We keep the doors open because it get fairly hot in the helicopter during the warm months, and we can't turn on the A/C until we are in flight (so that all the power is used for taking off and landing).
and i love peoria life flight it flies over my house all the time to go to ottawa regional hospital...and everytime i watch it take off i notice they keep those doors open until they are just about ready to take off......why is that? We had very little helicopter training in my EMT class

nice video! I live in Peru, IL and this one and the other 2 always come over my house to go to st.margarets hospital and IVCH
They also stage at the Peru airport during the day
