A cop is a public servant, a revenue collector for the incorporated city of which he is employed. He is payed via our tax dollars that we are forced under the threat of incarceration to pay. I've argued this to others already. When he started resisting arrest he did become violent. In a situation like this, it's important to subdue a person quickly, for both the protection of the police (who can not predict if the situation will escalate) and for the protection of the individual himself (so that he doesn't hurt himself). If you watch the full vid, they ask him for several minutes before even trying to arrest him. The tazer was a last resort.

But that's exactly what a taser is, it's a compliance tool. It's used to quickly gain compliance from non compliant people. Yes, they are capable of killing (I'm not one of those cops brainwashed by taser international) but so is the use of hard empty-hand control or impact weapons like the asp. There were 2 officers that could have easily dragged him to their car, as he could barely walk a straight line. Public indecency is no call for potentially lethal force.
