yeah, frenchie, good girl! just proves to not believe everything you read/hear. They told me my shortybull couldnt/shouldnt swim, well she absolutely LOVES swimming, and it's her favorite thing to do. I guess it depends on the dog, and what they like to do.

Our little Julio is the same way, he just jumped in the pool one day and has swam with us ever since! As with all children and animals, we monitor him to make sure he is safe but he seems to understand that he cannot go into the pool without adult supervision. : D

my dog was always SO fascinated with our pool and then he was jumping around the edge of the pool while my parents were swimming with his brother and then he accidentally fell off the edge and into the pool and he just went sinking. he came back up for air and went back down and my mom just scooped him up and he was a very spoiled dog for the rest of the day but somehow..he still wants to go in the pool. I dont understand it.

dude i have 3 frenchies and its sooo messed up to make them swim and dive....first off they cant even breath right when they're not in water and second they're not supposed to swim its like torture to them :(

Ur so lucky. My frenchie sinks. I found out the hard way on a boating trip. Im glad i only lost my fishing pole n not my dog. Now he always has to ware his PFD.

my frenchie doesn't know that some stuff drown and some don't. so we throw a rock and he thinks it doesnt drown and just keeps on swimming and trying to find the rock, that is by that time at the bottom of the pool.xD

@zooeyelisabeth Umm they can swim just fine, but they already have very bad breathing problems cause of there noses.. so if any water gets in there.. it could go bad

@zooeyelisabeth Obviously they can. Our black frenchie had webbed feet and swam like a champ through the tide pools. I wouldn't recommend putting them in a pool because they couldn't get out by themselves (unless you have a nifty ramp)!

What a swimmer! Very impressive! My pug sometimes puts his head underwater too, but not as fearlessly as this. Kudos, but please do keep an eye on him around the pool.

OK people this is soo dangerous! Yes all dogs can swim! French Bulldogs have more of a possibility of drowning because of how their bodies are shaped! It is harder for them to paddle because of their large heads and small legs. They can drown! No ones heard of the french bull owners who lost their dogs at the bottom of the pool because they fell in and couldn't tread water long enough for someone to hear them!?! Make sure you don't leave them alone with a pool nearby if you're not watching them!
