these ones used by people at my gym. i bet a lot of guys know them but just not taught and i am glad to see as many new (new to me) moves.

  • Having all these videos are nice, but there should be a video or some sort of annotation that emphasizes you pick only four or five moves max and practice them like your life depends on it.

Not to say that you should stop making these videos, but remind the viewers that there's no point in knowing these moves if you don't practice them.

  • My favorite armbar. Great with the gi cuz you can choke at the same time.

  • Seriously cant wait to try this tomorrow! Thanks!

  • nice cant wait to try this
