What frightens me the most is people who think the United States is a democracy, when anyone who knows anything about US politics knows it's a republic.
why does that frighten you? for all intents and purposes the US is a democracy, its republican nature is there to ensure that while there is majority rule, people still have minority rights.
adam smith was one of the original classical liberals and advocated a limited government. im pretty sure he reasoned that democracy was the best way to control that government. he wasnt a conservative at the time who thought the king had those kinds of rights.
Adam Smith advocated for a Constitutional Republic, as did all the founding fathers of America. Check the Constitution to be reassured that the United States is indeed a Republic.
There is a difference between a Republic and a Democracy, a republic constraints leaders to a Constitution, whereas democracies do not limit government power. Democracies end up as dictatorships and eventually communism.
i have no problem with a constitutional republic because like I said it ensures majority rule but minority rights which cannot be stripped away by the majority.
which democracies have ended up as dictatorships and eventually communism? you do realise there has never been a communist nation before, anyone with any understanding of political ideologies knows that communism has never occurred in the world.
The problem is, all this ominous drama aside, history will probably look back on the stolen election and surmise that the Supreme Court made a mistake--not that they were corrupt.
One might even say that the election would not have been stolen unless the Republicans (or whoever stole it for them) were reasonably certain that they could get away with it. They knew it would eventually be forgiven (if not entirely forgotten).
Then Sept. 11th happened, and this illegitimate government was given more power by the fickle--and frightened--public than ever before.

@AussiePolitics
Democracies lead to abuse in the voting system and have always produced communism when true democracy always leads to communism.

always lead to communism? if you think there has ever been a communist country in the world then you have no idea what communism is.
as churchill said, democracy is the worst system of government in the world, except for all the rest.

@AussiePolitics
Go look at what Adam Smith had to say about democracies.

Also, Adam Smith warned about democracies.
